Wondefull recording! Thanks! Do you have the exact date and concert hall of the recording? Is it made from the audience of is a broadcasting recording made with profesional equipment? He just played that 3 sonatas? Usually at that time - 80s - he played 4 sonatas in his concerts.
Since I recorded it on cassette tape from a broadcast of "France Musique", I guess the concert was hold at Radio France, but unfortunatly I didn't take note of the precise date. I can't confirm either if there was some other work on the programm. Maybe after listening to the first piece I decided to record the rest of the recital. Anyway, I can remember very well how horrified was my cello teacher about this interpretation of Franck and this kind of playing (we had a discussion about it the next day at my lesson)!! Actually it IS stylistically very questionable in french repertoire, but I was fascinated by such a rich palette of colour, nobody of us had ever heard something like that before.
Dear Shafran Collector. I finally found out the correct date and place of this concert. Not in Paris, but indeed at the Dubrovnik Summer Festival on 23th July 1983. Recorded in 1984 from a broadcast on French Radio. I corrected the initial mistake in the video description, but the place is still wrong in the video opening titles. Sorry.
After checking out, it's likely to be rather 1984 than 1983. Live broadcasted by Radio France, my cassette tape recording.
immense!!!
Un Dio.
