This is Bill Hader's first appearance. Who would have known that 8 years later, on Bill's last show, Seth would be fighting Anderson Cooper over a character played by Bill?
You can hear and feel the gasps of awe when he started speaking as Pacino. It is eerie how absolutely spot on it is. He didn't impersonal Al Pacino. He channeled and became Al Pacino.
fun fact! after this sketch, when hader walked off, he proceeded to immediately collapse offstage due to his anxiety. he could hardly remember anything he had done on stage, and was out for a few seconds

This is one of those sketches where every cast member is just on their game. SNL in the 2000s was definitely about ensemble comedy. All equally funny 🤣🤣🤣
Actually, it's the sketch where Steve Carell and Amy Poehler play passengers on a flight that's in the news about an emergency landing. Both that sketch and this one showed that Bill Hader was going to go far on this show with his crazy characters and startingly accurate celebrity impressions. Meanwhile, it took Andy Samberg a few episodes before he became popular (the Jack Black episode with "Lazy Sunday") and Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig didn't really hit their strides until the season after this.

Me too 1,000,000%. I love that you can hear the audience just being blown away, knowing that....oh yeah....there's a new kid in town and he's got mad mad skills.
I am so glad Lorne discovered Bill Hader. The two or three seasons before he got hired were a dark period for SNL. With Hader, my generation had its own Phil Hartman where we had one cast member who could absolutely blow us away with the depth of their talent and carry the show week in and week out. To date, he's the last cast member you could argue for the GOAT title.
I've watched three SNL clips on UA-cam so far and heard the VERY LOUD music at the end for a total of 12 minutes. It's a really good idea to have that on every......single......clip. So what if it's a 50/50 split between comedy and VERY LOUD exit music.
Suprised that they didn't put Anderson Cooper in a creek like he was when he was trying to show a place had flooded. It wasn't flooded, he was just standing in a creek, when you see the photo showing the wide view, the camera man is on the side of the road and dry, so funny.
This is Bill Hader's first appearance. Who would have known that 8 years later, on Bill's last show, Seth would be fighting Anderson Cooper over a character played by Bill?
He's jealous and needed to whine about it !
Well the sketch before was his first appearance technically. (Jet Blue)
WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH thats AMAZING. I love bill
He almost passed out when he walked off set- the set director caught him and put him in a chair.
Nigerian Prince How do you know this?
Bill Hader's first sketch and everybody was clapping for him! What a legend!
It's uncanny. I remember only Kate McKinnon nailing her first apperance that well (Pantene commercial).
aw
For real :-O
Awww
He was destined to become an SNL Legend from the very start
Bill Hader - Pacino - nailed it.
Seth nailing Anderson’s lip pout.

Hader’s Pacino is epic!! 🌟
This is in 2005 and Keenan is still on the show in 2019. Also still looks the same as he did in 2005.
He looks the same as 1995
He definitely looks younger, in here to me. Now he has some wrinkles and grey hair
it's 2021 and Kenan is still in the show and looks the same

They wouldn’t even let him do this impression in 2021.

Bill Hader is a truly talented actor. Even in this very first episode, he mocks Al so accurate and funny. God, this guy is great.
It's called impersonation, not mocking. Mocking is what people in San Francisco do about the Chinese, like: "EGGROR TWO DOLLA".
Morpheus I think they were using the term as a synonym of copy
@@morpheus6749 😂
He wasn't mocking Al Pacino it's an impersonation. 😂
it’s gotten to the point where i know all of the cast members, but none of the people they’re impersonating

Dang I'm also a child...
You really don't know Tony Danza or Al Pacino??? I am so sorry :(
Man I can totally relate. I am a child too

Man just witnessed the birth of a legend. Way to go Bill!
Bill Haders Al Pacino and Horatio Sanz Aaron Neville were freaking incredible.
the way the crowd cheered after Bill appeared as Al was a the first sign of his stardom:((
Never thought id see an Aaron neville impression. That was perfect
Lord, Seth with that wig is making feel the certain ways...he has no business being that fineeee.
I came for Bill, but Seth got me off guard😳 He looks really handsome in this
Hader's debut alone makes this one a classic, but every character and impersonation is a winner pretty much

That Al Pacino and Aaron Neville impression was awesome
this was bill hater's first episode as cast member
not gonna lie, that was the reason why I revisited season 31
Its *Hader
Wow, he was solid from day 1
Hader's gonna hade!
Well done. Classic.
Love Horatio’s Aaron Neville impersonation lolol
Bill Hadler is another fantastic comedian and impressionist. Thank God for SNL for bringing us so many incredible people over the years.

That was the best part of the whole video.

Seth and Bill too funny - everyone soo awesome in this skit

LOLOL!! great eye!!
You too? Oh my god

I love me some Horatio sanz
The Aaron Neville impersonation is severely underrated in these comments🖒
Like, it really is and Idky
Who plays Neville?
PAULETTE MARIE Yearout Horatio Sanz

I came here strictly for this impersonation! Horatio Kills me.

That Aaron Neville impersonation has stayed with me for years. XD
That's probably because you don't know much, HA !
The Geraldo Rivera part was hilarious. Well done in Darrell Hammond
Horatio was spot on. Love him!

That Aaron Neville impression is GOLD!! PURE GOLD!!
Bill Hader's Al Pacino.... the boss.
Awesome, no..?
Yes!!👏

I love that Seth Meyers plays Anderson Cooper, and then later steals Stefon from his wedding to Anderson Cooper 😂
OMG @4:07 Horatio Sanz steals the entire skit lol

Jesus H, he's awesomely talented. You are exactly right. If Hader looked more like Pacino, he'd have been the best, but Sans is incredible.
That Geraldo impression was amazing too.
As soon as Bill said “Anderson” as Pacino, I knew we were going to have a marvelous impressionist and cast member.

Horatio has a godly singing voice.
andy doing a wonderful job as camera man
