"Can operate underwater". My experiences drowning any time i walk in chest deep water have proven otherwise 😂
Timothy Chan in Halo CE there is a mission where you can walk or drive a warthog in to water and survive.
Greg Gerrol Jr lol dont remember that
The mission is called the silent cartographer
You can completely submerge your body for as long as you want. The suit is so heavy and dense a Spartan can't swim. They can walk underwater, the suit is pressurized. Just good luck getting back out of the water they fall in.
Greg Gerrol Jr there is a mission in Halo 3 ( I think) where you can walk in a lake if you want to.
A Spartan 4 in gen 2 armors was said to be just as capable of a Spartan 2
"Said to be"
Dr_Dacosta a IV has only debatable improvements over an ODST, probably comes down to individuals, many IV's suffer from combat detriment attitude issues etc...lol
David Vander Ven ODSTs are highly formidable, recent media has once again began to show how good they actually are. In the First strike novel MC said that taking away armor and augmentation Spartans and ODSTs were no different from each other. And the best of them went on to be Spartans.
Dr_Dacosta it’s canon that they are
Joel Manning thats why 14 year old spartans could kick the shit out of 3 at once?
Post Augmentation. He's referring to Skill level not Physical Capabilities.
Thats the best retcon ive heard for the gap of thrusters. It makes perfect sense per the lore, that the newer suit finally had shields but at the cost of so much weight, that they had to ditch the thrusters until technology advanced to the point that the weight could be reduced or the thrust increased for the suit, which when it was, the thrusters were reintroduced. very well done.
Too true, I had completely forgotten how the thrusters had been abandoned as well as the MJOLNIR armour advanced into better upgrades throughout the years only to return eventually but with vast improvements.
I mean allot of the gen doesn't look good but the improvements lore wise are great.
I want to like your comment... But you're at 117...so it seems perfect.
Well... Some people ruined it. So I'll like now.
I wonder how they are going to reconcile this in Halo Infinite. Seeming as they have once again ditched thrusters (although maybe it'll be in the game as obtainable equipment like the grapple hook)
Pressure seal...can't walk in 10 feet of water
Game limitations. In cannon they do it just fine. Weird right?
its actually "PreASSURE seal. it pre assures that you're going to die. (Because Halo Canon failed the spelling bee)
@John Doe Somebody's poisoned the waterhole.
Game mechanics, invisible border...
10 feet?! If a Spartan stepped in a puddle, they’d be lucky to not explode!
I like the design of the mjolnir armor from halo reach.
Thor: mjolnir, to me! Master chief: Im coming!
Iron Man wouldn't have died if John were there
I dont know why, but this is absolutely hilarious
Thor wielding a master chief would be OP
"MJOLNIR black?"
Agent Texas-
Roses are red , violets are blue
SHEILA NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Spacedock, the Templin Institute, Star Wars Explained, and EckhartsLadder formed the Neutral Zone.
Halo Canon, HiddenXperia, Metalheadspartan, & Teh Spearhead should form:
The New Covenant.
What about Gold Team?
Halo reach had the best looking armors in my opinion they actually looked like they belonged in the halo universe and you could mix them together so well. I hope there will be another halo game where we play as a spartan 3 and can choose what armor we wear in the campaign (also the old art style)
With the incredible advancements in power generating technology in the post-war era, along with other advancements, I do hope they look back at the old Mk I-III designs and revive them to bring powered exo-armor to the average soldier.
Hell, the YGGDRASIL armor was unbelievable and it was operated by a regular marine. Not even an ODST, just a typical UNSC marine of the engineer corp. I can't even imagine what a post-war era version of that, with all the improvements and refinements would be capable of.
Mecha-san
Yes! That's exactly what the unsc needs! Currently the Marines feel like grunts to me and these badass Power armors would make them usefull.
NCR Elite Riot Officer *Looks at Sergeant Johnson and Kinsano in Halo Wars 2*
Yea, I think that’s coming along well...
Like the Cyclops that the marines can get into ?
Mecha considering the MK5-6 were more important, its possible they are ignoring the old ones. Am sorry man but you might be attempting to break the lore by saying that. If they bring back the old exo armour then what will the spartans be? Cannon fodder for the fucking exos? Or do you want every fucking marine in the universe to wear exos and make chief look like a pussy? Alright man be my guest. Kill our hero. BRING THE EXOS (sarcasm)
Wait till humanity reaches Tier 1 phase because of the flood.
I found one at the goodwill 2 days ago, really useful. Rearranged my house, vacuumed under the beds and fridge. Would definitely recommend 9/10 only issue is I broke both of my legs so now I can't take it off or I won't be able to walk, very similar situation with my arms. But super comfortable, also includes heated seats which was not on the function list.
Personal energy shielding, augmenting the eyes, bones and muscles of soldiers, self repairing nano technology and ai interface with users brains, but still using pump action shotguns.
Makes sense. Very few things hold a candle against shotgun rain.
Worked for the mandalorians against the Jedi! So....🤷♂️
I mean, shotguns are inherently simple and effective weapons. I don't see the issue here
It's the pump action aspect.
I friggin love the Mjolnir!!!! Thanks so much for this great History of it Halo Canon!!!!! :)
What if I told you in times of stress the suit releases a BioFoam to the groin area releasing a sexual stimulate to relieve stress.
Hey dude! Didn't know you were a Halo fan!!!
Its not *that* comfy, kinda itchy at times
@@ryrkra8096 never worked for me, guess it doesnt work for AIs
4:04 ahh are you sure about that because everytime I jump in water I die :)
Lol
Sharon thats the setback. It depends how harsh the water is. In halo 4 when you are escorting the mammoth you see 3 water streams which are very hot. If you jump in them it kills you.
that's the gameplay there
Halo CE, the cartographer...You can go out into the water as far as you want.
Over 100 variations... Well, that explains a lot.
Autobot Streaker Quantity over Quality.
Autobot Streaker Right?
The War Master it's my favorite and the lore behind that armor it's also interesting, and as always a beautiful video!
Mhmm especially given that it’s clearly a descendant of Emile’s helmet from halo reach. Though I like that the wrath helmet implies that all future headhunters will wear Emile’s skull.
A bit of a small side fact: Project MJOLNIR had a influence in the the ODST Battle Armor or just the BDU. Some systems were incorporated into BDU allowing ODSTs to work more effectively. GEN2 also had a few designed originally for ODSTs like the Helljumper as well as a MJOLNIR GEN 2 Variant of the BDU. (I'm going to be honest, it's very ugly, but I suppose if it functions better than the original BDU than it's fine.)
If you had to make me pick favorite armor? Recruit, it's simple and fits the looks of a fresh IV, but has a certain air around it that's hard to explain.
Mine is CIO because Splinter Cell.
The recruit armor actually looks like something a super soldier would wear in battle, or any soldier for that matter.
My favorite Armor is Helioskrill. In part because of the grind that was Halos 1-4 legendary, and in part because it looks absolutely amazing. I also love the fact that it was designed for humans by an Elite.
Achilles is by far my favorite halo helmet to date. I love putting it with the MKIV armor. Just looks menacing.
ODST and pilot have always been my favs. I like the MKV, and most of Gen 2 with some exceptions. Never really like the silhouette of MK6 didn't look military enough, it looked to iron Man/robotic rather then military super suit.
"works underwater" step 7 feet in the water dies
SoulGaming Surprisingly not in Combat evolved. You could submerge a completely and not die. Halo 2, 3, 4, 5 get ankle deep and die.
Ratkill9000 I believe in pretty much every game there are small bodies of water you could go in just not the ocean border stuff.
Aaron .J i remember I used to drive the warthogs underwater on the cartographer level and going underwater on the level where you have to retake the covenant cruiser
To be real for a second I remember what Gen 1 Mjolnir armor looks like. Mind you this was from Halo legends
Scratch Mjolnir armor i meant Gen 1 armor
A very extensive and informative video on the Mjolnir, almost like a documentary on actual military hardware; an excellent video.
Isn’t one exo skeletons shown in prototype from halo legends?
Avery peltier I don't think that it's Mjolnir, but it's probably inspired by it.
Yes that was Mark II, the reason was Irma's too big and wasn't practical for many reasons other than enigma seen and eliminating mass numbers at once.
It also cost alot of money to create so they went with Mark 3 which we don't know about too much then Mark 4 then 5 and 6.
That's from other UNSC program: the HRUNTING/YGGDSRASIL Program
+Central Command: The armor from Prototype it's from a different project, unrelated with MJOLNIR, named HRUNTING/YGGDRASIL (Mark I, to be precised): the Mantis it's the Mark IX version of this program
MrAvakstone92
but the mantis sucks. We need Marines in Power armor
Great video, you always are on point with your detail.
I think my favourite variant right now would be the Decimator variant! The closest thing we have to Gen2 MarkV[B] armor (my favourite GEN1 armor) plus it is the closest the UNSC has gotten to replicating the Mark VII model!
As easily as they could kill a Jackal and just take its shield generation, they couldn't have done that sooner? -__-
Yes. But its fiction
MJOLNIR in Lore: nigh impenetrable
In Halo 2 Legendary: slightly more durable then wet toilet paper
This is what I needed to watch! Great video!
EOD is my favorite! I loved that environmental armors with specific purposes were created. I wish you could put a custom team together based on armor enhancements for specific missions!
This is a really excellent overview, I've been hoping for something like this for years! Thanks!
My favorite armors are the CQB helmet (especially in Halo 3) and Reach's JFO shoulders. FOTUS and Helioskrill are also pretty high up there.
I want nothing more than for the reveal of Halo 6 that Master Chief is wearing his old armour
TheBlueSensei add the MJOLNIR mix, classic hog and a BR55 in the opening sequence, it would be awesome...
TheBlueSensei you gaht it!
Old armor would be vulnerable to cortanna hacking so it'll be old but also new
TheBlueSensei How’d you like the new trailer?
My favorites mjolnir-armors are eva and commando from reach. Although i really like fotus from 4 and noble from 5 too. And honorable mention to odst from reach.
SO MUCH GOODNESS! Thank you man
Gen.2 Venator.
This will always be my favourite
Be really interesting to see a visual timeline as I know it would be like specific dates and such but in general like by month/ year. Also some of the stories of corporate sabotage and contracts also the push into open source vs proprietary visors brings up different lore questions for me.
All around great video.
My favourite is the gen 2 vigilant armour! Basically juns armour but made for gen 2 and it has massive trusters and is bulky
UNSC Armament is gonna be an excellent series!
Aaaaahhhh sweet lore uploaded in Australian morning time, so much goodness
my personal favorites would be Hayabusa and helioskrill armor (to some extent of helioskrill armor).
if halo 5 has armor customisation. I would keep the helm, torso and shoulders of helioskrill. then replace the legs for Mark 4/5/6 (gotta protect the below the belt regions)
as for gauntlets it'll be Mark 6. well that's how he would look like anyways if there was customisation in halo 5.
Been waiting for a vid on this! Great job man
Hey halo Cannon,
Thanks for making these videos I really look forward to them. You make great content!
My favorite armor design is the WARRIOR set. I really think the HUNTER, RANGER, and EVA are awesome too. I really hope we see the MK-VII in future games!
G Truesdale My favorite is the mark V B along with the scout and eva from reach.
G Truesdale we did. Decimator in h5 technically is a version of mk vii
You do realize that the mark vii is already out and is being worn by S010
Oh! Didn't know that!!
Actuallly, Gen.2 armor uses MK.VII assets, like a modular hard suit plug ins to the soft suit, making the armor easier to craft for different situations
Aesthetically, Mk4 is still by far my favorite Spartan armor. Really hope we get to rock it in Infinite (also that Red team shows up in the story too).
Mark V and Mark V [B] were always the nicest looking imo, followed by John's updated Mark VI. I liked the Gen 1 version of Rogue from Halo 3 a lot too.
Its also worth noting that the titanium composite also included a layer of ceramic worked in to increase strength amd help dissipate heat.
H5 Centurion is my favourite of all time. But Gen1 Commando is a close second. There are soooo many cool variants in the series, but the gross ones stick out just as much if not more. Amazing work on the video, dude.
I think the fact that the armor basically fucks up any unaugmented wearer is a good security measure to make sure it isn't stolen and used by your enemy
it's really interesting to me seeing a different evolution lore-wise of a power armor in how it actually improved, with some bumps and concessions made along the way, through its history
Specially in comparison with other settings like WH where it actually got worse and more budget tier with each iteration until just recently
My favorite Halo 3 armor is certainly Security because of the throwback nature of it.
I recently bought an unopened limited edition Halo Reach box for $10 at a resell store. Had no clue about halseys journal inside, it's so informational about the Spartan program and mjolnir armor!
While I prefer Sangheili Combat Harnesses -(Hey Covvie Canon! Get a video on that uploaded)- I must say my favourite GEN I Armour is EVA, and GEN 2 goes to Helioskrill. These are the most alien armours and therefore the most badass. Another great video Halo Canon! Can't wait to see what comes next.
RIP Rouge Armor. It was the best one in Halo 3, I wish they would bring it back and update it like they did with the Scout Helmet in Halo 4
My favorite halo armor is the halo 3 hayabusa armor just the sweat katana makes you feel like a space samurai
There's just something I don't understand. If mjolnir was too expensive to justify spending on for a single soldier, and impossible for use by an unaugmented soldier, why didn't they at least offer the spartan iv augmentations to regular ODSTs? Sure some of them became Spartans, but why not allow non-Spartans the augmentations? Surely if you can't give them the armor, then at least give them a boost. Also, did they just forget about SPI armor? Why wasn't that mass-produced for lower-tier units?
I love Emiles EVA armour and his style for getting in peoples faces
FINALLY, someone on UA-cam who knows to correctly pronounce “Mjölnir!” (Myuhl-neer.) Way to go, ma man.
Brilliant as Always man. Bravo
My favourite armour is a red teams from Halo Wars 1&2 I just love how it looks but I also like Chiefs armour and Halo and I like the customisation in halo reach
I love the tech involved in the gen 2 armors, but I love the look of mark iv
Scanner is my fave that helmet is wicked awesome. Oceanic comes in a close second.
pls make a about marine weapons and armor and so on would be rly cool i love the h3 marine artstyle i hope they make HW2 marine artsyle instead of the halo 4-5 artstyle so baaad!
I like the updated look 343 gave the master chief, it looks more rugged, like hes been through a whole lot, which he has. It also makes him look more aggressive than the previous version we saw in halo 3 and whatnot. He SHOULD look aggressive, he looks badass.
Great video! when I was playing Halo the armor was my absolute favorite part! in Halo 4 I did the challenge to get the Enforcer helmet early!
"Poor bastard, snapped like a rubberband."
Codename: Mjolnir.
The subs: Mjolnir, Mule Near, Me Linear.
In fact, all these missubbings are lore-accurate. Mule Near - a Spartan can carry two weapons, including rocket launchers and portable railguns and ammo for them. Me Linear - the suit provides huge linear acceleration when running.
That personal sheild has saved me so many times.
For something so expensive, they sure made a lot of it.
That Mark 1 armor looks like Power Armor. Pretty cool
I want this to be a series so bad I only have a few sources for this stuff the wiki and three books and as a military tech aficionados i love this kinda stuff in halo especially all of the minute details.
tanks for the info specially the pages from halsey journal,
Great video! Super informative for how long it was. MJOLNIR is so cool
Mkv helmet and jun style chest is what I use in halo 5 and after my progression was lost 3 times in reach I want it there too.
Great and informational, Mjolnir quality video
Thanks man you coverd almost all my questions
Does every unsc member(even the marines)need to have a neural lace implanted?
Yep. Standard issue for all UNSC personnel.
Would probably spoil the look
But I've I always wondered why Standard marines don't have some rudimentary exos in the Halo timeline. Like the ones we see in development today(*Hulc*) or similar to the ones in Advanced Warfare.
I understand Spartans are as special forces as you can get but the technology gap between is too great
Leonard tha God Yeah good point
All UNSC personnel have a neural implant located at the base of the skull, for most enlisted personnel this is simply an IFF transponder used to avoid friendly fire incidents in combat. The Officer model is more advanced and allows for data transfer direct to the retina data transfer, to ensure that 'eyes only' documents remain eyes only as well as storage for a warships command codes.
Ben Lyon And to link up to the heads up display?
And gen 3 master chief looks....ohhh so amazing
I love the GEN2's throwback designs to NOBLE and RED team in the form of Mark 4, Intruder, Noble, Vigilant, Indomitable, Decimator, and Wrath.
My personal favorite of these throwbacks is Wrath Anhur.
I wish 343 keeps these tribute designs in Infinite
Always love your content. Im glad your posting again and i hope life's getting a little easier for you
15:42 that shit looks crazy they are straight shock troopers
I like the Gen-2 armor. Looking forward to the Halo game and I hope that we get to play who we want and to have 3rd person gameplay too.
Mark IV is by far my favorite. It is perfect. Mark V[B] is my second favorite. I also love the Halo Legends The Package/Forward Unto Dawn Mark IV variant that was worn by Master Chief.
Feeling the water hurts my everything.
Great video and great job with the details. Must take you some time to gather all the information from various sources.
I love that little bit at the end of the video the intro to Halo 5s red team even tho the girl(don't remember name) is the only one in red 🤣 she's a boss took out a wrath and a phantom
8:42-8:42 "Close quarter combat or CQB" CQB stands for close quarter ballistics btw
Huh I always thought that the armour enhanced the people, not the body suit. Well I learned something, nice video!
I still wish they had gone back to the older bulkier designs for unaugmented humans in the postwar era. I could even see it replacing ODST armor fully in a hot drop role, carrying much larger integrated weapons and shields to compensate for its bulk over the lighter spartan design.
But then the ODSTs would firmly become the book version of the Mobile Infantry from starship troopers. Which would be pretty danm cool to be honest.
Thankx halo canon for this video! I learned a lot of science
That Halo wars 2 spartan is so god damn nice to look at
Wait, if in halo wars 1 Spartans used mk 4’s that could not house ai chips, then how did that one spartan in halo wars 2 put an si in his helmet (when encountering Atriox)
That Gen 3 that's boutta be out gonna be some fyre 🔥
I loved the Operator helmet. It was my favorite one.
Besides that, I liked the recluse armor of the Halo5. Just needed a the Older gen crotch protector. and adding pouches of some sort and more customization for it.
This was enlightening
I’ve always wondered who has the better armor Master Chief with his MJÖLNIR Mark VI or Doomguy (2016) and his Praetor Suit. Any takers?
Logan 117 Big F*cking Gun 9000 can answer that question
So'tel Tallas lol, I feel like the BFG 9000 can kill just about anything including Doomguy
Logan 117 does the BFG use Argent energy or something else?
The OP is talking about the Armor not the weapons. The BFG is completely unrelated to the question. Good Day.
"Your new suit's a Mark VI, just came up from Seongnam this morning."
Stuff like this was why I subscribed to this channel initially. Laying out the concepts and evolution then fleshing them out. The way the armor is written and fleshed out can be more interesting than some of the characters. I think Halo as a franchise is in terminal decline sadly like a lot of SciFi, Star Wars also leaps to mind immediately and we can pretty much call Mass Effect dead too.
I love how there was no ORM for the test on the unaugmented soldier.
Mark 6 will always be my favorite
