Just built this and tried it out. Thanks for the plan. After reading the comments, I decided to splay the back legs instead of adding legs. It is super stable.
Great idea. I used a lot of the steps in this build but I’m glad I didn’t cut everything at once first. Took longer but I had to measure and cut individually to get a great fit. Also I used 19” for the 2x6 seat height so 20”after the deck board is on. Then I used a 50 degree angle because 45 wasn’t steep enough to get to the 4x4 post that I cut at 36” high. Also I used 2”x4” mending plates on both sides to help hold that angle to the upper frame. I used leftover composite decking for the top and seats. Cut seats at 11.5” wide. Also used extra 4x4s on each seat end too help make it rock solid as mentioned in other comments it was pretty tippy without them. I’m happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to use it to see how well it works. It’s Heavy…
Thank you for posting such a great design. We built two of them today. Can’t wait to try them out. For those asking in other comments, we put the top of our benches at 19” and they feel grey.
Man, great job on the cut list and the bench. Will definitely make things easier . I didn't catch the finished seat height. Could you tell me the height of the seat? Thanks again. New sub
Great set of plans for a quality bench. I extended mine to accommodate the .50 BMG right of the bat and made the posts a little taller since I'm taller, i wanted the seat a little higher. Was able to build it all in one day, about to go out and do some final sanding before putting it on the range. Thanks for uploading.
@UA-camr all measurements and instructions are on the video. I grabbed screenshots of the measurements and took my laptop out to my shop for cutting. Layer out the pieces and assembled.
One of the best shooting bench built… Very Solid and sturdy… you can’t build something small, light weight and portable and not trade off for absorbing recoil unless you’re shooting air rifles… IMO…. Good Video 👍
I keep a couple metal studs around to do the same thing. The metal studs seems to be much straighter than wood. Very lightweight, not affected by water, and cheap to replace.
Thanks for the video and design. I make one and have a couple of notes. With the 4x4 length cut at 37" this is more like counter height vs table height. I started with the length extended on the side and middle runners which moved the 4x4s forward also. If you straddle the bench when you shoot then you don't have a tipping problem. If you sit straight on it, it might tip a bit depending on your weight. I'm 260lbs and it tipped so I added a left over deck board as a leg on the end of the bench. I used 23" for the bench height.
Thanks for the video. Mine is coming along nicely. Only thing I'm doing differently is I'm using 2x6's for all of the platform framing, using 4x6's instead of 4x4's for the legs, and cutting some pieces of decking to screw under the legs where they contact the ground. Also GRK structural screws for the framing ($$$). It's going to be heavy but that's what the tractor is for. Thanks again.
I built this bench today using pressure treated (6) 2x4x8, (4) 5/4 x6x8 deck boards and (2) 4x4x8 post. I already had some leftover 2 1/2” and 3” deck screws and structural screws from a deck project. Had about $70 in lumber ( add about $20-30 if needed to buy screws)Only change I made was i used the leftover pieces of 4x4 to add extra legs under the seat because it wanted to tip over when sitting down, works great. Easy build on Sunday afternoon after church. Sorry can’t figure out how to post a picture. I recommend this design over the many others I contemplated building.
Also made legs 35” and seat height 18”. I am 5’9 both sons little over 6’ but wife and daughter both about 5’2 and 5’4” so this height works better for us
Good bench except for the design of the seat section, when I sat down the bench done a flip with the 3 leg design so I had to add 2 more legs out under the outer seat. So if any of you build this bench be careful when you sit down......
In the video he shows the plans watch the video without skipping till about 2:15 he shows the wood needed and the measurements. Continue watching for other help
We have had this bench ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxNuLbiXpLQ-mKH5NlyjrNe88hiCk2N3Cg for five years now and it is still holding up strong with minimal signs of wear! So much so that I decided to get another one to store other stuff. The first one is still beautiful, strong and is easy to clean. It’s been in our living room and we store toys and blankets in it and it really holds quite a bit of stuff. I purchased a similar one two years ago from Aldi and let me tell you that one fell apart in less than six months of use. Get this one if you’re looking. Seriously worth it. Five years already and I can’t believe it looks this good and has held up for the price! Awesome bench, the new one I just got is identical.
One question? What was the height of the seat from the floor or what was that or the distance from the top of the seat to the top of the table or is that a preference?
Super video and yesterday I bought the lumber and hardware for $95 to build this. I'm not a carpenter but know that I can build this. Quick question, what size drill bit did you use before inserting/screwing in the many deck screws?
This video was helpful and I believe the bench is a good design and overall economical and as lightweight as wooden bench could be. For some reason the boards you have labeled as 16 7/8" did not fit for us...i believe we had to recut boards to something like 17 1/2. Also, it is worth noting that someone wanting to build this could buy one 8' 2x6 and one 10' 2x6 instead of (3) 8 footers. The part you actually sit on you could make from a single 10footer (same width as the table top) and the two 45" boards in the frame can be made from the 8 footer.
Nice bench idea - but not something you just throw into the back of the pickup and head out to the range with, very easily. A bench for the "property" - absolutely. Thanks.
Building a shooting bench is the easy part, having a place to shoot your rifle collection at will is the hard part 🤣... looks awsum man.. sturdy.. last forever.
No offense, but if I'm going to take advice on how to build something, it will be from someone who can at least spell the word "great" correctly. Especially if it's in the title of their YT channel.

Whats the length on the 2 boards that are 45 degrees?

I watched a couple of different videos on shooting benches but I decided on this one! Thanks!
I built your design and it's a beast !! Thanks for a simple and VERY effective bench for my home range !!
That’s awesomen

This is what I have been looking to build. Great layman video. Thank you.

what did he cut his legs at. Don't remember him saying. His looks really tall....
I'm gonna add a collapsible leg that folds into the seat for when the big boys come by.
Great build! Thanks!
Making this tomorrow. Great design 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing! What a great build, It is exactly the layout for a bench I need for my property. Cheers!
Awesome! I’m glad this video was a perfect fit for your setup!

Working the project this weekend - took screen shots of each step - lets see how it turns out.
Looks like what I need . I'm trying to build one that I can move with the tractor when I mow. It cool that you build TP's bench 😎.
Awesome video!
Sweet shooting bench! I'm going to build one like this I just decided. But I don't have the router or sander so mine will be rougher around the edges.
Impressive! Nice work, Sir.

🎉 Very nice video, great job 👏
Thanks! Needed this!
Great job!!!!! What is the distance from the top of the seat to the top of the table?? Thanks
Nice bench. Thanks for sharing. Where can I find the plans? Thanks
Yeah the video said there were plans you could download but I can’t find them.
Looks awesome 👍
Thanks!
Thanks!
Where did you use the ninth bolt
Very good question🤣 I’d have to look at the video again
great...how high are the seat braces 2x6 above the floor?
I just want to know, what kind of gun that is he’s shooting?? Thanks for the build plans. I intent to use this!
That’s my homies gun over at @texasplinking
Good bench except for the design of the seat section, when I sat down the bench done a flip with the 3 leg design so I had to add 2 more legs out under the outer seat. So if any of you build this bench be careful when you sit down......
I didn’t have any problem with it tilting or anything of the sort, but yes adding more legs will make it even sturdier.
I’m having the same problem. I’m going to have to add two more legs also
How much do you guys weigh?
I am 5' 7" and weigh in at 180@@dangerousfreedom4965
I just had one built and had the same issue.. Going to add legs under the seat on each side.
NICE !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Built this, only problem I ran into is the bench can tip over if you sit off to one of the sides. I plan and adding more support on the sitting side.
Yes the back legs should’ve went as far apart as possible. Made the video on the very first one I’ve ever built.
Great design! Do you have downloadable plans?
In the video he shows the plans watch the video without skipping till about 2:15 he shows the wood needed and the measurements. Continue watching for other help
Awesome Bench! Getting ready to build one myself, is there a cut list?
I don’t think I made one, but in the Video I should’ve stayed at all the cuts.
Awesome table. Do you have website where I can buy one from you already built. I live in south Texas and can pick one up if you do.
I do not unfortunately. Wood prices are a lot lower then during the time this was built so could be way cheaper to do it yourself now

I saw a rough overall height based on the leg length plus decking. What did you use for the seat height? I am guessing somewhere around 22-24"?
One question? What was the height of the seat from the floor or what was that or the distance from the top of the seat to the top of the table or is that a preference?
Great video and great looking bench. Where do I find the actual plans please?
How long are the 4x4 legs? I am missing that somewhere!
37"
So are the 2x6's 45 inches long?
What's the height for the boards you used on the bench portion
He used 37" but advised to feel free to edit that. I'm going with 40"
What are the measurements of the 2 * 6 that goes down the middle
Apparently a secret lol
how u get a copy of the plans
was it ever sealed or stained & with what?
what do you estimate that this bench weighs?
A lot lol I’m not sure maybe 100+lbs
Are there any printed plans with cut lists, etc? Or just youtube video plans? Great looking bench, by the way!
Super video and yesterday I bought the lumber and hardware for $95 to build this. I'm not a carpenter but know that I can build this. Quick question, what size drill bit did you use before inserting/screwing in the many deck screws?
1/8” will be adequate
I did the same build but with 2x6 boards an4x4 legs I’m shooting a 50bmg though
Tough💪🏻
How long are the two 2x6s for the length of the table ?
Never mind found it
How high did you put the seat?
Could send the plans for this shooting bench to me love it
Is there any way to see the plans you reference in the video title?
If you watch the video till like 2:00 you’ll see the most replayed part of the video has the plans
What would be your asking Price$ for one of these?
I just sold two with hunting Season coming up.
One at $300 and the other at $325
Probably about 160 in materials
How tall are you 4x4s?

what length were the legs cut to? It didn't say? looks like a tall bench top to be honest
@@adamaustin3373 he said 37” which was too tall imo I went with 35”
@pennylessplantation yea I agree...I went with 33 myself
where can you get the plans and material list on paper?
Did you use 10 of the 7” bolts? Your material list calls for 9 of them.
I think it only needs 9 but I probably added a few more because I had them. More the better
I wish that I saw Kens comment befor I built this thing
I had no issues with it tilting and it’s kept on grass. But yes easy add on with 2 extra legs on the bench
I can't find the measurements list.
Where are the plans?
Nice bench idea - but not something you just throw into the back of the pickup and head out to the range with, very easily. A bench for the "property" - absolutely. Thanks.
Yes it was made for a ranch for long range shootong
@@greattbuilds Looks nice and solid
Am I the only one who doesn't see a measurement for the 45° 2x6s?
Why can't I download a copy of the plans?? I don't want to watch a video everytime I need a measurement or something?
Building a shooting bench is the easy part, having a place to shoot your rifle collection at will is the hard part 🤣... looks awsum man.. sturdy.. last forever.
Where are the plans? pdf or something? I'd like to build the bench but I need the cut sizes, the rest I can figure it out.
Sat down on seat and it rolled to my left, if I had not jumped it would have taken me with it. FAIL
I did not have this issue with the first one built, but noticed it on another so updated the build with the back legs spread out more.
No offense, but if I'm going to take advice on how to build something, it will be from someone who can at least spell the word "great" correctly. Especially if it's in the title of their YT channel.
