There's something about an alien warlord just crawling into somebody else's bed and saying "It's scary upstairs!" that makes me freak the fuck out laughing every time I see it.
You believe they weren't just acting? That was almost as fake as the bit in one of the Jackass movies, where they supposedly released a gorilla into Bam's parents' hotel room.
I had the glorious privilege of being eaten and consumed whole at a GWAR show in Seattle 7 years ago. When I was shit out I ended up backstage to a great party. I recommend it !

If you really step back and look and what GWAR for what they are and what they have accomplished you can not deny the creative geniuses that they are collectively. Like them or if they aren't for you musically or theatrically is irrelevant. They have been kicking ass and just killing it for 30+'years. They make all their own costumes, props, and music. They write the scripts that is the story of the CD and then bring it to life on stage. And looking past all the madness visually and live, which I love, they are all killer fucken musicians. I mean come on what other band do you know with that resume. And then take in to consideration within a 3 year span they lost not just Cory Smoot (RIP Flatus) but also the only constant since the band started Dave Brockie. (RIP Oderus). I for one thought when he died that GWAR was over and done with. But they came back with original Beefcake the Mighty as the new vocalist. And also opened up the GWAR Bar. So say what you will but the Slavepit is fucken bad ass. And GWAR is collectively pure genius. One more time: Excellent Musicians, Excellent artists and also great at marketing their brand. What else can I say. I love this band and just pursued another one of their Tiki Glasses. Just need 1 more and I'm set.
I love pointing out that they are really just the most insane art experiment to ever come out of Virginia. I have gotten people to admit to their talent even when they absolutely hate their music itself. Basically for reasons stated by the op that I need not repeat. addendum: I have two things I legitimately call relics. One is a hockey stick signed by the Hartford Whalers circa 1986. The other is a shirt signed by Oderus, Sleazy & Slymenstra. Both might be things a bunch of other people have (given the time period and the number of signatures, that hockey stick might be more unique than I think it is), but neither can ever be created again.
Most people don't know this, but some bands actually wanted their music to be approved by Beavis and Butt head, Nirvana was one of them. Another fact: They and I LOVE GWAR!

I remember seeing a clip of someone from GWAR being interviewed at like an MTV Awards show or something and the girl interview was walking backwards holding the microphone and GWAR was walking towards her. He tripped and fell, bellowing out in surprise and possibly fear, but stayed in character. I’ve been looking for that clip for years as it’s quite possibly the funniest thing ever

I saw them about 15yrs ago at the House Of Blues Orlando, and Brockie gets one of his enormous feet stuck in a stair riser next to the drums. While the bands roaring away, disemboweling the Pope, I hear in a very low tone "Tony, Tony, Tony", and one of the small guys goes over and unhooks brokie's huge rubber feet from the stairs. They were (are) one hell of a live act, great musicians too. The kids had a blast, they were soaked from head to toe in so many colors, they were all brown.
I saw them at the Starland Ballroom in NJ back in like 2013 and the slaves missed their cue to bring out some air hoses to hook up to the big slime guns they use to spray the crowd down. Brockie was waving his arms around and yelling, trying to get their attention. Nobody really noticed it but it was really funny. Hearing him yell "Hey assholes!" was hilarious.

Covered in blood at 3am, trying to get a room in Cleveland with a Hail SataN T-shirt on is quite a task. Especially when you tell them that it's G.W Bush's blood.
