  • Here is a cheap Ebay purchase....a Maxon PM100 on U1 band so I bought it in the hope it would go slightly out of it's design specification onto 70cms amateur radio. These are 25W radios & on 70cms & thus out of it's design, I ended up with 18W. I programmed three simplex channels (SU20 is calling channel on 433.500 & I also put in SU21 433.525 & SU22 433.550), plus our repeater GB3GR. I set CTCSS on channel 1 transmit only, which is required for repeater access.
Receive exded up as 0.4uV for 12dB SINAD. Had the frequencies been in spec of gthe radio, this would have been 0.3uV.
This video was requested by a viewer & is nothing to do with CB radio whatsoever.

Hi Richard, that was the first radio I had when I was first licensed in 2003. It was programmed for GB3NH and GB3XX plus the uhf calling frequency and one other. It was set for 10 watts. Great radio. David M0DUU

I love those old Toshiba laptops. After so many years they are still working great.

Great show thanks for letting us see this, don't know that you could do that with the maxom,I had too back in the day, and I here what you mean about all this power people won't, there's nothing better to get out on 4or 5 watts and when the skip is right the world is your Oyster. But I here what you mean about just getting out in are own country is fine with me.hope you get better soon take care of yourself and hear from you soon Alan from LUTON 💯👍

Interesting insight into that side of the band and the alignment.

I'm all for that Richard. Shame we can't repurpose more electronic stuff 0:03 these days (usually quite servicable but no software updates)!! How wasteful!!
Sorry to hear you are still suffering but a little 'below' you in the dank, chalky plains, we have, what the medical profession have called 'the 100 day cough'! (I am about 30 days in so far ; so I sympathise).
    Hope you recover soon.

I recall you did & I did the same to that one & passed it onto an elderly amateur near Grantham.

I think it's only the third one I've seen on UHF John. The first one didn't like being on 70cms (out of it's band) & VCO lock on transmit only occurred if the set was in a heated room.
