That is way too specific😂
So basically les mis
Haha?
The thing that strikes me most about the song is that it truly sounds like a pink floyd ripoff in the worst way possible. The way that songs of theirs (esp ones on Animals) will have a message or a motivation in one part of the song and then in the following part comes the nudge and wink that it was satire or world building and proving a larger point by the band in the next section is what makes things like that really work. Here, it feels like this inital song is so plainly stating it's stance and that stance is so laughably presented (and bad) that you expect it to be followed up by something that says "yeah that's so overly simplified and braindead and stupid" but that never happens, the other shoe never drops.
It sounds like they know what Pink Floyd sounds like, but didn't bother to listen to any of their albums attentively
Does he know that Pink Floyd is a leftist group?

This actually didn't sound so bad as a PF ripoff (it's still a ripoff of 70s music tho), and sounded better than Nostalgia's critics shit. Although lyrics were pretty bad. Message without context is so unclear I really didn't get nothing. Tho I must say, fantano's criticism of this as simply as a boomer music does bad to his auditory, that later will be calling boomer music awful. How do you enjoy boomer classics then if it makes you sleep? Mostly agree on this song but this was an L argument.
The boomer criticism wasn’t because it sounded old, it just literally sounds like most derivative boomer rock possible. He didn’t say Rock classics from the boomer era are bad, but a lot of boomer Rock is pretty bad.
It’s the same thing as his “Millennial Pop” criticisms. He loves a lot of Pop music made by millennials, but a lot of Millennial Pop is horrible.
@@pazuzu6589 thanks for clearing that out for me. Was just listening to some Roxy Music, who are the godly boomers of 70s 🤣
Gonna be honest, I had no idea what to expect with this thing but this was about as far as possible from any expectations I could have had.
What a comeback from Fink Ployd!
But whats the message when played backwards?!?!
One lyric that Anthony didn't talk about that stood out to me: "You could have built a home"
This is the classic conservative externalization of their own failures. If you don't own a home, it's Trudeau's fault obviously. Or the immigrants. Or the Chinese buyers. Whoever they need the scapegoat of the day to be for a complex economic issue that has no single person or entity at fault.
Real estate prices are a particular political flashpoint in Canadian politics right now; JBP is just trying to press all of the "Trudeau bad" buttons he can. The shameful conman as always.
I appreciate that Anthony covered this topic a little bit and called it exactly what it was. Just look at the astroturfing already underway in this comment section. It was a foreign-funded, white supremacist occupation aimed at overthrowing the government.
Edit: to the incredulous, low-effort, one-line replies, if you earnestly believe the convoy was an innocent protest, I'm sorry to see that other Canadians have become so partisan that they can no longer see reality. You went from taking little sips of misinformation on Facebook to gulping down harmful disinformation from anywhere you can find it to justify your political beliefs. The farther you get from reality, the more you need to cope in these sad ways. Get a fucking grip and re-join society.
jesus christ, that's a fucking reach
Canadian rent is absurd but...what?
Locker fry get exhausted
So I do want to say i agree with most everything you've said but as someone from Vancouver who followed municipal and provincial politics closely Chinese buyers are one hundred percent a serious issue in this country. But here's the thing: any community of ultra rich people using our housing market as a stock market would be. It's the fact that the buyers happen to be Chinese that make the people who would normally decry such a thing scared to do so, and the people who wouldn't give a fuck if it were a bunch of white guys from england scream "GloBaLiSt MaRxIsT GrEaT RePlacement." The narrative surrounding that issue here is completely poisoned by irrational histrionic partisans.
The whole thing was a “white supremacist occupation aimed at overthrowing the government”? Really? Is it not possible that it was mostly about vaccine mandates and governmental overreach and that there were a few bad apples who also showed up?
JBP is just Rush Limbaugh for dudes who think "Creep" is a better song than "The National Anthem."

this is the most condescending, preachy, pretentious song I've ever heard. it's sole existence almost makes Pink Floyd worse
Because Jordan Peterson himself is a preachy and pretentious person
The fact that these lyrics are sincere Peterson rhetoric yet having them in a Floyd-esque song makes them seem satirical
Peterson's lectures in tandem with his 12 Rules For Life REALLY helped me at a time where was getting IRL therapy and needed it....but....his political takes have gotten so far out there. It's not like they weren't bad before, but the takes used to have a degree or 2 of self-awareness. Now the self-awareness has been replaced by bigotry, and I'm no longer a fan of JBP
Jordan does what a lot of cult leaders do. They lead with good advice and positive affirmation, then they switch the bait out and ask you to accept crazy nonsense. It's how the Scientologists recruit, and it's a common theme I notice among other cults as well.
Jordan showed me how awesome Jung, Kant, and Dostoyevsky are. But now I just read those guys instead of Jordan.
@@EricLeafericson yeah i hear ya, I'm happy for the advice JBP gave me...but I was able to recognize when what he was saying especially from a political standpoint was really unhealthy. And it's less about how bad the takes are, but how steadfast he is in said takes.
@@nickmacon300 would you mind giving some examples of his wild political takes because I haven’t followed him too closely in a while and agreed or at least could see merit and logic in all the stuff I saw from him early on when he first started gaining fame both on political and philosophical topics and normally when I see people who are against him they have misinterpreted what he said in my opinion or only saw a short controversial quote not the full explanation that adds loads of caveats and is much more reasonable. I’m asking because you actually seem to have a reasonable view of the guy in comparison to those who blindly love/hate him which is pretty rare for any subject on the internet.
I feel like a lot of the stuff that you picked up of him being self aware was simply him getting his foot in the door. He didn’t go full cult bigotry out the gate because he would have been torn apart by anything not conservative and then would only build a fanbase of people already on the right. Peterson’s power has come from indoctrinating a bunch of impressionable youth and young adults with things that sound smart and important (specifically the rules of life thing), then fully doing to dip into bigotry once they’re strung along. From personal experience, I assumed a lot more people were being “ironic” in the commentary Leafy era because I was naive to the fact that ableism, transphobia, racism, homophobia, and all other types of hatred are very real. Once you get into that circle and all you hear is that stuff, you get turned away from hearing about the actual horrors that they’re blatantly trying to downplay. Jordan Peterson probably doesn’t believe he’s “indoctrinating” anybody, but his specific targeting of youths with moderately conservative fluff and then serving as a gateway into that nasty world of bigotry is the effect he has had. I feel like there’s been a shift toward discrediting Peterson (with him getting removed from many schools, getting “outed” by a couple journalists, and mostly falling into his conservative echo chamber) but that could just be me hoping
Glad you saw the light and are no longer red pilled. Welcome to reality.

My thoughts exactly, it's blatant rip off with vague and pseudo emotional lyrics, but the melody wasn't that bad but the guitar riff was redundant. The message behind it is what makes it shit, but apart from that it isn't as bad as fantano makes it out to be.
He's only saying it's bad because he doesn't know shit about politics so he has to resort to jumping on agendas, and with the Jordan Peterson thing, because he considers himself "left" is the "lets hate on Peterson" bandwagon/agenda. Wagner did it well sonically and theatrically
Honestly there’s lots more too especially in old blues artists, beating up your wife, shooting her extra marital lovers etc..
To use Wagner as an example is anyways weird to me, like that was almost two centuries ago, to say Wagner is conservative in the way that conservative is used in our current globalist landscape is a bit off the mark. Like yes, racism and nationalism check, but many of his themes and approach to operas at the time were far from conservative, and there have been many post modern (even socialist) interpretations of his work by people like Adorno. Really most of his 'conservative' views came through his writings and reputation. I don't think he really extolled conservative values as strongly in his music.

The song is obviously from the perspective of the government. Telling people what to do. I dont agree or disagree with the song that's just what the lyrics are in the perspective of. The tone in the voice and the instruments in the background paint the picture.
@@RapCity101 your definition and my definition of “obvious” are vastly different. I had a hard time following this song with the words being placed in front of me.
@@LexanderMiller I think the song is cringe but dont let your bias blind you. The lyrics itself shows an authoritative figure over the viewer with the repetition of "You". And the dark and demanding tone of the voice. This tells us what the producer(s) want to paint the authoritative figure. Who ever it is. In a bad light.
@@RapCity101 rofl if you say so. I’m not gonna listen again to find out. Keep telling people about their biases while lying about what’s actually happening in Canada though, pal.
@@LexanderMiller I havent said anything about Canada. I just explained to you how to use skills they teach in gcse english...
