I had a 99 k1500 5.7 vortec and I cut the cats out and ran 2.5” all the way to 45 dumps over the axle with 4” tips sounded so good and the clap was deep, not high pitched.
I like louder exhaust like Larry’s or like a straight pipe but this sounds alright! I loved the vid though! Glad you finally made one, one vid you outta cut the cats off and run a pipe to the back
Quick tip, you can buy exhaust pipe from the parts store and you would have a better chance of getting it to come out the side. Not a channel plug but check out my most recent exhaust video on my channel, what you were trying to do is exactly what I did on my Ford.
I thought you were gonna put the whole muffler on .that would have been more interesting than a tip...try some carven r mufflers with some fat tips out the back

My dad had a suburban that had a rod knocking and the oil was silver, but we still put another like 8-9k miles on it 😂

Run 3 inch all the way back to some 4 inch tips 45 degree out the back. Looks and sounds good

These trucks sound the best with no cats, if you put a muffler on it with no cats it'll still clap and will have a really deep tone to it

I used flex pipe on my old 98 Chevy... I ran one on each side of the box. It sounded to good ...
What exactly are you running for suspension on the OBS? Just curious it perfect
A flex pipe straight all the way back dumped at the hitch would be nasty

What temp does your coolant sit at !?!? Mine fluctuates from 165-210 and it’s annoying the shit out of me. Heat works excellent & doesn’t over heat
My 98 runs at 160 with the 5.7, Check your thermostat maybe.
Most obs chevys 190 -210 ish my 98 silverado has a 205 degree thermostat you can go with a 180 degree thermostat but oem is 205
