I love how every so often they almost break character and then snap back and go “my childhood ... IN SPACE”
"My space childhood." 😂😂😂😂
I read this at the exact moment he said my childhood in space
There were so many little instances in this vidi. F'ing loved it.
What character?
Damn right in space. Because that’s where they’re from. Space!
"Its like if the Ramones were dumb... er"
That honestly cracked me up.
I really thought I'd missed something until the "...er"
SPITS!!!!
TheSlayFer Ch. T.
that WAS funny as hell brother!
Its true too. First time I saw them this other guy we were with said "These guys are like the Ramones but they grew up in a sewer."
5:10 - I hate CGI gore!
Thanks, Amoeba!
Great label. I bought many Metal Blade albums in the 80s/90s. I just hate the new pirate logo tho. The bleeding razor blade or the bleeding axe from back in the day was way better. Just sayin.
:)
I love that they actually have stuff you'd expect GWAR to listen to. Most of these have metal musicians busting out rare jazz or really avant garde stuff. Not GWAR. They got Mentors, Zeke, Ghoul, and Killing Joke.
And Toy Dolls, Olga's a total riff-meister.
And don't forget they got "Dicks" too
I love how there's just random people shopping like they don't notice Gwar is right next to them.
Just a normal day in California
Ya pretty normal
I'm sure they are not random people shopping they most likely are staff or involved in the what's in my bag episode people are so naive lol
@@nmac3718 yeah I'm sure those 2 soccer moms in beginning work there. Smh
Its SF. people who aren't in GWAR go around like that
R.I.P. Dave Brockie!
No Gwar video dare go without a mention of the Brock man. Good job on keeping up tradition.
TouchingPeople OnTheTrain I see you got that pfp from electronic gems ?
He would've had a blast as Oderus on this show!!!
@@TranzparentMethods Have you seen the Gwar, Nardwuar interview? It's literally one of the best interviews ever.
Too funny - “Man...everything is better with Motörhead’s live album....just chop up a couple lines of speed / turn on some Motörhead and take apart an engine block!”
on it buddy right now ... blop blop
Thats it in a nutshell
So true!
It's like you described a Micheal Bay movie.
Mans used to be a mechanic... in space
Many forget Gwar, at its heart, is a punk band.
Both metal and punk
"Last couple of speed balls I did with oderus he was listening to the shit out of killing joke" "damn right he was" is the best part of the video
Just when I feel like I’ve lost all faith in humanity…I come across a video of Gwar shopping at Amoeba and sharing with the public their selections. All my faith is restored, folks! It’s a beautiful day! 😆
I almost didn't even watch this and it turned out to be the best "Whats in My Bag" episode EVER! GWAR ROCKS!
Hey I'm going to like this to be number 8. Because i agree
6:53
Beefcake: This is THE Halloween sound effect album from my childhood.
Me: Keep it kayfabe, brother.
Beefcake: In space. My SPACE childhood.
Me: That's the stuff.
Kayfabe? What's that mean?

"The space highschool I went to.....in space".
Sepultura is always a top tier section, especially the thrash albums
I was like 14 when i came across Chaos AD, while browsing through a music shop back around 1994. Read something about them in a magazine, decided to check it out. I was the first one, out of everyone that i knew, listening to them. Few years later and *everyone* was listening to them. There was a lot of things i was into before it was "cool". But it didn't matter 'cause no listens to me anyway. Which it turns out, is good, because once things become too well known or popular. People have a way of ruining it.
The Spits are the shit, glad more people will know of them thanks to Gwar and you guys
I'm honestly surprised there's more than aliens' body parts inside their bags.
They were at the LA location. The Bay Area one has a nice selection of alien body parts.
Ya I hope they. Have space DVD players and space discmans..🙂
“Chop up a couple lines of speed, put this on, and (ya know) take apart an engine block or something”
*use as future reference to describe Motörhead*
Hilarious but also touchingly sincere about music. Love it.
i really wanted them to pull out some bon iver or something lol
Hey, you and me both. Simon and Garfunkel, Foster and Allen, Will Smith's entire music back catalogue (which they're buying for the second time because the CDs have degraded from such heavy usage), Sister Rosetta Tharp, Tinariwen, a boxset of recordings of Tibetan mouth music, Rizzle Kicks (who they're friends with), a mint condition original vinyl pressing of Pelican West by Haircut 100, Dust At Cubist Castle by the Olivia Tremor Control, both of Big Flame's LPs on vinyl because Gwar are so down with that whole '80s Post-Punk thing, Ghost Poet, because these guys have taste, Stockhausen, a cpl of Kylie CDs, and a Barbara Streisand CD just to take the piss.
. . . But no, the reality just turns out to be - apart from The Cure and Killing Joke, whose status is beyond dispute - just a load of crappy metal albums. Guys, I salute you on your Icons of Stereotype status.

The best description of Killing Joke Ive ever heard.
One of the better WIMB episodes I've seen in awhile.
I totally agree bad ass fun this one and the mentors fing awsom
They amazed me with the awesomeness they pulled out there bags. Bands that are extremely underrated.
"Killing joke is what Ministry wishes it could be "
Says the guy with a Ministry tattoo on his arm. Haha.
And has played on Ministry recordings.
They are all friends. Al produced Horror of Yig.
I bet Al would probably agree with him! Killing Joke are a criminally underrated band that inspired godflesh, ministry and even nine inch nails
Two different ballparks and always has been....
I am the virus!
Gotta love The Cure and Killing Joke appreciation
I don't know a single metalhead who doesn't also like The Cure. They are timeless
Even though I couldn't name a single song by GWAR to save my life, this is, without a doubt, the best installment of What's In My Bag? ever! Like lots of metal heads, these guys are proof that you can't judge a book by its cover. Behind the outrageous clothing, makeup and other antics, this vid ends up being just about a couple of ordinary, funny, articulate guys (esp. the dude on the right) paying homage to their own musical heroes.
We are GWAR
And we'll go far
We got gutairs

@@fugyamofug Ha ha ha. Thanks for. Always good to hear metal heads with a sense of humor.
@Game Gallows Nothing to rectify, nor to reconcile. I like these guys just as they were: right here.
They're not metal though.
"It's poorly made, like the Mentors" hahaha Gotta love it!!
great way to end the day. hail oderus.
yes thank you amoeba I didnt know i wanted this, but you did
The Toy Dolls 🤘🏻 Olga is the man!
Thank you GWAR for introducing me to awesome punk rock music
Finally someone with The Toy Dolls in their bag. The Toy Dolls are the best punk rock power pop band most people have never heard. Olga is an incredible guitar player, song writer & vocalist, GWAR's got great taste.
Yeah!
В России любят Toy Dolls.
Huge inspiration for the Vandals. Big fan!
Hell yes, Gwar. Road Behind is still one of the greatest tunes ever
Sammy is better.
Gotta love wharghoul
Fuck yeah. Violence Has Arrived is my favorite album. Well, next to America Must Be Destroyed. I recently stumbled apon another Dave Brockie band too, called Death Piggy. It's different but good.
Kelly Bills sweet, Oderous lives on in Valhalla! Fucking legendary! an underrated metal legend!
@@baldrickthedungspreader3107 Come Forth Oberammergau!
Love these guys :)
Killing Joke, The Cure, Toy Dolls, Ghoul, Hellboy, The Dead Don't Die, Sepultura, Zeke, Amon Amarth... HELL YEAH!!!
GWAARRR!!!
Golden shower'....(mentors)
The cure are apolitical
that bit on the guitar sound from zeke and the whole JCM800 fiasco cracked me up...GREAT WIMB?
This is my favorite WIMG so far...The greatness they had pulled out of there bags from the very start had me amazed! Showed love to some very great underrated bands. But real recognize real.
Now, this what I call a good episode
Gwar has been my fav band since I was about 12 or 13 years old....that's stayed true to this day.
I miss oderus, but I love how the other band members personalities are up front now.
Something about Gwar, they always make me smile.
Great! Love GWAR! Keep doing what you love boys. RIP Oderus
I would never had expected anyone from Gwar being a fan of The Cure, that's why I love these videos
It's rare I find new music I like at my age. Usually some dink at work says " you like punk/metal? Check this out" and it's some crap that sounds like everything else but called something different. So I'll go with advice from a band I've been listening to for 30 years and see what happens. 3/4 of the bands they brought up I've never heard of. Should be fun. Also if you've never heard of nekrogoblikon, check em out!
ok boomer
Every band they've mentioned is worth checking out...Right from the start i was amazed at the awesome bands they pulled out. The Dicks and The Spits are literally 2 of my favorites!
You might like Evil Scarecrow too, they have a similar vibe to Nekrogoblikon
@@liamoconnor7423 .tanks I'll check em out.
@@arbaliciousmusic . All right ya got me.
"If you love Gwar you'll *like* Ghoul."
😂😂😂
haha, now onto something good ...
The best part of the whole video
“What’s Gwar’s is ours.” 😂😂😂
From space...my space childhood...LMAO! I love these guys!
GWAR rocks!
Gwar and Zeke two of my favourite bands
One thing I will say is Everytime I've met or seen them interviewed, they are always friendly
I love the fact that Beefcake likes Amon Amarth. Also I wish Oderus was still around.
Dude this was such a good video. I love this side of these dudes, I wanna see more videos of them talking about music they like
Pustulus pulling out those 2 Zeke records got me stoked as hell. Zeke is the shit, it's good to see them get spotlighted.
I’m so stupid that I enjoyed that so much that I’m going to watch it again.
This was awesome. My favorite type of episodes are ones like this
GWAR!
Good to hear about older influential bands from these legends
Toy dolls are the best live band in the world seeing them in London with angelic Upstarts supporting
Man, you guys are fucking ON IT. it makes my day that we seem to have the exact same taste in entertainment. Thank you so much for your art. I couldn't be more grateful.
Love the toy dolls xD
Saw them live in Quebec, Canada a few years back and they looked the same as when my dad listened to them in the 80s!
Opening track is War on Gwar from the blood of gods album.
Thanks.
loved the emphasis on how great the cure is
I'm not a fan of their music but I love to listen to their interviews. They're so humble and amusing. Also I love the fact that they went from one extreme to the other with the music; one of them bought an album by The cure and the other Motorhead album
This is the best 'What's In My Bag' like ever..btw
Wow! I’ve been a gear fan since they started, still have their first release with the metallic red logo. Great to see them today loving the bands I love.
Zeke is truly a great great punk band for sure!
OK. I never listened to GWAR and wrote them off as being a gimmick, but based on these choices alone I might have to give them a chance now. There are some really cool picks here.
Awesome, gwar for Life
Wow this episode was better than I expected. Im digging these bands theyre recommending
Everyone should like The Cure. On that note... what's in my bag w/ Robert Smith?
Yess I would love to see that!!!
@YourFace I'm 22 lmao
I like (read: love) The Cure
Casey Orr likes The Cure
You like The Cure
That is good enough for me.
I used to have that sound effects lp when I was a kid! I loved it!
This video is amazing. Nuff said.
These guys seem like such sweethearts. Love 'em.
The best "what's in my bag" I've seen so far. GWAR will live in infamy!!!
this concept kicks fucking ass , i've seen about a dozen of these , never disappoint , always at least something interesting in everyone's bag , well done
Great selections!
I was waiting for this one ❤️
OMG, this was by far the best one of these I have seen. Seen a lot of them, they all pale. It played out exactly how I thought it might. " You dont like the cure, Ill fight you!" Just so one the nose, absolutely brilliant.
Wow ive never listened to Gwar and this music recommendation put them on the top. Really awesome interview made me laugh hard.
If it’s good enough for GWAR it’s good enough for everyone!!!
Love how casual some of the people shopping are, just another day at amoeba
"chop up a couple lines of speed and take apart a engine block or something"
exactly
best episode yet.
wanted to say something metal as ffff ..but dang it I ffffn love u guys! R.I.P. D.B.
The Spits, The Toy Dolls and Killing Joke? Great stuff!
Damn that was funny! all the stories were great but the guitar sound one and reaction was definitely my favorite. I'll have to check out some GWAR now.
GWAR!!!!
R.I.P. ODERUS
Chilling thrilling... love that album
Yes please and thank you
Best episode ever
Been waiting for THIS
Yeah, this one ruled! RIP DB \m/
The Cure & Killing Joke , enough said
love you guys
Saw the Mentors live! Oh, and Gwar several times too! 😊
I really like those guys. They have amazing taste
always wanted a space bookbag
much respect to older dudes who listen to the newer stuff. don't always see or hear that, especially at my age.
I HAD THAT HALLOWEEN RECORD!!!!!!! Back in the early 80s..it has truly frightening sounds and u played the one we always put on the tree limb, lol.i forgot alllllll about that.ty!!
This was great!!
What i would not give to walk into a record store and see gwar buying records ....love it
How bad would you geek out?
sepultura is portuguese for sepulchre, which is a sick name. the cavallera's are dope. max is a beast on the mic.
Awesome picks! Thank you guys ;-D
Well they got what you think they would get ! I ❤ Killing Joke ! They have had songs covered by Mettalica & Foo Fighters . Geordie 🎸 !
Chilling Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House! Totalllly grew up with that! Nice!
You grew up in space too?
Me too
Phish
The fun factor is even higher than the excellence of the picks!
This is great !!!
