    Great watch guys! @EdProsser I watch your channel a ton for Lumix/lens content. These cameras are *still* highly underrated, which is mind blowing for me. I owned an S5 and the image out of that camera was to this day one of my favorites, very organic and VLog is probably still my favorite log profile. Just all around ridiculous the quality/features you get for the price.

    I just hope that Panasonic will come back to “churn out” new PanaLeica lenses... either with some updates for older optics, improving optical quality, or by just making optics with the “strange” but useful focal range, such as the Tamron 35-150mm f2-2.8: if a PanaLeica 14-60 f2 or similar comes in the future, I will be the first to buy it!

I just bought a Lumix FZ80d just to get my hands on some Panasonic technology and also to have a bridge camera that I could throw in a backpack for casual and family and fun trips. for panasonic to go higher they need to do a zve10, r10 competitor. a camera under 1000 for video and photo with the good autofocus of s5iix, but this camera should be full frame. so preferably a stripped down s5ii, no fan. then they need to do a bigger camera to compete with the fx6 and new canon c80. that's about it.

      Wellllll....kinda sounds like the S9, but! If they do something with an APSC sensor it could be more achievable potentially! But I for sure agree! I think they just 3 solid-tier cameras. I don't think Pana will go into the APSC lens market. And without making sales from lenses, why would they produce an APSC camera? For entry-level one, one would expect an update to the G100 - it's way below $1000.

    • @MatthewDangyou
      @MatthewDangyou  3 місяці тому +2

      For investment of L mounts. You can for sure buy an entry level MFT camera which is great. But the moment you move to full frame your lenses (if they are native) no longer work. Entry level full frame under $1000 with l mount even an APSC would be huge

      APS-C is used by Canon, Sony and Nikon as the system to get them user into their system. Their cameras are cheap and you can buy Full Frame lenses and uses them until you can buy a FF bodies. This is the biggest Achilles heel of Panasonic. M43 and L mount are incompatible and you cannot uses the same lenses on both system.
      As Matthew said if you buy m43 lenses you can not use them on the L mount. They upgrade is steep at Panasonic. That is why Panasonic drop in marketshare. They have less then 5% marketshare where Canon has 45%, Sony has 25% and Nikon has 11%. All 3 has upgrade from cheap APS-C and then Full Frame. That is why Canon killed the EOS-M mirrorless when created RF. They need to make their FF compatible with very cheap APS -C in the same mount.

    • @video-carl
      @video-carl 3 місяці тому

      @@angeloplayforone I figured Panasonic's market share was low because a) they didn't adopt it in FF until Jan 2023 & for MFT until Sept 2023 - they were panned in just about every written and video review for not doing so and b) they launched into FF late... 2019 but without PDAF and with no FF mirrored userbase. When do you expect Panasonic to announce its first APSC camera?

    • @angeloplayforone
      @angeloplayforone 3 місяці тому +1

      @@video-carl They said they will not introduce any APS-C cameras the same way they said that m43 is sufficient for professional use and they don’t need to go into FF format. Also they claimed PDAF decreases image quality and their DFD AF is sufficient. Let’s wait, they will switch their arguments. They went FF and embraced PDAF.

  • @leenhouse217
    @leenhouse217 3 місяці тому +1

    Totally agree that Lumix needs an entry-level APS-C L-mount camera. I'd immediately buy one with an FX30/FX3 style form factor. A camera with the amount of features Lumix put into their cameras would get a lot of people into the L-mount system. I know Lumix are worried about this impacting MFT sales, but that's short term thinking. They shouldn't be worried about preserving the MFT slice of their ~5% market share, they should be taking a strategy that can grow that 5% into a much bigger share than MFT is right now.
    Personally I love the tradeoff of APS-C sensors - they feel like they're big enough in a way that MFT does not, but yet don't require the huge and expensive lenses of FF sensors.

    Lumix is doing a great job with their cameras but they really need to improve their marketing and communication with their customers. One of the reason that people have been so negative towards the S9 and S5D is that Lumix didn't communicate their intentions with those cameras and people got really mad because they had other expectations.

I didn't rate the R5 / 6 cameras - although I did come close to picking up the C70 - I went for the Komodo instead.
      For the mirrorless side I don't think there's anything out there that offers the same IQ / features for the price that LUMIX does. I also tend to adapt PL / EF glass anyway so whether Canon has better lenses or not doesn't really matter (their rf lenses are just too expensive for me - I own the Komodo too). The LUMIX S primes have won me over though - I own several of those.

      Yeah for the lenses I feel like they are really comparable and the L Mount as a whole is still new but the nice part is RF just started letting other companies making those type of lenses. L Mount has a lot more development with Sigma, DJI, Black Magic. So many more companies use this Mount so the Mount as a whole will continue to grow over time. For the S5iiX I would argue the colors are much more natural and easier to grade than the canon colors. To me canon is nice but just a little to contrasty right out the bat. I prefer the UI of lumix, features like shutter angle, real time lut, proxy recording, camera to cloud, waveform. These are just much more professional video tools in a camera body that you wouldn’t see from canon since they need to protect the cinema line

    Most of these ideas suggested in this interview are pretty bad from a business standpoint. Panasonic needs to stick with full frame AND micro43. Nothing else. Give us a small m43 camera with all the modern codecs and features at a low pricepoint as well as the S2H with the capabilities of the GH7 and Panasonic is #1 in the market. They just need to execute on those two cameras really well.

      We mentioned the S1Hii😅🤷🏼‍♂️ but honestly I think the L Mount APSC sub $1000 or heck $800 would be perfect for beginners over a smal MFT. Think about the high schoolers who are getting into cameras eventually moving onto more expensive cameras. Sure you can get an MFT but then you can switch to full frame l mount without investing into a whole different ecosystem of lenses🤌🏼

    Lumix is the only camera brand that values its customers. So much camera, for amount of money bigger brands sell you striped down budget models. Bigest Lumix problem is this video
    platform, they often get very unfair revues, and for using contrast focus they got su much BS from UA-camrs its a discrase. And this manufactored "debate" some UA-camrs have in their own heads m4/3 vs FF it seem to me desinged to further denegrate Lumix brand, and if you look m4/3 Lumix models, they are unbelivebly good. My oppinion is that Lumix haves a policy not
    to pay for rewies and UA-camrs obvously want to get paid for "Their honest unbiased opinions" and are behaving like vultures, delibratly making questanble reviews in order to
    force Lumix to pay. And when you listen to reviews of other brands it's obvious that espacialy Fuji and Sony, pay like crazy, Canon and Nikon as well and so "honest" reviewers somehowe
    always menage to overlook or miss the problems in cameras belonging to those brands.

    if they put 5.8 k 50/60 in my gh7 or at least good 4k open gate 4k50 i am more than happy with lumix. when i have more money i would love to buy a s1h2 if it can match what a nikon z9 can do but the lumix way and with open gate recording. i am a classic gh user for me foto and video are equally important so no box camera for me. and they should update their mft lense firmware for gh7/g9 they did nothing to make them work better with phase detect af, and new innovative lenses for mft, the do nothing in this regard also

    Lumix isn’t even 5 percent of the market. Pie charts showing market shares of different companies don’t even have Panasonic named, they’re literally in the “all other” slice lol,

      Yet they have some of the best cameras on the market. The s5iix is better than 90% of sony cameras and the best camera in its price range.
