There’s something truly magical about winter camping near water in the mountains. Hidden spots like this are such treasures, and spending a night there must have been an incredible experience. I always make sure to bring my microphones on trips like these to capture the beautiful sounds of nature-the gentle flow of water, the rustle of snow, and the stillness of the mountains create an atmosphere worth preserving.
Holidays, I've missed your video adventures. This one is Amazing, Stunning!! So beautiful of mountains, night starry skies, awesome campsite. On to the next adventure!! Thanks so much!!
Hi Gregor! Thank you so much for sharing your winter adventures! It is so beautiful there in winter. I'm hoping to return to Scotland early next March for some hiking and wild camping. I really do feel that Scotland is my spiritual home! If I may...a little trick I learned from a friend is to carry two heavy duty bin liners..the black ones and use them to keep your boots dry whilst crossing small rivers and streams. Put your booted foot in and wrap it round your leg then use an elastic band or two to hold it in place. Looks ridiculous but works a treat and weighs almost nothing. Dry feet in winter is a must for me! 🥶🥶Your images of the night sky were utterly stunning! Thank you! 🙂 Really looking forward to your next adventure 😎🥶🤩
Brilliant adventure, this..we too prefer winter camping and hiking.. although Michigan does not compare at all to Scotland.. Ach.. those mountains and lochs.. and those icy rivers 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶 We were a bit concerned for you with frostbite as those temps were quite cold.. we wondered how you avoid it.. as your feet were totally immersed in that icy water.. twice!!🥶🥶 Also we feel bad you had no warm supper.. at least you had hot tea.. which we adore.. 😊 One advantage of spring hiking is the presence .. at least here.. of wild mint and wild berries.. all are grand in tea..💜💙😊 You are indeed courageous and strong to face those cold temps.. and we so appreciate going along on your amazing adventures.. your knowledge of Scotland is vast.. we are leaning more from you than any book or other video we have read or watched.. So glad we are to have found your channel.. your views are spectacular taking our breath away.. And your disposition.. attitude .. and conversation are always bright, cheerful.. and sunny.. even if the weather is not! Thank you ever so much for allowing us to accompany you on these adventures of a lifetime 💜💙🤗 William and Jen

As I watched that....river crossing.....plastic bags came to mind. And yes, someone else already said. I thought it was my idea 😅. These trips are what makes us mountain lovers smile huh! Lovely film again....👍
amazing video mate. I did Beinn a’Chreachain and Beinn Achaladair in September and that lochan is definitely a highlight of that walk along with the views from Beinn Achaladair. I said I’d go back and camp at that lochan, one for the future along with a Beinn Mhanach summit camp I think, thanks for sharing
Hi Gregor. Wow mate, what a camp spot, absolutely stunning. You’re certainly good at digging out these stunning places. Great star shots too. All the best mate, Dave 😀🥾⛰🏕️🏴🏴
Stunning location with those cliffs on one side & that vast view over the rim of the corrie on the other. And those stars, makes you feel so small when you can see stuff like that. Great video mate.
Amazing views! And the stills of the night sky with no light pollution were truly breathtaking!! Love your channel, Ive always wanted to travel to Scotland. Hopefully soon. 😃
Wow, wow, wow. What a great overnight camp spot by that gorgeous wee lochan. The stars were just incredible. Perfect no light pollution. Well done you, for capturing them so beautifully. Was it just on your mobile phone? I agree with you that winter is the best and most beautiful season in Scotland. You concern me that you don’t take enough warm food with you on the cold camp hikes. It is vital your body keeps warm & in order to do that you need warm food as well as fluids. Please take care of yourself Gregor. Try packing a couple of bin bags for the river crossings. May not look attractive but it will help your feet stay drier. 😊
Yeh all the shots were on an iPhone 15. Don’t worry about my food situation, I eat plenty and make sure I eat healthily throughout the week so I can eat some rubbish whilst hiking😂😂
The lonely places are so powerful. Was that the ambient sound @8:43? Sounds primeval and beautiful. Beware though, lest there be mountain trolls about.
Another wonderful video, the shots you choose and your film making skills are second to none, along with your sunny companionship. Thanks as always Gregor, have a great Christmas.
Hi Gregor 😁 we (my husband and i) really love watching youre adventures in the Wee Big Country, camping in winter looks chilly baltic but midgie free 😂 youre photos of the milky way and all the stars were really amazing, have watched so many of youre videos and enjoyed them all,you do such a good job😁
Amazing video. Might be worth investing in a hot food flask for when you’re out and it’s so cold. We use one from a company called SHO and it’s brilliant. Just remember to pre heat it and fill it up fully!
Amazing amazing amazing The background is superb. I don’t know what else I can say, words fail me. You’ve wetted my my thirst for the highlands. Which I hopefully will be doing next year. Thanks for bringing me on your latest adventure Gregor. See you in the o👌👍🥶😁🥶 peace
Yo, Gregor, awesome to be with you again! I sometimes read the comments (51 at this time) before I watch your video, to make sure I pick up all the viewpoints. Now that we've completed the hike, I can confirm that your concerned fans are enchanted by the videography but are NOT happy about the way you walk through freezing streams again and again; also your poor nutrition makes us nervous! Listen to the people! 🙂
You need to remember this is one night out of seven. I eat healthily throughout the week to allow for a night off when I’m hiking. In regards to the river, sometimes you need to cross rivers😂😂 I appreciate the concern though and thank you for commenting 👍
omg, your poor feet! i winced a bit when you crossed the first time, but the second time, when it had frozen over!! oof!! you are a trooper for these videos you bring us.
re Crossing rivers take off boots remover socks put boots back on to bare feet wade across take boots off drain and put socks back on and then put boots back on. Better still a pair of neoprene over shoes or old trainers to change into to cross rivers. Still cold but feet will warm up quicker if socks are dry. ATB great video BTW
Well at least ya gas worked ok this time to heat the billy up Spectacular scenery in this one Gregor, very pretty place. I'd like to see the contrast in summer, the lochan looks good to swim in? Those shots of the stars were amazing, sorta makes ya wonder how we can be the only living beings with all them stars (suns) out there
Nice video mate the views from that loch was cracking. Were your feet not freezing after walking through the river with your boots on it wouldnt have been me i would have just took ma boots off 😅
One of the disadvantages of modern life surely is light-pollution, as it used to be possible to see night skies like that three fields away from the edge of town (well, maybe not like the views from your tent, but you did see a lot more than you can now!) I assume your boots are 100% waterproof? Only, even if I did survive that water temperature, the chances of me being able to walk in wet boots straight afterwards would not be great, I can assure you - you are cetainly a braver man than I...!
Wow! A very cool hike at the beginning of winter! 5:21The fairytale forest and fast river are wonderful! How comfortable are you walking with wet feet in the cold? How did you dry your boots? A tent on the lake shore in a stunningly beautiful place! The starry sky is incredible! 🏕️ 🌌
Interesting that the lochan was frozen , and in the morning the ice had melted. Great starscapes!🎆. Getting your feet & shoes so wet 🤔 ... there must be a better method. Just saying coz I care.
That was an outstanding job. How do you cope with the wet feet after crossing a river? How can the shoes dry in that cold? I couldn’t. The day after I’d have fiver like at 40degrees 😂😂😂
Get this soaking feet at minus temps sorted out.. and nay hot food.. Your making my sh myself with worry.. But looked fantastic.. BE SAFE.. BROWNIE* 🏴
