How to volunteer abroad for free

  • During our past years of travel, we've done a lot of volunteering work: as teachers in Senegal, Mexico and Turkey, caring for animals in New Zealand, Australia, England and Greece, working with small communities in Morocco, landscaping in Ireland,... and the list goes on. We never had to pay any money to work as volunteers even though there are many website and organizations that would charge you a lot of money for this type of work! So how did we find all these volunteering jobs around the world for free? That's what we explain in this video that we made for Helpstay. And guys, you know we wouldn't recommend anything to you that we don't believe in and haven't tried out ourselves!

    What a great and worthwhile program. Not only do you get given board and food but you get to make a difference in the process and see a bit of the world. That's a win for everyone!

    Thank you for your vid! Ive been seaching recently for volumteer work, but got quite suprised at how expencive it is. I have always tought volumteering meant helping without pay not pay to work.
    Some of the volunteer works ive looked on costs more than what i earn in over 6-12 months, so i am glad i found your video! I'll look into the website!

    Definitely had a good laugh about this (kind of) because it is sad just how much some of these programs charge to volunteer. glad you brought up this issue and shared a constructive and detailed way on how to volunteer for free! I have friends who went WOOFing which is another way to volunteer for free

    I'm a married straight male but JESUS Nikko looks handsome in this new video! haha... Love to hear about your stories guys and thank you for this recommendation. A while back Gloria and I wanted to volunteer for a school in Africa, and were put off by the amount of hassle/money it took just to have a chance to go there and help the children. Currently our plans are moving us in a different direction but in 2018 we will definitely give HelpStay a shot. It seems like a very genuine service.
    Again thank you!!

    This seems to be a great way to see the world on a budget! I always worry about the nature of volunteering abroad and struggle with the idea of taking jobs away from locals. I'm curious if HelpStay take that into consideration?

    • @HelpStay
      @HelpStay  7 років тому +1

      Since these jobs are not paid ( voluntary work) the volunteers are not taking jobs away from locals.Also all of the volunteering opportunities are completely organised by the local communities.

    I've been looking at volunteering options over the past year, and becoming more and more depressed. The idea of paying £1000+ plus air fare has really put me off. Also, most of these organisations seem to expect more than 2 - 3 weeks help. I need to work my day job here in the UK, to pay my bills. Can't really take 2 months off! I will certainly have a look at Help Stay though. Seems more what I was looking for initially.

    Pay to work? Preposterous right? Outrageous. Still there are thousands of people willing to do just that. I work for you and I pay you as well on top of it. So these are actually holiday resorts stripped to the bone for which you pay an arm and a leg. Final thought. It's a sign of the times we all are so used to pay for everything that even this scams look a legitimate bargain.
