I used to listen to this song all the time years ago. I was at the time considering moving on from my relationship and this song would hit hard every time. Back then I would asked myself all the time: "if I go on on with you by my side you can it be the way it was...". In the end it didn't and it was over. It's just sad how we sometimes change in ways we don't want to, we stop feeling things we hold dear to ourselves. Some feelings you just can't control sometimes. This song still hits hard today and I guess it ever will.
Junio 24, 2020.
I remember 2012, I had this song playing in a quiet ride home with my ex after our final fight. I felt this song too much that day and I can still remember the feelings I had That day because of this song.
i love this song.... its got that heartbreak melancholy of Roy Orbison... Runaways too and Miss Atomic Bomb... A great if slightly flawed album. Brandon said it should've been better but the guy is such a perfectionist. His could have been better is another artists career best... My favourite Moron ever!!!!
I can almost never pick favorite songs from any given artist - hands down my favorite. Holds a special place, because it came on as I was driving through the Mojave Desert trying to figure out what the heck to do about a relationship. I took it to be a sign to walk away, and I did - but blasted this song on repeat the entire rest of the drive. Night + desert + this song = out of body experience.
Cassandra Coleman, From Idol brought me here, this song is a great song, and I knew very little about this band they are fantastic. This band should be the next Superbowl halftime show....
You may say I'm crazy, but I this album was one of their best and it was put together so well and once again they have reinvented themselves sounds like they are taking the plunge through the decades they were obviously in the 80s and the new album based off the new single definitely going through the 70s now!

The way he finishes the song singing, "Can it be the way it waaaaasssss?" That brings me chills.
Such an amazing and underrated song. Love it!
Check out their album "Imploding The Mirage" It could be their best album ever!!!
@TicklerDude huge fan here..... already heard it many times. Wasn't a huge fan of Pressure Machine though.
@emilyhutchens3682 pressure machine wasnt bad there were a few good songs
I used to listen to this song all the time years ago. I was at the time considering moving on from my relationship and this song would hit hard every time. Back then I would asked myself all the time: "if I go on on with you by my side you can it be the way it was...".
In the end it didn't and it was over. It's just sad how we sometimes change in ways we don't want to, we stop feeling things we hold dear to ourselves. Some feelings you just can't control sometimes. This song still hits hard today and I guess it ever will.
omg same situation with mine
@@shuhadamohdali3008 It's a very difficult situation. I hope you were able to get through it.
best killers song ever
Oh yes!
No, their best song is Smile Like You Mean It
Ill always miss this friendship.
3:17 Those background keyboards go straight to my soul. :'-(
These guys never do a bad song...ever! In this song, the lead singer has a Roy Orbison-esque sound. Just love these guys!!!!!
Sad...happy...inspirational...just great.
Amazing song...from a truly talented group of artists.
“Maybe a thief stole your heart.”
That line gets to me everytime. You too? haha
"that thing was running on momentum, love and trust" about Brandon's dad's car is an awesome line too.
😞
Tiara Mae me too
Love so much!! "Elvis singing don't be cruel...🎶"
I love the sound of the guitar ♥️
This song made me cry, thanks to Cassandra Coleman for bringing me back to this. I love the Killers. I’m a fan from Nigeria 🇳🇬
Aww. What other bands do you like?
Junio 24, 2020.
"My heart is true.
Girl, it's just you I'm thinking of;
can it be the way it was?"
Every fucking time. Right in the gut.
What an incredible song
2:37 that scream always gives me chills!
I remember 2012, I had this song playing in a quiet ride home with my ex after our final fight. I felt this song too much that day and I can still remember the feelings I had That day because of this song.
Daniel, I wish we could go back to the way it was. 💔
Such a classic song!
2012, the year it was ❤ forever
This honestly my first time here* after seeing Cassandra Coleman Singing in the #AmericanIdol2021
same brother
She killed it.
this is a cover copy from The Guess Who
loved hearing her sing this
Yes
i love this song.... its got that heartbreak melancholy of Roy Orbison... Runaways too and Miss Atomic Bomb... A great if slightly flawed album. Brandon said it should've been better but the guy is such a perfectionist. His could have been better is another artists career best... My favourite Moron ever!!!!
My thoughts exactly with roy orbison. When he sings sometimes a dream it don't true,I can hear orbison singing it.....!
You mean Mormon lol!
excelente canción ! una de las mejores, tendrían que haberle hecho un video
estoy de acuerdo contigo
Genia :)
Juan eylenstein pienso lo mismo amigo
si muy buena
Cierto... debió
Killers just the best bro
This needs a video ASAP!
I think they haven't released one on purpose. Look at what each person takes from it. That's why its so beautiful, I think!
Yep
I already loved this band and song..but American Idol bought me back again!!
THANK YOU! I was like, "Oh my gosh, I can't believe this song is being represented." Made my day, glad you knew it beforehand too!
I can't describe the feellings that makes me feel this song... I love it.
Ahh this song takes me back
What a great song. What a great album. The Killers never disappoint! :)
What I love about The Killers songs is that all of their songs progressively get better as the song goes on
1 The way it was
2 Runaways
3 Miss atomic bomb
Agree
Yup
Maybe not the best in the album but still pretty darn good.
I completely agree.
Flesh and Bone
I can almost never pick favorite songs from any given artist - hands down my favorite. Holds a special place, because it came on as I was driving through the Mojave Desert trying to figure out what the heck to do about a relationship. I took it to be a sign to walk away, and I did - but blasted this song on repeat the entire rest of the drive. Night + desert + this song = out of body experience.
This song deserves much more recognition then what it currently has!
there’s no doubt this is one of their best songs.
Cassandra Coleman, From Idol brought me here, this song is a great song, and I knew very little about this band they are fantastic. This band should be the next Superbowl halftime show....
I am jealous of you. I have been a fan since the beginning but you have the pleasure of catching up with the music of one of the greatest bands ever.
@@malcolmwilson4348 Yes i have a lot of catching up to do!
Green Day and The Killers are my favourite band, been a big fan of them since I was 5 years old.
What a song!!,Elvis singing Don't Be Cruel, it brings back great memories when I was young!!!!.
You may say I'm crazy, but I this album was one of their best and it was put together so well and once again they have reinvented themselves sounds like they are taking the plunge through the decades they were obviously in the 80s and the new album based off the new single definitely going through the 70s now!
Can’t believe this song doesn’t have more views
"Sometimes our dreams don't come true"
Perfection on EVERY count!
I've listens to the killers for years. When you were young has been my go to song.. just discovered this song... happy new year... the ways it was....
Elvis singing DONT BE CRUEL and i wonder IF YOU FEEL IT TOO its like we going under......
One of my fav line
Oh God this song is so underrated... one of their best definitely
This song will forever remind me of lost love and lost opportunities. An indescribable yearning
Man I wish I would get a chance to experience love to understand songs like this
"To understand songs like THIS" You better don't. Love can be a total hell
Ivan Perez you are fuckin idiot the love is the most important thing in any life
It is important, yes. But it's a stupid fucking hell. You twatnose
Isaac Madrazo he's right, you twatnose
Be careful what you wish for.
