As always, I really appreciate yall's support! Just know that the Gundam content won't stop coming, even if there is more Dragon Ball being sprinkled in to prepare for Sparking Zero. These old Gundam games don't get enough love. Gundam Breaker 4 is right around the corner. Personally, I don't think it will capture the spirit of these older titles, but we'll surely be covering it.
Very few ppl cover this game on youtube! Personally, I think this brings back memory a period of time when Bandai would make a whole game dedicated to a single show, which is something we simply don't see nowadays. For that alone it's worth experiencing. I just think the control schemes in this game doesn't really work well at portraying each suits' unique weaponry. It ends up feeling very "spammy" as you keep on using the same attacks most of the time. If we ever get a game with a mission based story mode that faithfully recreates the scenarios from the show, while giving us a control scheme more akin to A.C.E 3 or the gundam versus series where the distinctive weaponry of each suit is very pronounced, that'd be a dream come true.
Maaaaaan this took me back! Back then (thanks to school) I could never watch Gundam Seed or catch it on TV... To make things worse my classmates would always play their Gundam Seed Battle Assault games on GBA and would never let me play... But I guess it was kind of a good thing, since I was able to pickup Neverending Tomorrow and beat it! So I got to play Gundam Seed and learn the story as well! Heck the library the game provides is pretty damn good when it comes to C.E stuff!
Great video. I like the Cosmic Era for the most part, but the gameplay in this feels clunky and unintuitive, which prevents me from playing it a lot. A lot of things in this game feel unfinished and that might be because the game was rushed to be released before the end of Gundam SEED Destiny. I might go back to it one day for completion sake. If you are looking for a good C.E. game, I recommend Gundam Seed Destiny: Generation of CE, which was also released a month earlier than this one. Its in Japanese but I've beaten it twice. It's probably my favorite C.E. game. There's also Gundam Seed Destiny: Federation vs Zaft 2 Plus. It's full of content and the gameplay is stellar.
I remember thinking about getting this game back in the day, but decided not to because X-Play gave it a bad review. That was before I realized X-Play automatically gave bad reviews to anything anime related. A shame looking back because I really loved Encounters in Space.
@@NerdsIAB When that day finally comes, we'll do more content like my "What if Lalah Survived" vid, where we actually play through the games in full series of videos. Going to do that for Gundam vs Zeta, Zeonic Front, Journey to Jaburo, and more ❤️

One day it just froze while playing and I tried a bunch of methods to fix the disc. Disc cleaner, rubbing alcohol, and toothpaste. Nothing worked. I hope one day I can find this game again or play it on an emulator since this what started my love for seed.
While ive never played a lot of the well known good games like zeonic front or journey to jaburo (though i have recently found and bought them), I highly recommend trying and reviewing one of the PSP games. Gundam Assault Survive is frankly amazing for a psp game letting you play through a lot of key UC series as your own squad rather than the show's main cast. Youre even given a personality quiz at the beginning, the results of which giving you a free early mobile suit unlock like the rx-78-2. With many variations unlockable through development and progression like ace units such as Ramba Ral's Zaku I, or Haman's Gaza C. Many suits having other modes via pressing X and square at the same time like zeta transforming, but theres things i find hilarious like the magella being able to swap between tank mode and flying as the detached turret on and off like the most threatening magella tank ever, and the gundam using the g armor on its legs to fly and drop super napalm. Sorry about formatting and length as im on mobile, but i would be very happy to see a review on what i believe to be one of the best gundam games, or even just comments if anyone else has played assault survive and if they liked it or not, if they have any nostalgia for it like i do
I spent so much time playing this as a kid, I can’t tell you anything about two years of my life except all the runs I made, and how I started understanding formations and tactical fort casting because of it.
6:13 This never same into play in SEED, but is a core component of the Impulse from SEED Destiny. Each of it's loadouts changes the armor voltage to handle the kind of incoming damage expected from said weapon arrangements.
i actually never played Encounters in Space as a kid so i did not know this was a sequel which is kinda interesting since Seed is a whole new universe airing during the 2000s i enjoy Seed a lot though shame they didn't give the west more Seed games
The reason SEED is so similar to the original anime is cos it's a pseudo retelling of it. The sequel series, SEED Destiny, keeps the trend by being like Zeta Gundam. The Stargazer movie wasn't a Chat's Counterattack analogue but the new SEED Freedom move IS apparently the SEED CCA. (Unsure, haven't watched it yet)
Nah, Seed Freedom's plot is completely different than CCA. Though it does have a character who's arc is the same as Quess', but played as comedy for some reasson? (Ha ha, she's going to get court marshaled for defecting for the D...) _I do not like this movie._
I will note that PLANT meant "Productive Location Ally on Nexus Technology" before changing it to "People Liberation Acting Nation of Technology" after the first war.
I really don't get the decisions that led to that HUD design for this. Why have the radar big ring at the bottom and then still do a flat radar on the bottom left? Why keep that green range-of-fire box there all the time? Maybe reduce the size of the partner's image on the top right by about 25% so it doesn't take up so much precious real estate. It kinda sandbags on the immersive quality Encounters in Space had in exchange for really, really reminding you you're playing a SEED game.
You're 100% on the nose when it comes to the gameplay taking an L once you enter melee combat as that was my biggest issue with the game (and the most cited problem people had in the day) as it ruined the flow of the missions. I eventually got fed up with it and made it a point to try and avoid close quarters combat unless I absolutely had no choice as missions were pretty fun otherwise and the inclusion of many units from the side stories/manga was really cool for the time. The SEED (and 00) Universe were pretty well known for having additional pieces of media to check out that expanded upon the main narrative and in the case of SEED, was considered better written.

Pretty much mirrored my thoughts on this game. Gameplay's pretty good except for the Attack Mode thing. You actually can use your firearms in this mode though to switch things up, which is probably why it feels as clunky as it does.. Some MS use different weapons when you do this such as the Freedom using its railguns It should be noted that Never Ending Tomorrow uses clips from the original TV broadcast of the show, so it's gonna look a lil' offputting to some people more familiar with the DVD and HD Remaster releases. While Mission Mode does feature other characters from the show, half of the playable cast and extra units are from the Astray manga side stories

Too bad I discovered the Gundam Ps2 titles in 2014/15 instead of in middle school or high school (2002 to 2008). Gundam Federation vs zeon, Gundam, in space and gundam Seed Neve ending tomorrow are very good mech anime games.
From this game you can see they were improving the gameplay. If they had kept making these games. We would have had a fairly dynamic combat experience that fits Gundam. I remember watching the first two or so episodes but didn't like it. The plot was too much of a copy of UC, while the designs were too outlandish for me. It all felt like a shallow rehash when I experienced it. Is the show worth watching? Did it age well? I was introduced to Gundam through Wing like most people my age, but Wing sure as hell didn't age good at all with that extra corny plot and cheesy dialogue (Epyon still looks god tier of course).
