J.K Rowling’s series of wizarding magic took the world by storm and solidified it’s place in a lot of people’s childhood nostalgia. But when it came time to bring these books to the big screen, some changes were eventually going to be made. And die-hard fans of the books weren’t that happy about it. Behind the scenes, there were a lot of different factors contributing towards removed characters, easter eggs and deleted scenes! From Rik Mayall playing Peeves the ghost, to Voldemort’s backstory, to Dumbledore shaking down Harry saying “DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE?”
Fans were either disappointed or flat out raging that their favourite parts were removed or changes were made without rhyme or reason. Why was the Weasley Burrow burned down? Why did Ginny and Harry have a really awkward relationship? Was Half Blood Prince a Rom-com? Did the Marauders even matter? AND WHY WAS RON A BAD CHARACTER?

Not every Harry Potter scene adapted directly from the books is going to please fans and there are some scenes the films just got incredibly wrong. However, there are also some scenes the movies perfected.
Yep looking at other ya adaptations there’s no real point complaining about the movies because they did a better job than just about anyone else

For me, my biggest beef came from the people and events missing from the movie I was looking forward to the most and that was The Goblet of Fire. First being the bit with the Weasleys showing up at the Dursley's house via floo powder, the fact that Bill and Charley Weasley were not at the Burrow to greet Harry when he left with them, and more than any other the lack of any actual game time footage of the Quidditch World Cup. I was so excited to see them recreate the QWC and we don't get to see a single second of the actual match taking place.

the movies are worse they added things but got rid of some of the best parts of the books

the only change i was really disappointed in...the movie half-blood prince dropped the scene that Dumbledore tells Uncle Vernon off....that was the best scene in the sixth book to me

So many Harry Potter fans complain about their movies cause they don’t put in some small details from the books and don’t realize they r some of the best book to movie adaptions of all time.
Allow me to explain on behalf of all of us angry book fans.
The fact that they are complained about regularly prove that they are recognized as good
If fans thought They were bad they just wouldn't acknowledge their existence at all.
Alot of people love the movies,
They gripe because they see how good they are.
Kind like eating your favorite cake but wishing the sprinkles were a different color.
People who love books WILL act like well... Spoiled or even bratty children about adaptations.
We nitpick the good and outright refuse the bad.
Essentially HP says "I like it/it's really good, but..."
Most other fandoms are like "nope".
Go movies upset people, but few people hate them.
Gambon is nowhere near the Dumbledore that Richard Harris was, they should have cast Peter O Toole as per his wishes!
Michael Gambon’s Dumbledore was outrageous. This mistake overshadows any other ones for me :/
You missed “Bulgarian minister,Dudleys gang, kreachers redemption ark, Harry’s green eyes, dudlys hair, Ginny, Ron’s face, quidditch World Cup and many more.I know dudleys gang were in Order of the Phoenix but they need more screen time
Not everything that works in books works in movies, for many reasons. Sometimes changes have to be made, either because they work better on the screen, they can't be done on the screen, or for time constraint. Admittedly though, some unnecessary changes are made that didn't need to be and would have been better if they stayed true to the books. The changes in the Harry Potter series, yes, mostly were not the best choices.
I hated it when they cut off all Sirius scenes in GOF 😡😡

Did anybody notice that Hermione and Harry performed extra underage Magic in Movies:
Hermione(Chamber of Secrets) - Reparo in Diagon Alley.
But as per book Ron's father will repair Harry's glasses .
Harry(Prisoner of Azkaban) - Lumos in Dursley's house for doing Homework.
In book Harry will use a torch, only after running away from privet drive he will use wand for light.

Not to nitpick, but Sir Cadogan did appear in the Prisoner of Azkaban. He's hopping around in the background paintings after the Fat Lady is attacked.

One of the things about J. K. Rowling that irked me the most was her vacillating second-guessing of her own work, which I've never heard of in regard to any other famous author, now includes the fact that she displayed the same attitude when I find _she was okay with the idiotic changes "Hollywood" made to her work._ (From the interviews in the Bonus Material from the first movie, Steve Cloves, the original screenwriter, consulted with her and changed some of his little additions or modifications to conform with the novel's---as well as subsequent novels'---plot points.) I'll stick to the novels, which I reread every autumn. Stay safe, everybody.
I always reread the novels in late spring/early summer.

The Artemis Fowl movie is worse btw.
No explanation of the Mauraders Map in the 3rd movie.... Or the identity of the makers.... Or how Lupin knew what it was.... Or the strong bond between them.... Why? Just.... Why? There was SO MUCH extra stuff put into it.... But not enough time to explain the main plot line of the book? Grrrrrrr! It's my least favorite movie.
Harry Potter should be a tv series in the future then the problems in the movies like the time problems and the gaps in the story's wouldn't be a problem.

I never read the books. Do they explain why the wands don't change loyalties until the end? The movies said disarming a wizard changes their wand's loyalty. But they spent a lot of time throughout the movies disarming each other, and the wands never seemed to change loyalties until the last couple movies. I never understood that
The wand will probably not change sides while practicing.
You can win a wand only in a fight I think.
Also, the wand chooses the wizard.

When draco cursed harry in train and in book Nymphadora Tonks saved him but in movie Luna Lovegood. I loved that scene when tonks saved harry but they chaged this in books. I think the way books described every character and their feelings movies can never do that. Infact Warner Bros did a fantastic job with movies and if u didn't read a book and u watched movied u find them flawless but if you read the book then u feel happy about some scenes and feeling disappointed about some.

Harry Potter would be incredibly redone as a TV show 👌. I like the film's design and music, but they had to cut so much because of run time that you don't really get the magic. Voldemorts missing back story from HBP was really disappointing for me as well as the GOF plot twist with Barry crouch jr which was so obvious in the film's that it wasn't a twist at all.

I was upset that Peeves wasn't in the movies, he was my favorite character.
Book: "Harry, my dear boy, did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire?"
Movie: "HARRY HARY POTTER DIDUPUTYOURNAMINTOTHEGOBLETOFFFIRE"
Book: "and harry returned the wand to his old mentor's grave, seeing him one last time..."
Movie: *angrily snaps elder wand and throws it off a bridge*

The butchering of Dumbledore in the later movies was by far my biggest irritation with the movies. So much so, that I have a somewhat difficult time watching them. And it's largely for this reason I do hope it's remade better someday.
The movies ruined my opinion about Ron . I was happy with the ending of the book but after watching the movies, I am starting to have second thoughts
Books are always better, & few movies can rarely if ever be as good.

Im pissed about the Quidditch in 3 or lack thereof in the book it had every match and the championship came down to a final match of Gryffindor vs Slytherin where they massively cheated its also the only time in the series that Harry actively wins the Cup since the next time they do it its when hes suspended but its really too bad the original Dumbledore passed away he was perfect for the role the new guy never really fit in

I honestly don't have a problem with the films. I saw the films first with my son and then as he got older we started reading the books together. The books are objectively better than the films but I still like the films. When film comes and I see it only to later read the book I tend to like both. If I've read a book and then a movie is released then I tend to hate the film. That's why I hate the LOTR and The Hobbit films. They ruined my childhood.
Got some news for you I guess. They are going to make a series to lord off the rings about era 1 or 2. The dark lord morgoth is commingto the screen.

This guy pronounces things in interesting ways a lot. He does tons of voice overs for this channel. I'm guessing he doesn't write them all and mispronounces because he's unfamiliar with the content he's speaking about. This is sort of antithetical to the fundamental assumption that UA-cam is largely made up of individuals expressing themselves. This can cause mistrust similar to when singers are caught not writing their own material. Or maybe I'm off track and he read the books first and so has different pronunciations based on how he heard the words in his head when first reading.
