Peace Queen!!! The babies holding the chickens are adorable!!! Was that Mr. Dandy in the back??? If you decide to sell seeds to the Kajari melon, let me know!
Hey, I'm from India 🇮🇳 Right from where this Muskmelon variety originates, I wonder why is your melon size that tiny? Alos, it is mild orange in color as well and oke of the sweetest melons you'd ever find. Try and find out the soil type and the lack of micronutrients it had. It should've been extremely sweet.
Greetings. I am in love with Kajari melons, not necessarily for their taste....hear me out. Agreed, their aroma is intoxicating, And I too was a little let down with the almost bland taste. But here's the secret. Take a melon, slice the whole thing thin, add it to a gallon pitcher with water and sugar and you'll have one of the best tasting punch's you'll ever have in your life...lol. I homebrew wine and have a Kajari melon wine mellowing as I type this. Hopefully I'll get to bottle it soon. I would keep growing them for drinks alone...lol. Happy Gardening Queen Barefoot.
Im growing Kajari for the 1st time. Ive read that after ripening you let them rest a couple days after picking to boost their sweetness. Ill know better later this summer.
@BAREFOOT_IN_THE_GARDEN There is a trick to Tiggers and Kajari. You want drought. Drought will sweeten them up some, but they never be sweet as small melon like Charentais or PetitGris d'Rennes (those are very tasty and small, and Baker has them). The second trick is, dont wait till they fall off the vine. The entire melon will be mealy and mushy if you get them off the ground. Same texture as the softened stems. If you cut them early, they will have that bite and nice texture. Third trick, if you can smell them, harvest immediately. You can walk past your patch and if you smell a melon its needs to come in. So If its getting ripe and youre about to get big rain, cut one and try it. Otherwise, when they melon is getting close, stop watering completely (only if it looks like its in bad shape). TLDR: Low Water, Cut it off the Vine, and if you can smell it its probably turning mealy right then. Personally, i choose different melons. Also very hot climates, i think muskmelons do better in our zone 9.
First of all, your girls are the cutest! I was upset when the seeds were sold out, I had heard so many great reviews. I hate to hear that they weren’t sweet at all
Peace Be Unto You, I've missed you; your going to live a long time I about about to look you up. Your daughters are so beautiful and I love their relationship with the garden and chickens; thank you for sharing. I think I'll still try growing them. Are you selling seeds?
@@myrhodeislandreds3885 I think most people grow on the ground - I couldn’t this year because the chickens free range right now - and they get to everything

Hey hey those are some interesting melons. The littles are so precious handling those chickens. What are bottle gourds used for?
That’s a beautiful melon. The kids are adorable with the chickens 😍
Your garden is so beautiful!

Sorry but thats not a Kajari Melon. Looks like a Tigger Melon. The outside color is wrong also Kajari has green inside. Looks good though

Those babies with the chickens made my whole day!
Lol Aw thanks - I will let them know 😘
They made my day too.. HOW ADORABLE THEY ARE !!!
I thought they were supposed to be green and orange/yellow stripes when ripe? I could be wrong but I want to try them too.
I thought the same thing !!!! Idk maybe they put the wrong seeds in my seed packet lol !!!!!
They are too cute 😍
This is crazy, I just bought 7 variety of fruit seeds from Baker Creek. I was hoping it was a legit site and now I'm at ease seeing you have.
Oh lovely ! Def a legit company and my Favorite !
Wow never seen one of those melons!

I was thinking the same thing.
@@myrhodeislandreds3885 yes I believe so. They both fell off the vine
@@homesteadinthehood11212 yea they both dropped from the vine
@@myrhodeislandreds3885 I think most people grow on the ground - I couldn’t this year because the chickens free range right now - and they get to everything
But people also grow up trellis as well - they usually tie the watermelons to the trellis to keep them from dropping
Those are pretty, but I was hoping they were sweet
Me too -
That looks like a Tigger melon rather than a Kajari. They were hyped up at the same time as the Kajari but they werent as popular or tasty
Your absolutely right ! About everything lol
@@Wilddmother I actually saw your follow up video after this lol

My sister grew this year and felt the same way. She thought they'd be great if you were just thirsty
There is ancient lore in india that the kajari was bred by a djinn demon
I planted them but I will not do it again no one in my house like them
It probably hasn't got the sugars yet it bedded to mature a little more
Yes - they both dropped off the vine - only think left to do at that point is eat em lol
This is not Kajari melon 100 %.
Tiger melon
Yes lol
