Awesome Video! You know your stuff! Thank you for very insightful details about the clamshell hood and how the absence of the frunk is a result of the stacked front power unit leading to more legroom in the cabin, most people will only see this as a disadvantage. The Nissan Arya also features this packaging.
Thanks for the comment! I won't bash the competition too much.... But dollar for dollar, this trounces the Nissan 😬. Especially at a public DC fast charger 😊
Interesting what you said about the bigger frunk... Do you need to buy the accessory from Europe or Korea or do you buy the whole Car from there and have it imported? I'm in the US
I haven't done so myself, as I own an AWD ioniq 6. But if you get the rwd ioniq 5 (or 6 for that matter) in the USA or Canada, you could then potentially order a frunk from Europe or Korea and drop it into your US spec vehicle. It's been done by others.
Enjoy your videos. I pickup my Ultimate Ioniq 5 on Tuesday 10th September. When they were had to get I got Kona ev which is also an excellent electric vehicle. This video will greatly help me setup the Ioniq 5. BTW what dealership do you work for.
Great review! JMy wife just got our Ioniq 5 Prefered Long Range a few days ago and was wandering if it safe to set up a child car set on the ""not removable" head rest on the bask seat? I have been driving a 2023 I6 for a year now and love it. Please continue to issue those great informative video!
@@edsgarage001 One more question...we are planning to get some winter tires/rims and was wandering if the 2024 version would accept 18"rims...or would this affect the break pads clearance? Thx again!
Yes indeed! I took my ioniq 6 on a road trip through Canada and the USA, check it out here: ua-cam.com/play/PL4XXJo8qlur97dSCWt0Y7PYR_JI90_xJB.html&si=3Ov5ZlooUAUlGBch
I read that charge scheduling is available on most ev chargers and can also be set by the ioniq 5 itself. Is setting the charging/scheduling better using the charger or the resident ev software?
Great review. Thank you. One thing that would have helped would have been to slow down. I had to repeat stuff because you talk quicker than I can hear.
I have a 30A and 250V already installed in my garage. Is this compatible to level 2 charging for the I5? Does the hardware that comes with the car usable for level 2 charging or do I have to buy something else? Lastly, is it hard to park in tight quarters (front/back) with I5 given that you need to step on accelerator to move once stopped?
Yep that'll do nicely for a level 2 charger. I'd suggest a 16amp or 24amp. But yes, you'll need to buy that. They're pretty easy to park but also, the car will creep forward when you're off the brake unless you're in one pedal driving mode.

Not having a rear wiper AND dropping the DRVM, which acted as a partial compensation, on the Canadian version was one of the dumbest ideas ever. The only thing dumber is I signed the sales agreement before realizing it didn't have something that is an essential feature on a hatchback for driving in this country. Plus this car is higher level badge than the KONA and the 2024 KONA got the new CCnC standard and this car didn't. Bizarre.
The Kona has just been fully redesigned, as has the sonata and Santa Fe, which is why they're the only three models with the new ccnc system. As for the rear window, once you're used to it, it's no big deal. Adding a ceramic coat helps a lot though.
@@edsgarage001 I doubt it would have been that hard to add the new screen and rear windshield wiper to the 2024 Ioniq5. It didn't require a complete redesign. It is just the usual planned obsolescence. What is worse is the car cost more money with obsolete technology in it. Oh well, it's my bad, but that is the intent of manufacturers: to always make one regret that they didn't just keep waiting until the next year and the year after that and the..... 😆
It itself is not magnetic however you can stick magnets to it. It's basically metal covered with a cloth, so that you can hang things on there with magnets

If the top strap is pulled extremely tight over top of the headrest, it won't move.

The one in the vehicle works quite well. However I guess it would depend on your charging station. Summer more cumbersome than others

Charging station
How much does it depreciate when a buyer drives it off the lot?
Depends on your location...
Here, not much as the ioniq 5 is still pretty hot in this market

You mentioned I5 can handle 100% charging by default without degradation. Conventional wisdom says 80%. Can you elaborate please?
Not "without degradation" but with so little, it's a non issue. Plus, if you REALLY wanna preserve it, 90% is plenty good too
