Love the review and looking forward to the vs video. If that’s a helmet with the red light which I’ve also seen on the other video, where did you get it from?
Great review as always, Leo how much you love this board and you enthusiasm. Given the price and I ride a Ducati for speed and power thrills I think the GTR 2 would be enough for me.
I would keep it far away from water at all times. Even if electronics are safer, they aren't invincible, and the bearing and other materials get busted too
Just replace the grip tape and spray the trucks :). I always replace the grip tape on every deck, to help make the board feel more "mine" and it only takes a moment.
@@averageeskatereviewsi told u that like 3 times homie! lol . use the older relay /gtr1 rims and use the 47T hub and pullies. even the hadean is fast as shit with 47T & 7”.. especially that mid range power pull
Great video! I guess the review of the Renegade is next. I'm so excited. The mention of the longer deck on the Renegade was nice to hear. Even though I have already ordered my Renegade, I am still curious if it holds up well at higher speeds. (Should I perhaps order some harder bushings for it, as apparently, you cannot adjust the trucks?) It would be great if you could compare the carbon and bamboo versions a lot. (Is the Renegade something between flexibility and stability, plus more all-terrain/tricks, or is it a compromise between all three and the board suffers in some way?) I'm also really interested in the differences between double kingpin and mountain board trucks, how they feel while carving, and other aspects. I am super grateful for your reviews, you are doing an amazing job.
I was leaning towards the bamboo as I love my bamboo Hadean. After trying both it’s bamboo all the way. Think I got to ride this exact board Chris, the boys at PEV said you’d been testing it out.
Would be cool to see a distance test on the Bambi only. One you riding it all car y and other test just straight without carving to see how big a difference it is.
Need some riding tips best way to carve, but also tight enough to stop speed wobbles at higher speed esp on trigger release. Also how much is to tight on bushings. 14st rider with heavier bushing already.
Hey Average Eskater! Is there any play/wobble in the front AT wheels? I just got the renegade and there is a lot of play in the wheel which doesn't seem right. Its seems the bearings are moving within the hub. Any info helps!
@scharf i got the diablo bamboo that has different trucks, and they work perfect. I must have misread the word renegade at the time, sorry. I think a quick video clip emailed to the evolve support address will get all the answers you need ! Hope it gets resolved
Would still like to know if evolve boards have play in the front wheels whatsoever..anything at all? I’ve sent support emails and some say there is and some say there is zero.. Thanks!
@@scharf my supercarve 2 do not have any malfunction at all, using street wheels. The integrated washers make it so you can't really over tighten the wheel nuts, and the kingpin and bushings are user preference
Again, glad to have you back we missed you not surprising. You love the board as the way you ride what’s Ricky up to? I know you don’t like them can you recommend a good old train hub board as I’m 60 years old and going strong I ride the backfire Ranger three
Other bamboos with more top speed yes but with more power no. There’s no other bamboo board putting out 200 amps. Acceleration wise this is the king in the bamboo category.
You might consider adding tighter bushings and pivot cup, plus larger wheels, if you want added stability at speed (107mm urethane street wheels for example). Also if your bearings have ever got wet or are years lld, they are likely dirty and less smooth than they used to be, which I found can be a big source of wobble above 25 mph
Is this debate about Evolve similar to the chatter about Burton snowboards? I mean the market leader getting stick simply because they are exactly that??
I have a Hadean bamboo and honestly love everything about it; the only way I would pick up a Diablo is if I could sell this one since it makes no sense to have 2 of the same deal.
You mentioned the improved waterproofing in the Carbon video - did you actually verify this by opening up the board? The Hadean Carbons are notorious for the LED strips failing, and there's next to no sealing between the carbon frame and battery case. Really hoping Evolve have improved that with the Diablo, but given the board structure is essentially identical and the changes are in the electronics/trucks, I can't say I'm confident
@@averageeskatereviews That would be great. Evolve's documentary only touched on the improved waterproofing in the Bamboo, which is good but it makes me think they didn't make any changes to the Carbon. Please also take a close look at how well the ESC is protected. Evolve refurbished my Hadean's ESC and gave it a waterproof coating after it played up and corroded due to water. It's been fine since but I'm really hoping for other customers' sakes that is now done at the factory for everyone's Diablos
If you think a bit longer about the fast charger you may understand why Evolve will not sell one. I know you are aware of battery degradation but you do not seem to understand how that would work in terms of warranties even if there are disclaimers. How would you differentiate when people come back with warranty claims where everyone says they have not used the fast charger.
Please mention the faults of the board eariler: 1 Entire board loses its warrenty if there is signs of "water ingress" or corrosion. 2 lack of fast charging. i still do not understand why they would sell a board in the uk where sudden bursts of rain occur when the industry standard is IP55 or IP65. The onsra Black carve 3 pro has a similar price tag same or higher top speed, IP65, fast charging, an incredible controller. The Exway atlas pro has increadibly fast charging (2x faster than onsra 4 faster than evolve) an IP55 rating and has a similar if not better top speed but lacks a high tech controller all at basically the same price. Evolve wins in its features like battery health not performance but the lack of an IP rating is a significant downfall of the company and thats something they haven't impoved since the GTR which was in 2018.
Very good review. I agree totally about the support since I have had several issues with Exway. I think Ricky hating on Evolve gets a bit silly and childish.
On the looks I think prefer the Hadean bamboo for the dark middle grip tape strips and black trucks but I haven’t seen the diablo in person yet. I kind of think the carbon looks better this time. The diablo print on in looks really good
Evolve *IS* Apple - I think everyone agrees with that, and your point. Most people have been saying it, for years. I really liked my Hadean - it was a great board. I enjoyed every ride. But - once you try a suspension board, it's game over. You're not going back. Like you, I said I needed my board to feel like a real skateboard - I even held off on AT for years because of it - but the reality is, I have a board now where I can have half the wheels on the street and the other half on a street curb and *not even notice*. You can ride for 50km and your legs are not dead at all. Your feet don't hurt. And stability? Suspension boards are just so, so stable. Then, when you want to offroad, you just do. So back to the Apple point - I appreciated the way everything with Evolve "just works" out of the box. The app, the remote, the lights, the after sales care, etc. With my current board, which is Propel - out of the box, everything needed serious tweaking. I needed to solder 3rd party electronics to the VESC. Modify amps to the motors. Remove parts that needed a heat gun to get off, etc. It took a lot to get it "right". I think Evolve have this down pat - they make a board that a consumer can just buy and use. As much as I am sticking to my Propel, and I love it, they have atrocious (as in completely missing or just straight up incorrect) documentation, and even with a complete board, you feel like it's a DIY. Sure - I have now made it "my" board, and it's just the way I like it - and I couldn't do that with an Evolve, what I didn't like about Propel and I appreciate about Evolve is I *had* to put all this effort into the Propel. It was like going DIY by stealth, without even realising that's what I was doing, until I had no choice.
Do not buy this board as preorder !!!!! i almost lost my life on the hadean bcs they shipped the first series of boards with a faulty firmware and the board was doing bunch of crazy stuff ...like for example going full throttle by its own. ( took them something like 3 months to fix it). Comparing evolve to Apple OR Ferrari really makes u question the integrity of the person who says this type of non sense...
I rode a carbon deck today which made me realise how much I love bamboo decks. The flex and forgiveness of the deck makes things feel smoother.
i got me self a onsra Velar .. stiff as a brick , i miss my hadean bamboo
If you swap back to the old hubs from the GTRs you can use a 47t with the 6" wheels. Also my preferred setup!
I am doing exactly that. I already for my 6" and the GTR2 hubs with 47t for the Diablo. Has anyone done a speed test yet with this setup.
Great vid just wondering if you’re still gunna test the water proofing on the Diablo
