Wow….I adore these ink swatch videos! You converted me years ago to this system and it is just wonderful. I love it. Thank you and sending positive healing vibes!! Love the gift Lila made you!
I have streamlined swatches for all of my inks, liquid embellishments, embossing folders,my cardstocks, and my markers. All the time and effort is worth it! It's so awesome that I'm able to color coordinate everything I own and expand my resources with contentment as I create lovely cards for the Gospel of Christ. Your videos played a huge part in helping me.
I am finally at the point in my paper crafting journey to set up a better ink color system where I can compare similar colors from different companies side-by-side. Thank you so much for sharing your "smarts" with your stamping sisters and for taking the time to upload the charts you made for the different ink companies.
Thank you for sharing your brilliant organization technique for swatches! ❤️ I'll be using it for creating many swatchbooks with the 3 rings in your video, and I'll be usining them for different books for each of the main art supplies I use when doing traditional art: Watercolor, Gouache, color pencils, watercolor pencils, color inks, Copic markers, acryla inks and a few other media. Your idea for leaving space below the solid swatch sample for adding in a smudged or painted sample is also a wonderful idea which I will use for the watercolor pencils and a couple other materials. I think on the back of some media swatches, since I do mixed media also, I'll pair-up the sample with another coordinating media to showcase how it looks. Like an India ink outline filled-in with a color acryla ink, or a color ink outline filled-in with a wash or solid of watercolor pencil, or a gradation of solid to transparent watercolor over graphite with white color pencil test lines over it. And also: Gouache painting over a watercoler base as well as color pencils over a watercolor base and color pencil sample lines over the swatches of any of the liquid media like watercolor, acryla gouache and watercolor pencils. There are so many ways to make use of this method for showcasing all kinds of art materials and coordinating materials you may want to use alondside them, it's endelss! 😊
I love all your Organization techniques! I just looked you up to get some ideas for my new craft room and because I remembered your craft room from a few years ago! I had no idea I was going to find all these amazing videos! So I've spent most of my day watching your videos and not organizing my craft room :) Thank you!!!
I was told at a craft fair that you had a swatch book made with swatches sized 2" x 3-1/2" and stored in business card page protectors. I was so happy about this idea that when I got home I ordered 2 packs of business card protectors and another 2 packs of the tabbed business card protectors (to separate the colors - all I'll say in my defense is I'm a Virgo). But then I watched your video. Oh, dear. I guess I gotta order coin protectors pages now! I still love the idea. Before, I had the full sized pages printed out and in a soft side binder, but having the organized by companies is difficult because you cannot compare colors. My husband agreed with me that I should have ignored the printed sheets from the individual companies and put the pages together in color groups. I would then be able to see just how close "Hero Arts Blue Water Reactive Ink" is to "Lawn Fawn's Peacock". Thank you, Jennifer. Your ideas for organization are excellent and adding a piece of cardstock to the swatches makes more sense than separating each company!
Just finished setting up my distressed ink sample cards following your direction. What a wonderful experience that went beyond the simple joy of organizing my tools. I received the obvious practice stamping, using the applicator to form smooth transitions from dark to light (well at least I tried), and drawing lines with a brush that never turned out the same as the one before. It surprised me how different the colors were from the printed labels. I guess it shouldn’t have. I loved the small jewels of multiple colors when a simple spritz of water is applied. It was eye opening to see how one apparently solid color could show so many different colors like the browns and golds in Brushed Corduroy and the reds and pinks in Candied Apple. Not to mention the variety of color expressed in the stamped area, the applicator and the water line. Even the lightest saturated colors can be vibrant. There were colors that appealed to me and ones that I couldn’t see ever using and a most of them somewhere in between. I feel challenged now to use them all sooner or later. Thank you again for the wonderful idea.
Jennifer, thanks for all your hard work! I love the current swatch system that you are using now a good fit for myself. Again, thanks for doing all the leg work for us, especially us newbies. You have taught me so much Jennifer!
This new ink swatch book idea is wonderful. I haven't been too thrilled with other options I've seen thus far, but this seems perfect for me. Can't wait to try this and finally get my inks organized. Thanks so much!
Wow I thought I was organized but you blow me away (in a good way of course). Love the book. I just started "inking" and began with the distressed inks so your method for all inks will get me off to a great start as I collect (which I'm sure I'll do). It is so great to have someone like you to follow and learn from. You are a great teacher.
Thank you very much for sharing your organizing tips and techniques on this video. Wow!! My favorite is your new swatch book with the coin holder page protectors. I agree that a binder would just add bulkiness to the swatches. Thanks. Your ideas are always welcome!!!
Thank you for the great video!! I love all of the downloads you created as well.. it’s going to be great to have all my ink swatches in one place... You are a gem... Have a awesome week...
Thank you so much for doing all this work. I need to organize all my inks and such, so this will be my system. You’re my hero for making these printables!!!!
Hi Jennifer! I always enjoy your videos. I think they're some of the best crafty vids on YT. You're so in depth, but you don't talk to your audience like they're children, either. I look forward to new videos in the future!
Ive been trying to find an organized swatch system for my nail polishes and this video came back to mind. This system would be perfect! Thanks Jennifer!
Great ideas!!! I love the newest way you do this, plus doing 3 techniques on one swatch for distress Inks is fantastic. Definitely going to do this. Thank you so very much. Always love your videos. Have a great day!!!
I love the new swatch book idea. I have page protectors for slides that I picked up somewhere. Will get started with those until I can get the coin protector pages, will probably be able to find those easier anyway since people don't really do slides anymore. LOL Thanks Jennifer, you're a genius!! =)
Wow!! Love this idea!!! I have been using the tags on binder rings like the last example you showed and it's getting very bulky and hard to manage now so this idea is soo helpful!! You are a genius and I just love all your videos especially storage ones!!! Thank you sooooo much!!!
Thank you for sharing this with us Jennifer! I like my ink tag system that I copied from you so that I can take the tags directly to my project and see what color works best, but with over 100 ink colors in my collection it is getting bulky. I am definitlry going to use your new swatch system idea as well so that I can quickly see the comparison of colors without having to try to "fan" out my tag swatches. Great idea....thanks so much!
I really admire the way you, organize stuff and all your artistic creations..... I am very very well inspired to start crafting , but in places like india we dont have so many supplies as in abroad...
I don't have enough inks to worry about, but I am getting into the altenew mini cube sets and love the idea of swatching the colors, plus having a layered example!
Thank you so much for this video!! I have been wrecking my brain for weeks trying to find a way to organize my ink swatches this is just genius!! Thanks again, Also can you share pictures of each page of your ink swatch book? I would love to see how each ink compares to each other. my addiction for ink is growing and I'm trying hard to not buy duplicates lol
Miss Jennifer: I appreciate all the ideas for card making and ideas for storage.........Could you please tell me where I can get a Mitzi....I adore the looks and use of this tool.......
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing organizing skills. I have become so much more organized by watching you. I Thank you also for the swatches to print this is going to make it so much easier. I did download the blank swatch and it didn't open like the others? did anyone else have this issue?
I really wanted to do this, but international shipping for the coin "page protectors" were just insane. I´m so happy to find the new Simple Stories 2"x2" page protectors, and just ordered them to do this!
thanks, this is super organized and well thought out! I would love to utilize this idea, but I have nothing to put on the blanks. will be waiting on the compare, I have a handful of inks and since my "have to stamp" addiction has grown I need to get more ink and am too stingy or cheap, whatever, lol just too get all the colors of most of the brands, I plan to only buy the colors I like from the different manufacturers who produce those colors. you are such an enabler :) laura
Thanks for making these color swatches. However, there have been many new inks added since your last update. Is it possible to share a template so that we can add the new inks as they become available? I can't see how to edit your current upload since it's a PDF. I'd like to try some of the Hero Arts inks. Is there a suggestion on which colors to start out with to cover most color needs? I'm clueless and overwhelmed by all the shades of colors! Just looking for a basic set of each color to begin with and then add to it as budget allows.
I have watched a bunch of your videos! I just love how you organize your supplies and such. Thanks so much for sharing this idea. I went to your blog for the free downloadable and OMGosh You have one for Close To My Heart!!!! I downloaded all of them and the word file. What font did you use? I want ALL of my swatches to match .. it's the CDO in me LOL ...
Hi, the font is "century gothic". If you open the Word editable version of her template it shows at the top of the screen in the font box. Her boxes also default to that font; however, you would have to bold if you are going for the look of her pre-made ones. Hope this helps.
Are those coin pages of yours 12" by 12"? They look like regular page protector size. The link for the pages took me to a 12 by 12 protector page, that is why I asked.
How many times do you stamp on each square to get the color you use in your swatch book? For example: one stamp is lighter than say the second and third stamp. Thank you
Hi Jennifer , I have downloaded the sheets for my distress and oxide but I notice there is missing the last 3 distress inks(candied , lucky clover , carved pumpkin and the last set from distress oxide . Will you updating it soon?
I bought the pages for this and will be starting tonight. Do you think typing paper (I just aged myself with that statement) will work? Or stay with white cardstock? Also, do you have a video on washi tape storage? I couldn't find anything when I searched. Thank you for all you do.
I watched this video some time back but never started my system. I have most of the distress ink pads so like the way u demonstrated those swatches but I also have most of the markers too. Do u have those on the same swatch or do u not include those? I mostly use markers to watercolor with when I travel since they take less space in suitcase. Thanks. After I get back from urgent trip, I'm gonna get this project started.
I bought Simon Says dye inks, and My Favorite Things hybrid inks. No matter what I do, I get blotchy images-- even after they've dried. What am I doing wrong??
Keiss - Mine do too. Jennifer's looks so perfect and yet mine are blotchy. I was wondering how many times she stamps to get one swatch done so perfect.
Keiss I would try rubbing an eraser on them or a used Emory board, then conditioning with versamark, sometimes solid images have a hard time grabbing the ink

Annie T You can buy a Misti on Amazon, Simon Says, Hallmark Scrapbooking, Ellen Hutson and probably many other crafting sites.
Amazing! I see some product organization in my future!

Do you use washi tape and how do you store it? I have adopted your system for my stamps and dies and love it .
Do you know if they make those coin sheets for personal sized binders?
Great idea, I am going to try it out.
Thank you this was really helpful since I need so much help getting myself organized
Love this idea!! Thanks!!
Can this swatch technique be used for embossing powder as well?
I have watched a bunch of your videos! I just love how you organize your supplies and such. Thanks so much for sharing this idea. when doing the hero arts ombre ink how are you stamping it?
Hi Jennifer , I have downloaded the sheets for my distress and oxide but I notice there is missing the last 3 distress inks(candied , lucky clover , carved pumpkin and the last set from distress oxide . Will you updating it soon?
Thanks for the different ideas.
How do you store your Copic markers I was told to keep them laying on their side?
Hi. I’m doing my swatch’s and they’re not in the Lawn fawn section. Cornflour, Butter bar, Tide pool, orange soda,Field greens, Ultra Pink please help
Super cool❣️
I bought the pages for this and will be starting tonight. Do you think typing paper (I just aged myself with that statement) will work? Or stay with white cardstock?
Also, do you have a video on washi tape storage? I couldn't find anything when I searched. Thank you for all you do.
i don't have much washi.
i would use cardstock - inks act differently on different cardstocks
what is the difference between all of the inks?
I watched this video some time back but never started my system. I have most of the distress ink pads so like the way u demonstrated those swatches but I also have most of the markers too. +Pat Cyzauskas i have them on the same swatched but different book.
Are you using this same system today? Just wondering if you have come up with anything new?🙂
great organization techniques. thank you. Susan
You mentioned second generation a few times what is that. Thank you and I love your tuts
What is the pen your dipping in the water
+Matti Harbour It's a water brush. You can find them online or in most craft stores.
This is a kind of random comment, but do use pencils (e.g. colored/watercolor pencils) and could you do a video on how to organize them? 😊
I bought Simon Says dye inks, and My Favorite Things hybrid inks. No matter what I do, I get blotchy images-- even after they've dried. What am I doing wrong??
