    Great instructional video. I have one suggestion: when installing the non-drive side, and after you've taken care to align the treaded holes, wouldn't it be wise to orient your press tool such that the spinning portion is on the previously-installed side, rather than the non-drive side so that you don't risk inadvertently spinning the holes out of alignment as your spinning the press tight? Just a thought.
    As always, thanks much for sharing.
    Steve

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 роки тому +3

      Good thought. The handle side has a plate that uses a teflon bushing to allow it to stay stationary with the cup while the handle spins. This reduces the potential for the issue you brought up.

      Agreed! He thinks we know as much as he does almost. Be more clear on the parts please. I think he put american cups in 1st to accomidate a euro cup. Euro bb's have to screw into place. If it cant screw into the frame I guess u grab amer cups. Fuckin hybrid bottom bracket n shit.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 роки тому

      The best way to tell if a bb needs facing is to start facing it. The initial cut will tell you how off the BB is and wether or not you should continue.

    LOVE this vid, TruVativ adapters came this morning. I’m doing this conversion on a 2006 Redline MX 24, how would I find out the torque specs for this particular bike for the BB adapter bolts? Tubes are chromoly, but wouldn’t the torque be more of a guess?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 роки тому +1

      The torque spec on the 3 bolts is 5NM. The bottom bracket torque will be dependent on the bottom bracket used but is typically somewhere around 40Nm.

    Is there a way to convert say Technique 181mm Cranks with American BB and 25mm spindle to fit a newer BMX frame with mid sized BB's like a Hyper Wizard, S&M, Subrosa...etc.???? Thoughts?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 роки тому

      It is a bit surprising Technique does not have an adapter for this. A threaded adapter could be made, similar to the Campagnolo adapters. The Mid bb's uses a 41.2mm bearing. Road bikes offer various options for the 24, 25 and even 30mm spindles for similar shells. Contact Technique. Otherwise a good machinist can make anything....for a price.

  • @alisterbeveridge6110

    I have never heard a BSA bottom bracket being referred to as Euro. Is it not more commonly called English thread as opposed to the Italian thread and others used in mainland Europe. Does BSA not stand for Birmingham Small Arms? The company that invented it which is of course in England.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  3 роки тому +1

      It is common in BMX to call BSA or English threaded bottom brackets "euro" bottom brackets. We bring it up in the video as most of these adaptors have "euro" in the name, so if someone wants to look for one it may be easier to find with that in the search bar. Yes Birmingham Small Arms is what BSA stands for.

    • @parktool
