Hi Jess, I am a Podiatry Assistant with the NHS. I came across your videos & find them really interesting, especially to see how things work privately.
Take heart about the phone Jess, I’m sat here in Japan and watching you thinking about the journey into becoming an FHP which for me begins soon. Mate you’re an inspiration 🤔🤔keep up the great work and please keep going.
Hi Jess! Thank you for taking us along on your day! I still have not started. I think at this point January is my goal. I recently took and passed my Certified Foot Care Specialist test and my RN license in IL is finally active. That took a month after submission of my application. Now on to meeting with a business attorney hopefully next week. I plan to use a light weight rolling tool box. I will let you know how that works out once I start. The packs seem like a great idea but I can see where it could be cumbersome to manage. 😊
Congrats on passing your tests 👏. Why do you need to meet with a business attorney out if interest, things are so different over the pond 🙂. Yes please do keep me updated with the rolling toolbox. Message me on Instagram the photo of it when you buy (if you're on Instagram that is ) x x
Hi Jess thank you for these videos. I am still in training, so they are really helpful, especially when we get to see real feet and how your day goes, as I'm immersed in theory at the moment. Really interesting.
@@kevinwhynot3168 Fungal nails are a right pain!!! i've used the fenestration technique and the clients applies treatment daily, or i bur the nail down as thin as possible and the clients applies topical treatment. I know of a FHP who has recently invested in a laser machine to treat, i'd happily refer some of my clients to her !! Most of the time clients are non compliant, they start off well but having to apply treatment daily, the cost etc, they just don't do it regularly, which doesn't help. If its superficial white OM i just file/bur it off . What do you do for OM nails ?
Hi Jess. I have been a FHP with Smae for 20 years and find your channel inspiring seeing how you pack your bag and organise your equipment. I have the same bag and love it. Do you charge more for Ingrow nails and using the onyfix correction? Well done for speeding up your time. Some of my clients keep me there for ages showing me their photos etc and I find it hard to leave before 45-60 minutes. Thank you. Nicky
Hi Nicola, thanks for this message :) and the encouragement! I charge differently for the application of an onyfix band. The recommended price given was £40 for a full band and £25 for a half band, the prices are in addition to the price you normally charge. TO be honest i'm still pondering whether to decrease my sessions as i like the time i have spare, but i know there are times i'm sitting for 45 minutes when that time could be a client. Maybe i'll trial it and see how it goes. but like you, my clients like to talk which I enjoy too...BUT time is money x
Hi Jess Thanks for posting these video’s, they are very useful! I’m coming out of driving instruction after 10 years to do this. I fancied a total career change, but come from a science background originally, with a science degree. I’m used to stress, but wondering what the most stressful aspects of this job are. If it’s any consolation, I was forking out hundreds on buckled tyres and burnt out clutches! I guess every job has its challenges 😂Thanks again
Hi Emma, that is a completely different career change. Good for you 😊. My most stressful times are when I get last minute cancellations and rebooking, although I don't get loads because my clients are very good. But last week I had 3 cancellations. For valid reasons, but that then caused a gap in my day where I may have been able to fill it. I try to attract the clients that are no nonsense and that reduces stress for me. Oh I also hate cleaning my instruments after a day of work 🥰
@@notapod1 Thanks for the reply! I think you’re doing a great job and are a real inspiration! I used to charge my clients a late cancellation fee, but I guess it’s different with feet, could loose client? I’m hoping I have some cross over skills, with the time management and patience dealing with clients. Over lockdown I found myself dealing with the families feet, and loved it! I managed to successfully treat two ingrown toenails, verrucas and a corn. Not encouraging untrained people to attempt it in any way, but all surgeries were closed at the time. Thank goodness for UA-cam! 😅 Wishing you all the very best x
@emma smith I've found in foot care cancellation fees don't work too much, so I've just adopted that those who are 'frequent flyers' will need to pay at time of booking, if they cancel last minute it's non refundable. 😀 x x
Both from Chiropody Express, although most suppliers stock too. There are 2 types of umbrella burs, the PBS bur which creates less heat to the other so when or if you buy please keep that in mind x x
