  • In this video I build target stands from 2 2X3's and 8 2-1/2" drywall screws. In the video I say 6 screws, but it's actually 8.

Out of all the videos that's out here this is the best one I've ever seen in my life! Straight to the point! So I'm on my way to go pick up some lumber to do exactly what I just learned! Thanks!

Hello, what measurement did you cut the little pieces into? Did 2 and 5/8ths work as he mentioned ?

That's similar to how I'm making some right now, but I'm using 1x2's for the target frame and 2x4's for the base...all treated lumber so they last longer.

This is great! Here I was going to pay $68.00 to make 1 out of PVC. When I can make 1 with 2x3's. $9.00 with 2x3's vs. $66.44 for PVC. No brainer!

The one I made of 1/2 inch PVC did not coast anywhere near $68.00 In fact it cost less than $20.00!

    **INSTRUCTIONS:** (re-written by chat gpt):
    ### Material List:
    - **Two 2 in x 3 in x 8 ft boards**
    - **Six 2.5-inch screws**
    ### Measurements:
    1. **Two 2 in x 3 in x 4 ft pieces** (uprights)
    2. **Two 2 in x 3 in x 24 in pieces** (legs)
    3. **Two 2 in x 3 in x 18 in pieces** (cross pieces)
    4. **Two small blocks, approximately 2 in x 3 in x 2 5/8 in each**
    ### Instructions:
    1. **Cutting the Boards:**
    - Cut the 2 in x 3 in x 8 ft board into the following:
    - Two pieces, each 2 in x 3 in x 4 ft (uprights)
    - Two pieces, each 2 in x 3 in x 24 in (legs)
    - Two pieces, each 2 in x 3 in x 18 in (cross pieces)
    - Two small blocks, each approximately 2 in x 3 in x 2 5/8 in
    2. **Mark Centers:**
    - Mark the center of each 2 in x 3 in x 24 in piece (legs).
    - Mark the center of each small block (approximately 2 in x 3 in x 2 5/8 in).
    3. **Assemble the Legs:**
    - Place a small block (2 in x 3 in x 2 5/8 in) at the center of a 2 in x 3 in x 24 in piece.
    - Align one 2 in x 3 in x 18 in piece on each side of the small block.
    - Use the small block as a gauge to keep the 18 in pieces centered and aligned.
    - Secure with 2.5-inch screws.
    4. **Secure Cross Pieces:**
    - Repeat the process on the other end with the second 2 in x 3 in x 24 in piece, small block (2 in x 3 in x 2 5/8 in), and 2 in x 3 in x 18 in pieces.
    5. **Adjust Small Blocks:**
    - Position a small block inwards using a 1-foot scrap piece to ensure even spacing.
    - Secure the small blocks with screws on both sides.
    6. **Insert Uprights:**
    - Insert the 2 in x 3 in x 4 ft pieces into the slots formed by the 2 in x 3 in x 18 in pieces and the small blocks.
    - Ensure the fit is tight enough to hold the uprights but not too tight to prevent easy removal.
    ### Usage:
    - Staple the cardboard targets to the uprights.
    - After use, remove the cardboard and the uprights for easy storage.
    - Replace the uprights as they get worn from target practice.
This ensures you have precise measurements and clear instructions for building the target stands.

1x2 furring strips fit inside 1-1/2" pvc pipe. I make a U-shaped base with a few pieces and elbows. In the center of the two legs I put a t-fitting with pipe sticking up for my strips. I get a 8 foot piece of 1x2 strip and cut it in half or to whatever length I need to fit in my car. I use any cardboard (small moving boxes) and a staple gun to attach. I get the fittings that have more depth for inserting the pipe and it fits in snug enough to stay together and not glue it. Every once in a while, I'll get a strong wind and it will blow it over, but I usually have something to lay on the back of the stand and the targets are high enough it won't get hit. At one point I made 3 of them that nested. Eventually they got shot up, but they are cheap and you can replace the pieces that break if you get the right fittings and don't glue them.

Yep did same thing turn the speed down on your drill

    • @paulis7319
      @paulis7319 11 місяців тому

Looks like he's using an impact drill, which is a single speed...much more efficient (and faster) for 3+" screws.

I hope I don't sound stupid but I only see you screwing the screws in, I didn't see you drill holes first?

    • @SakimasRidgeHomestead
      @SakimasRidgeHomestead  15 днів тому

I did not pre-drill the holes. Not much risk in splitting the boards, but nothing wrong with drilling if you want.

Clever design of these stands. Definitely useful, frugal, and creative.
Nice shirt too. I can't help but wonder if you're a pro-lifer and/or support the bills being put out, discriminating against the LGBTQ community.
