This isn't a rare situation. This is a calculated situation. She most likely dived in, in the middle of the day, when the sharks are less hungry, off camera they most probably even threw carcuses of tuna, to test there hunger levels. They clearly picked a perfect day, lots of visibility meaning the shark isn't in hunting mood. If they can do the same demonstration during poor visibility and during sun rise or sun set, or where there is a seal colony, I would believe in there method. 👍 Otherwise its all a trick.
That said I do believe she's a brave lady, but I believe these messages are overall sending the wrong message, and people like the man who died in Sydney listened to these video that present sharks to be like a Disney movie.
The fact is, if a Shark attacks and is in hunting mood, he isn't going to be cruising along close to the surface, they attack from incline from the bottom up, where you least expect. Clearly the tiger is just cruising ontop.
Basically what this lady taught was how to avoid a shark conflict when the shark is in a peaceful mood 😂👍

As somebody who's been diving for 50 years & who's encountered many sharks this UA-cam post is correct. Only time a big shark took a real interest in me was when snorkeling at the surface & it bumped me as I lifted myself off its back. No problem, in this case it was a 14 foot juvenile whale shark being inquisitive!

Sharks don’t prey on humans but they’ll approach you because they’re apex predators and humans aren’t common in their environments, they’re also curios and social creatures by nature so they fearlessly want to see what you are. More often than not, they turn away unless you’re small, or if they mistake you for a seal which is commonly the case for surfers

As a result, you don’t have time or the vision to see them cruising over to you gingerly. This technique isn’t appropriate there. Gypsys comment is great- this theory is nice until you’re in a situation where it’s useless.

Idk where these tiger sharks are . But let me tell you people , the ones from Hawaii are very aggressive . Never swim alone, always have a buddy or a group . The tiger sharks I’m use to , rush you out of curiosity , sometimes trying to bite . Most of them I seen were agressive and curious

The fishermen stayed at shore for weeks because great whites were seen in the area. When you have a bunch of professional fishermen not going in the water, even though their families depend on the money they make, that is a GREAT HINT!

It’s best to stay calm because if you panic they will most definitely see you as prey and start attacking.

you can see that by looking at the records, most attacks happen when a shark see some meatbag splashing so much water, get curious and "test" if its a prey, with usually means taking a weak bite

and that it, sharks dont go actively hunt humans, when they attack is by mistake or some really, really unusual situation

Sharks are very curious creatures they usually test bite things or bump into them to see if it's food which can be a problem the bigger a shark is
There is no indication that the shark is going to attack so the best thing to do is move it out of the way peacefully, attacking it would make it feel threatened so doing so would be hella stupid also they don't even like human meat most shark related deaths come from people bleeding out from a bite
Yeah I know I'm doing the "um actually 🤓👆" thing but it's important to let people know that these animals aren't dangerous murder machines and can actually be friendly towards people

Hello here 8 months from the future. Best advice is just don’t go swimming in the ocean. Even if u call urself a professional at this cz a video was just released of a man gettin mauled on camera by that very same beautiful creature. Ur not always gonna see the shark coming and if it swims at u full speed let’s see how trying to put ur arm on top of its head goes for u

Just stay calm. I know it sounds super bad and dangerous but if you stay calm and exit the water slowly it probably won’t attack

Literally the worst thing you can do is stick your hand in front of a shark’s mouth.
If a shark is rapidly approaching, this is definitely better than doing nothing and getting test bitten. They have electro receptors there which overloads their senses
