Thanks for the update! Thank you so much for your hard work, as hobbyist this is the best add on that I have purchased! maybe next time if i get job relate to character design i will donate to you more often
Thanks. If you join Htool discord channel - there was one person looking for someone to create hair, maybe offer is still availible. Instead of donating, It would be best if u just get another my plugin ; )
Wow! Amazing Bartosz! thanks for the update I can wait to test the editing on the UVS on the fly, that is handy. I was using filters and new hairsystems to use specific different UVs on certains areas.
I really like this hair tool, thank you for creating it, but please, I really need to know how I can create long hair past the shoulders to a more tailored design like you show in the video using the newer systems. I've spent maybe 30 hours trying to figure it out, but with a tool as powerful as this, it's like a brick wall that I'm chipping away at and banging my head against. Thanks again
Hey man! Thanks for the tool. I have some concerns regarding the updates. Any chance we see the curves editing back when working with the Curves From Grid systems? I can not figure out on how to work with proper long hairstyles at the moment. Automatic placement is often unpredictable and leads to some unpleasant overlapings/crosses. These overlapings are well seen in every provided long hair preset. But there's no way to tweak the specific curve or add a new one if necessary. As I understand now we only can use the Draw hair tool if we want to have full control of the strands placement?
Hi, you can manually edit curves- but first bake curve them to 'real' geometry - see note in - joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/main_workflows/hair_from_surface/. I also re-implemented bunch of 'old' curve modeling tools into new hair curves- joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_modeling/#edit-mode, so this way u should be able to work on new curves - in same way as on old ones. Sorry for late reply - somehow YT stopped sending me email notifications .
Ty I recently updated the hair tools, however I notice something weird happening now, I'm not sure if it is a bug. When I apply mesh profile - use collection, the hair no longer mirrors appropriately it just copies direction left to left and offsets the intended mirror. EDIT, eh NVM Apply Rotation and scale
Thank you very much, excellent tool, but could you guide me how to access the new main hair shader props, since I updated the tool and the previous menu continues to appear. Thank you again.
Hair Material is assigned in profile section - joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_profiles/ . So you will have to see what material is used in there. And then edit it in blender material editor docs.blender.org/manual/en/2.80/editors/shader_editor/index.html
Is there a way to make hair that looks anime/cartoon like with this tool? Seems really handy but I don't do any realism. Also just out of curiosity, why no blendermarket page?
hi, about cartoon hair - you can use : curve profile or mesh profile to get any mesh instanced on curves. I imagine this would allow you to make carton hair - see docs section: joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/hair_profiles/#mesh-profile
Yes, however if you use 'curves from grid' - hair roots will be already placed on border / sharp edge. Thus mask effect will be 0 ( since distance to border will be zero)
Maybe a silly question, but I still cant figure it out propperly in the tool... When you are adding curves / guides in sculpt mode, is there a way to choose a UV region and keep adding strands for that region? For example lets say that Im adding strands for the main blockout using regions 2 and 1 and then I want to add flyaways, (reg 4) , Is ther a way to chose region 4 and for the next time I use Add tool in sculpt mode just add curves mapped with that region (4) without adding a generator filter or creating a new subsystem? I noticed that by default It keeps just using the UV Region 0 every time I add a new curve, Is that a bug or the normal behaviour? Hope I explained myself, otherwise do you got a Discord for the addon that maybe I can join and message you? Many many thanks
The blender build in add curve, does not support box_id attribute that would fix it. I would have to recreate the 'add strand' brush functionality myself. The joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/main_workflows/hair_drawing/ has functionality u are looking for though (but It is messed up from what I can see :( - will fix in few mins). Anyway if you disable 'Auto UV' in hair drawing - u will be able to select UV_Regions that u want to use, when adding new strands (u can select multiple ones - and addon will randomly pick from it). I will let u know when I fix it
@@bartoszstyperek6306 thank you very much you are a master !! If I can have that functionality of choosing wich UV region use on the fly to continue adding strands from so on in Sculpt mode when brushing curves would be amazing ! Btw I would like to know better how to use the attributes (mainly the actual ones like box id) is there further examples aside of the documentation? Many thanks
@@gabocavallaro Ok, actually settings uvs in hair drawing seems to work ok, not sure why it did not work for me at first time :/... About attribute -it is just number assigned to strand - it tells it which UV box to use. You can assign UV regions manually using joseconseco.github.io/HairTool_3_Documentation/uv_material/#set-uv-region . The remake of blender add strands brush will have to wait, since I have other addons to work on. I know u wanted to avoid creation of other subsystem for flyaways, but it seems like the easiest way to go for now.
ALright thank you very much!@@bartoszstyperek6306 pls keep that future feature on the list, would be amazing! Great fan of your work here^^ Wish you a great 2024!
Dear@@bartoszstyperek6306 I discovered a bug that hopefully it can be quick to fix for you, I noticed that when I switch from either Sculpt mode or Object mode to Edit mode and I try to move curves (with the gizmo or G) they break and if I insist Blender crashes and suddenly closes. Having that fixed would be amazing cos sometimes is more quick to just select curves and duplicate them and move them all together with G in Edit mode. Let me know if you can replicate the error, otherwise I can send you screenshots and the log file. Also breaks sometimes in Objectmode
All you have to do is : press 'Define UV' in uv edtior - and draw some boxes. These boxes will be assigned automatically to procedural hair (each box randomly will be assigned to strand). If u need help - jump to HTool discord: discord.gg/cxZDbqH
@@bartoszstyperek6306 But if i want to use my own hair cards with custom UVs? I select mesh profile with UVs and select the opbject or collection and i define the Uvs and it dont work...
yes, the HT goot bit bloated over the time... But if u do not want to use all the stufff - then u can manually edit hair with blender curve scupt tools + then just add HTool profile on top of it. It will work with blender build-in hair nodes too.
You have to enable hair drawing, then hold D - and draw with left mouse. You can check in HTool addon preferences > hotkeys > if D keys is mapped correctly.

Amazing job! Can't wait to try it.
Incredible update, every time I think: "tool is so cool it has all I need" It turns out you still can add someting so useful hah :D

This addon is basically UNUSABLE because when you want to draw it enables the click and drag (tweak) feature for the mouse. USELESS!
You have to enable hair drawing, then hold D - and draw with left mouse. You can check in HTool addon preferences > hotkeys > if D keys is mapped correctly.
Hello! is there other way to purchase this addon other than gumroad? unfortunately gumroad couldn't process my card for some reason.
