This feels like a finnish drama set in norway acted by germans who think they're playing swedes
Exactly...Something like that 👍😂😂😂😂
spot on
This is way too dramatic for Finns.
Haha, nailed it!!
Except that Finns are not Scandinavians.
As a Scandinavian, I lost it at "45 minutes of sunlight..." "So five days?"
In the winter, that's ridiculously close to the truth.
ja
ja
***** It is, but the days have begun to get longer, plus now that it is February, the sun actually shines now and then. Things are starting to look up.
Ja
Linda Vuorenvirta Jå
I know we're clowning on the accents but I am very invested in this storyline
Its a comedy skit. It shouldn't be taken seriously. 🙄🤦♂🤷♂
@Aileen Zhao Yah ::stares at you longingly then turns away, also longingly::
@@joshgellis3292 Yet you're invested in a comment on said video. The eye roll is returned, friend.

DAY. INTERIOR. SNL WRITER'S ROOM. CAST GATHERED AROUND TABLE WHICH IS FULL OF ASSORTED FOOD.
Seth reads your comment aloud on a laptop as Scarlett sits beside him.
Seth (In SWEDISH ACCENT): "They speak the truth, Scarlett, unfortunately. Nobody takes it seriously.
Scarlett, looking forlorn and despairing, looks over her shoulder at a pair of birds on a bush outside the window. Camera speed slows as the two birds flutter and nuzzle each other lovingly. Dramatic, sad music plays.
Scarlett: "Ja".
Camera pans over slowly, showing SNL cast chatting and laughing, eventually revealing Bill Hader asleep in his chair. Cut back to Seth and Scarlett, who are now staring at him.
Seth discreetly reaches for Scarlett's hand under the table, but she pulls away.
Cut to Kenan. "What do you think, Seth?"
Seth (nervously): "Um... Yeah... I think that's a... that's a good idea."
The cast continues bantering inaudibly. Close up of Seth and Scarlett sitting side by side looking ahead.
Seth, quietly, while continuing to look ahead: "Life imitates art, doesn't it, Scarlett.
Scarlett nudges Seth's arm discreetly, smiling awkardly.
Scarlett sighs and stares into the distance wistfully.
Seth: "A lot of good food, wasn't it."
Scarlett, also softly and looking ahead, but looking sadder now: "Yeah. A smørgasbørd."
Seth gulps nervously
Seth: "Ja."
Scarlett (voice breaking) "Ja."
END SCENE
Bill Hader is doing nothing and he got me dying lmaoooo
He's dying too
@@Zormac 😂😂😂
@@Zormac We are all dying.
No joke. That hair is a good look for Scarlett.
Any hair is a good look for Scarlett
@@friendlyneigborhoodbean Toupée uhm I mean touché, good sir.
Ja.
She looks hot wearing a roadkill skunk as a hat
Not sure she could wear something that would make her unattractive
Bill Hader has the perfect role!
Elīna Skutele I want to be an actor and only play roles like that for a living
Safe bet he could do the best Swedish accent between the three of them.
Elīna Skutele I wanted to play a sleeping fairy queen in a Shakespeare play at school I had chronic fatigue at the time it was very easy I literally had a nap and managed to wake up at the right time also he did a bloody good job because he didn’t laugh once and he wasn’t able to hide under the covers to laugh I was impressed
No he does not...
Ja
Why is it that every time Americans try to imitate Nordic accents they end up sounding like a German who barely survived a cerebral infraction??
yes
+KaregoAt that was what i was thinking.. very german
exactly! its so fucking stupid.
+KaregoAt Because you guys sound like germans when you speak english.
Haha... is it that bad :)
"Let's try and write smorgasbord in Swedish!" *changes the o to Norwegian ø*
it should be spelled "smörgåsbord"
JÅ
It's actually a Latin character (not letter) and Sweden used it first, then Norway implemented it and then Denmark. So it's should either be credited as Latin or Swedish, not Norwegian-Danish
We (sweden) copied it from Germany, who copied it from Turkish. But it is a letter in the Swedish language, not just a character.
It’s almost like it’s a comedy show, and not an anthropological documentary.
"Join us next when Sigrid will salt a cod and I wait for the reaper's cold hand to release my pain"
Everybody in the comments: they sound german... it looks norway....

Scarlett Johansson can make the word “yeah” interesting and funny
And strangely sexy.

Andy and Scarlett what a weird combinations lol I love it
I love that they gave him over-the-top fake rubber hands so that they can match up with Swedish Chef's unique, bare human hands.
2:18 That was the best Swedish accent in the whole skit... 😂
Det låter som Fred Armisen och han är ju hyfsat bra på accents. 👌
@@Ingoivalde just found out it’s a Andy Samberg

WHY DID BILL MAKE ME LAUGH SO HARD AND HE IS DOING NOTHING
the hader effect is real 😆
He’s being SNL’s Bill Hader at the height of his powers. He didn’t need to do ANYTHING and he would make us laugh. GoAT!!!!!!!!
"Hey Bill we need you to be in this skit and just lay in a bed and do nothing"
"Sure"
He sees the number of pages. "Are you sure?"
Why did they come up with a new name for Scarlett? Johansson is already the most common surname in Sweden :D
DeJayHank she’s half danish
And Johansson is a Surname from sweden.
I Think Carlsson is more common
Half danish not swed
@@bestpsymusicbest2607 wouldn't be Johanssen? Son = sen in danish

Exactly the same, their names would also be the same....
Same accent, brown hair instead of blond.
"He still lives" really made me laugh😂😂
“I will wait for the reaper’s cold hand to release my pain”
😂😂😂
It really the randomest of modern SNL that hits the nail on the head. This is downright hilarious!
How come there is still no one who can do a swedish accent without sounding german, it's like no ones every heard what a real scandinavian sounds like
Kate McKinnon's Swedish accent is pretty good.
Honestly can't say I have
You'd have to actually talk to people first.
German and Scandinavian are the same. Quit splitting hairs.
Because no one cares that much
So..Swedes huh? They sound german, and it looks like they are in western Norway.
+Gist432 this sounds like german cuz im from sweden
jah
What they did wrong is they made it sound monotone with 'ze'-sounds.
Monotone is usually stereotypical Russian and or German. The Germans have the ch/sch (ghhh/shh-sounds) and the Dutch have the GGGGG-sounds.
The Swedish have the oh-ah-uh-oeh-iuhoeuauh-sounds and the Polish have the schka scchhhwwzz and oi-sounds.
Basically, what Scarlett said around 1 minute "'Cause, I'm all he has" would sound like;
German; Caz, I'm ahl he haz
Russian: Cuz, I'm al he hasz.
Dutch: Cus, ahm all he has
Swedish: Co-oz ah-jm oll hii ha-as
Polish: Cooshwz hhaj am all whe haszj'
- You're welcome -
+Widdekuu91 the Polish one would not sound like that
No Norway look like us
"45 minutes of sunlight..." "So five days?"
Hahahahahahahah so true /A swede
hahah eller hur. relaterbart
goddamnmaddog
They're saying that since it is in Sweden, and the sun is not up as long, saying that it way take five days, to get 45 minutes worth of sunlight.
Axel Agdur Måste ha varit ett riktigt bra år för 45 minuter sol-ljus att bara vara 5 dagar
Axel Agdur sounds like a dream tbh! I'm Australian and would kill for a little less sub! It doesn't get dark here until 9pm atm.😑
Well then don't come here in the summer time // a Mongolian (obvious sarcasm)
I have no idea how she does this! Scarlett Johansson just stands there looking straight into the camera speaking unbelievably boring lines and somehow she is extremely funny AND extraordinarily sexy at the same time. This woman knows how to ACT. This is talent of the highest sort.
Wellll, "talent of the highest sort" is given her way too much credit. Im sure if she wasnt attractive you wouldn't or couldn't possibly believe that, not that she can't act but shes no Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchette
@@yvie914 Meryl Streep is an extraordinary actor, but she picks such boring characters to play. I recognize her talent, but I have no interest in watching anything she's in just because she's in it. Cate Blanchette, on the other hand, chooses extremely interesting characters. She inhabits them fully and you BELIEVE that she is that character. I will watch something just because she is in it. What's the difference? OK - maybe it is that Cate is much more attractive (to me) than Meryl. That doesn't make her a better actor, but it makes her more marketable. To people like me, I guess. So, perhaps I am interested in watching Scarlett Johansson because I find her attractive. But I also find her characters interesting, and I think that is the tipping point. I can't apologize for being attracted to women; I am hard wired that way. In the entertainment industry, the word 'talent' has several meanings, and attractiveness is one of them. So I stand by my comment.
@@badbiker666 ok, I can understand fully and agree. But the one flaw that Scarlett has is that she doesn't yet have the talent for picking roles that could showcase her talents like she did when she 1st came on the scene. But I am a fan regardless, even if it's a Fairweathered fan. Cate ...ill watch her on the weather Channel if she's on it.
@@yvie914 she hasn't played anything interesting to me in ages because she's too busy just being the one broad next to Thor. simply my opinion, of course. so i agree with you that she chose better projects years ago. and Cate is Brilliant.
Scarlett Johansson is otherworldly beautiful and sexy. She is also one of best hosts of SNL ever.
The Swedish Chef having puppet hands and a human face was perfection.
Bill Hader got me dying and all he’s doing is pretending to be asleep
That shade of blonde was SO flattering on ScarJo
Haha, I had no idea Sweden was a part of Germany.
?
the accent is German, not Swedish.
DrJW look up any interview with Agnetha from ABBA. That's a proper Swedish accent.
***** no, but the accent they've put on in this sketch clearly is.
DrJW lol, of course not. I don't think most people got the joke. Oh well.
"Our guests are a grappling unshakeable feeling of ennui and a Schopenhauerian idea of happiness." It's so spot on, like if Ingmar Bergman smoked a lot of weed and decided to do a sketch. Sadly he was too much of a sourpuss to have fun.
There is a lot of sexual tension in this video....
Koutetsu Jeeg ya that's the point
With the dead fish?
Yes, my sexual tension in trying not to jack it when I see Scarlett Johansson.
@*_vanessa_* how did you read my mind?
Weird cause she’s now engaged to Colin Jost, Seth’s replacement on Weekend update

2:17 My favorite Part! OMG!!!
Laughing really hard (as a swede) at this even though the accent is a bit off. Still really funny. And hey, as far as stereotypes goes, I made Swedish meatballs just the other day ;)
@Ralph Yes just a bit. They sound nothing like Raul the Busboy on "Seinfeld."
The meat is balled.
I Think the whole love drama and painful longing tension is inspired by the films of Ingmar Bergman.
I remember watching this episode live at the age of 12 and thinking "damn Scarlett Johansson is hawwwwwwwt."
SNL sketch written by Ingmar Bergman.
@@pashadyne No, Bergman is funnier.
@@pashadyne I'd suggest trying A Lesson in Love or Smiles of a Summer Night for the comedic Bergman, but the thing with Bergman is that his themes are simply no longer compelling to present day art house viewers. Haven't been for decades. Bergman themes such as adults' struggles to come to terms with (forgive) the harsh parenting of their mothers and fathers, the silence of god, death, humiliation of infidelity, etc., don't jibe with the "find the courage to be yourself!" ethos of much identity politics-infused indie filmmaking today. BUT the films remain beautifully crafted time capsules of how mid century Existentialist themes could be staged and narrativized.
It's more like Henrik Ibsen.
0:53
Even while not actively acting Bill steals the scene!
🤣😅🤣😅
Lol guys. Relax. It's not supposed to be accurate with the accent. It's a comedy mocking it.
for reasons I can't fathom, this is the most I laughed at an SNL skit
scarlett and seth really can't do swedish accents
no one can pull off a REAL swedish accent in american movies and tv, it always come out german or dutch -.-

Is this where I say - "I am Swedish and this is great!" ?
Because I am Swedish and this is great
OMG that dude looks exactly like Swedish television host André Pops
Faktiskt..
As most scandinavians, I quite enjoy being the object of merriments, but there is one thing that never seizes to offend me: the arbitrary placement of umlauts!
Object of merriments 🤣🤣🤣
When I look at written Swedish or Norwegian, the umlauts seem quite arbitrarily placed. I think your beef may be with Vikings who came up with it.
@AnMal 01 Although you have not completely convinced me that "umlaut" is the wrong word here, I thank you for your input and shall look into this some time.
I'd really love to see if those three make it work afterall... I want a sequel to that sketch! :P
I was so confused for a second because Axel F is my actual ringtone. Why wasn’t my call showing up?
The background track of wind moving, gosh makes me shiver.
why is nobody talking about the crazy frog tune at 2:17?? that music video was my whole childhood lmao
The look they give each other during the video
As a Dane, I'm really disappointed that Scarlett Johansson, who is half Danish, can't really do a Scandinavian accent. :( It was still very funny, though, even if they sounded German.
Why would you be disappointed? That's like the funniest thing about the whole skit.
Wtf is a scandinavian accent?

It's true how Scandinavians have spoken agreements of marriage like this. I had one with my wife, that if we were still unmarried by the age of 40, we would marry each other. Although one year later, we cancelled the agreement and got married to each other at the age of 25.
The most accurate thing about this one is Scarlett's last name.
Whenever Swedes complain about the inaccuracy of the accent in Skyrim show them this. The Skyrim accent actually sounds pretty researched in contrast.
How can anyone bitch about the inaccuracy of an accent spoken by fictitious people, I mean sure they are obviously inspired by ancients scandinavians and/or nordics but they could speak hebrew and be perfectly accurate :)=
I really want them to do a part tow of this sometime when Scarlet is on... ten years later, Bill is still in a coma.
Gotta love the swedes...45 minutes of sunlight in any given year, and they decided to make convertibles.

That Swedish Chef bit was one of the funniest things I've seen...today...this week...this month? I'm not sure!
Just so everyone knows. The Ø is not a letter in the Swedish alphabet. It is in the Danish and Norwiegan alphabet though.
Bill in bed with his mouth open lmaooo
Some fun facts about the Swedish chef part (02:17-02:41):
1) The song that plays is "Axel F" by the German Harold Faltermeyer, the theme song from the 1984 film "Beverly Hills Cop".
2) In 1997, the Swede Daniel Malmedahl created a sound clip where he attempts to imitate the sound of a two-stroke engine. This clip later went viral in Sweden.
3) In 2003, the Swede Erik Wernquist took the sound clip and used it to animate the video "The Annoying Thing". This character in the video would later be referred to as Crazy Frog.
4) In 2005, Crazy Frog released a cover version of the song "Axel F", which was made into a ringtone by the German ringtone provider Jamba!
So, it all adds up that they use the song "Axel F" (and mentions it as a ringtone), as it has a connection to both Sweden and Germany.
well you can tell that she has scandinavian ancestors :) but also she was an incredible dutch girl

did they mean smörgåsbord
shouldn't it be smörgåsbröd?
A Smug Seal isn't that like sandwich bread
yeah, smörgåsbröd means buttered breakfast bread so to speak. just a plain sandwich. But smörgåsbord...bord means table. and bröd means bread. so what you wrote does not mean sandwich per se. :P lol
A Smug Seal I know that it doesn't mean sandwhich bread, but smörgåsbord is a traditional swedish buffet thingy if I remember correctly from swedish class
that sounds true, though I've never heard of that expression.. I went to pre school and kindergarden in sweden. bord is like a table, so that makes sense :)
