I may be the boyfriend of the relationship outfit, but I'm using this to help myself think more clearly about my girlfriend who is incredibly bossy, arrogant and manipulative. I think this video could have been framed as general good relationship advice.

There are plenty of ideals being mentioned here, and I hope they can be used as encouragement for growth in the individuals rather than reasons to blame one side or the other for the way two people happen to work off of each other at that time. We all can grow and change. Sometimes one side can be drawn into a dynamic with someone that feels comfortable and easy, but is not ideal.
The problem is that there are many girls and women that do exactly the things mentioned in this video. This useless sacrifice for others even if they're abusive and toxic mindset has got to go.

But there is one recommendation that is questionable, and we are missing one piece of relationship advice that is the 'inverse' of one of the suggestions. the questionable one: 'Don't give up your financial independence'. Sorry.. this is not as cut and dried as it seems. Marriage is about not just love, but separation of responsibilities. It is totally ok if both spouses want to do this, but we should recognize that teamwork is part of marriage, and if either spouse decides to stay home with the kids, it should be ok for that spouse to be financially dependent. This is how it has worked for a LONG time now in our species. There is nothing wrong with having a plan like this as long as everyone agrees. the addition: just like there is one item that says 'don't let a man manipulate you', there should be another that says 'don't try to manipulate your husband'. This might seem like common sense, but given my experience while dating years back it is very clear many women never heard this message. Relationships are built on mutual respect above everything else. If you can't show your partner enough respect to not try to manipulate them, then having a relationship is going to be a fail (this also goes for men).

My own addition to a list like this: women don't need to be treated as though it's still the 1950s. I'm a guy, and I know some men still think like that, even though women can be CEO same as men. Women can do all things. It is their fundamental right. But as a man, all I heard was a clear warning not to get into relationship. Be independent and live for yourself. When you study, earn and do all hard work then why does that go to someone else. When you did hard work 100% then make sure that you get the benefits of that 100%. Do not get offended. Anyone who wants to marry can. I have no hatred towards anyone. It is completely personal choice. Work for yourself and live for yourself.
The title should read "12 Things **One** Should Never Do For **Their Partner**". All of these "Nevers" apply to both men and women. I am saying this as a men who was unknowingly in a toxic relationship with a well-intending but harmful woman with unhealthy attachments.
