Celestia has a secret lab where she is raising Spike's clones that are under magic control that gives opportunity to use clones as e-mail messenger and possibility to murder them by causing deadly letter vomiting (almost like in Return of harmony 2). Pretty brutal spell actually.
If you take the time loop to its logical conclusion, Starlight was never going to win this, simply by virtue of Twilight and Spike being immortal and Starlight not. It's clear that Starlight is maintaining continuity of consciousness here, so when Twilight restarts the loop the Starlight of the previous loop is pulled along for the ride, which means everyone involved is getting just a little bit older every time. Eventually Starlight will die of old age and Twilight will be free to just sit back and let the timeline progress naturally, restoring everything back to normal.

Is it every confirmed that Twilight is ageless now like Celestia and Luna? Either way, Starlight always had the option to end things. She could have killed Twilight right from the start. Starlight is constantly getting a rush from success, while Twilight is constantly failing her friends and seeing the horrific results of Starlight's messing with history. Twilight may be motivated now, but eventually all that mental anguish is going to pile up and her mind will start cracking under the strain until she becomes depressed. Even if Starlight will eventually die of old age, I don't think after 50 plus years, and thousands of loops of failing her friends, Twilight's mind is going to be in any fit state to celebrate. So, no, I don't think Twilight's victory was guaranteed in any way if they just kept continually looping.

I don't think Starlight could kill Twilight as easily as you're assuming. Tirek punched her through a mountain with no harm. And the fight between Starlight and Twilight ends in a stalemate, even though Starlight was dodging everything and had time to rest when Twilight went to alternate futures and Twilight tanked everything Starlight threw at her while dealing with alternate futures. Twilight isn't as good a fighter as Starlight, but she's tougher and way more powerful. If She pulled out all the stops Starlight would lose. Of course that would likely result in Starlight's death, and also disrupt the rainboom, neither outcome Twilight wants. I never said Twilight would win, just that Starlight would lose. You're right, if Twilight didn't snap and outright kill Starlight, or find some other way to win before Starlight died of old age she'd be very messed up mentally speaking. But the future would be restored.

Many people go on and on about Twilight, but in "The Cutie Re-Mark" Twilight had to use persuasion to get Starlight to stop. She is the ONE villain that Twilight couldn't beat. I will admit, I would have loved to see Starlight alter the timeline to where she was the Element of Magic. She is the superior magic user after all. I personally believe that some unicorns are born with talent while others have to learn it. Both Twilight and Starlight have a lot of talent and were born to be naturals, but Starlight was born a step above Twilight. They could have slipped out Applejack's explanation as "oh, when the war came, I returned back home to help with the food production". They could have easily replaced the 500 seconds spent watching Starlight monologue while Twilight doesn't even try to free herself from a pink rock . . . and considering they can blink in there . . . Also the next thumbnail looks pretty.

My headcanon is that Starlight didn't expect any great changes from stopping Twilight's friendships. If just hanging out with 5 strangers for a few hours allowed them to be close enough to activate the Elements of Harmony, then Starlight likely expected that some other group would take their place as the new Element bearers. Of course this then runs into the issue of the new Element Bearers coming to stop her plan, so she wouldn't be any better off if she was successful.

I believe the tree allowed Starlight to get to the map because it saw potential in her. After all, the map does call her on friendship missions later on, meaning that she has some slight connection to the elements, just like how the Student Six do. I think everyone who's connected to the elements in some form or another ultimately finds their way into each other's lives for the better. I know the pillars planted the tree, but I'm starting to think it was somewhat a deity of its own prior to its physical destruction.

How do we know the portal is going to the same one than before? . The "backstory" about how Princess Twilight "defeated" the Storm King in "Spring Breakdown" is different than in the actual MLP Movie.

U missed a sin, starlight is apparently able to find her way to the throne room in about 5 min but in later episodes, she is seen having trouble finding her way through the castle and that's after she’s lived in it for a while

It might be the case that the spirit of Harmony knows of all this, and thus is driving Twilight and Starlight to this eventuality. Starlight may be the Tree of Harmony's powerful, unknowing pawn, and the ponies' lives may be predetermined to a degree by the spirit of Harmony.

Yeah, I’m done with time travel. I’ve played around with it in my head, watched the entire Flash timeline get absolutely recked by it, seen all my childhood TV shows end up including it, and it’s probably not gonna stop there. There's a cloudwalking spell that was revealed back during the Sonic Rainboom episode. And going by the cutie mark switch episode unicorns can also mess with weather. So, yeah, pegasi aren't all that special.

An observation of mine: Dash only ever injures her right wing, in Read it and Weep, May the best pet win, and Wonderbolts academy BUT in the alternate war timeline, her left wing is the metal wing Missed opportunity for the headcanon that without her friends immediately bringing Dash to the hospital after she broke her wing (as the doc states when dash wakes up in the episode), they couldn’t save it, leaving her with the prosthetic.
Starlight: Creates an unstable time vortex to disturb the past to affect the present and future, ultimately leading to a series of events that will- at minimum- lead to the creation of several timelines with doomed futures, or- should MLP follow the linear method of time travel mechanics- permanently screw up the future for everyone, the Tree of/The Map of Harmony included. U missed a sin, starlight is apparently able to find her way to the throne room in about 5 min but in later episodes, she is seen having trouble finding her way through the castle and that's after she’s lived in it for a while

It might be the case that the spirit of Harmony knows of all this, and thus is driving Twilight and Starlight to this eventuality. Starlight may be the Tree of Harmony's powerful, unknowing pawn, and the ponies' lives may be predetermined to a degree by the spirit of Harmony.

Yeah, I’m done with time travel. I’ve played around with it in my head, watched the entire Flash timeline get absolutely recked by it, seen all my childhood TV shows end up including it, and it’s probably not gonna stop there. I’m so done with time travel, I don’t even think I want to hear one more thing about it ever again, even though I’m probably going to be dragged in anyway.

There's a cloudwalking spell that was revealed back during the Sonic Rainboom episode. And going by the cutie mark switch episode unicorns can also mess with weather. So, yeah, pegasi aren't all that special.

@@strawberrymilkshake3229 Her problem is that she was trying to do clouds in the mindset of a fashion designer. She made checkerboard patterns, and had some clouds make rain while some made snow. It's "fashionable" weather, but terrible for it's intended purpose.

2:35 The "Sonic Twi-Boom" is actually just an illusion. If you look closely, you can see her horn glow, causing the magical burst to happen whilst flying.

It is a fact that Twilight (even as an alicorn princess) would not be able to "kickstart" the same "chain reaction" that expanded all over Equestria [Rainbow Dash´s Sonic Rainboom was not that powerfull, but it is specifically "tunned" in a way that reacts with its laylines of magical power (Ponhenge its in a crossing of this lines)].

in the alternate war timeline, her left wing is the metal wing
Missed opportunity for the headcanon that without her friends immediately bringing Dash to the hospital after she broke her wing (as the doc states when dash wakes up in the episode), they couldn’t save it, leaving her with the prosthetic.
