      I'm an experienced dune guy. Get a quality portable compressor. The kind that hooks to the battery terminals.
      Drop your tire pressure to under 20 psi. Maybe as low as 15.
      Never stop when pointed uphill. Always try to start downhill. You will be the puller instead of the pullee! I can tell your that kind of dude (you remind me of me)

    It is always enjoyable to watch you and the crew in action.
    I think the majority of your rescues involve folks the don't know, what they don't know. Too many people underestimate the ability of their vehicles to save them from themselves. I learned from following my father around back in the 70's that knowing what your vehicle is capable of and having the skills to implement those capabilities are key to getting the job done.
    It is also very obvious that the manner in which you and your crew treat people that are very likely having a bad day, is genuine and very often turns what could have been a very bad day into an enjoyable experience. We all, viewers included, learn something from that.
    Thanks Matt, for all you and your crew do...

    I actually went to Sand Hollow at the end of June with my family from California just because I discovered it from binge watching this channel. I didn't go that far up into the Dunes as it was my first time there and I didn't want to get stuck, although we were prepared with a 2nd vehicle and my brand new Matt's Off Road Recovery Rope and Soft Shackles. Ended up using it to get a pregnant lady, her teenage son and a toddler unstuck from the beach in her stock Cherokee with my heavily modified Fj Cruiser. She said she had been stuck for a couple hours. I barely finished getting them out when a stock Wrangler got stuck. Me and my boys got them out too. Moral of the story is 2 things... Matt even when you're not helping People your helping People, and the big hug she gave me was partially due to you and your crew! 2nd moral of the story is try not to get in over your head, be prepared and if you do get stuck out there call Matt's Offroad Recovery!

    • @jonkirkwood469
      @jonkirkwood469 2 роки тому +1

      Air-down makes a huge difference on sand. I air-down to 15 psig on day one at the beach. Hit the beach daily. Take it easy on pavement for a week, then air-up the night before I leave. It took me years to realize I didn't need to stand next to the wheels in the hot sun adjusting pressure. I also use Staun Tyre Deflators to air-down. I'm either getting lazier, or wiser. I've only been momentum delayed twice in 40 years. And one of those was because I forgot to shift to 4WD.

      @@Nightryderthebronco IIRC, Matt is also running beadlocks on the MORRvair, which allows him to go that low, and he's got huge tires with lots of sidewall. On regular wheels, 10-15psi is about as low as you can go without risking popping a bead. And don't try it with low profile tires, they don't belong off road at all...
