Daniel Plainview It's different from anything they've done before. People always have something to complain. I liked it too, it's different but still very much Muse.
Daniel Plainview I love this song to death. The "I need your love" part is transcendent. Getting chills just thinking about it. I think the 2nd Law is a great album. It's just different, that's all.

I just love the escalation of this song. It starts at a very low pace and it's amazing how it gradually, patiently rises until 4:10, when you simply stop doing whatever you're doing just because you get too overwhelmed. Headphones are mandatory for this song.
Fábio Aresi Excellently put. I remember hearing this song for the first time. Still remember how I felt as it reached its heights. Felt like I’d been drop-kicked in the heart (in a good way!) Just magic. Music at its best.
There's an excellent reason why Muse is so popular and respected, it's because they cannot be easily classified into just a genre of music, they are a versatile band whose music can attract nearly all kinds of audience. Not only they experiment with different sounds (check the difference between Hysteria and this song!) their music is also ensured quality. They experiment, but they do it right.
+Roldie Generally they are in the alternative/Progressive genre. They're popular because they're good! Even by older standards when music was still art.
+Roldie The most amazing Muse moment i saw in a music video is when at the end of one of their songs transformed into a Piano virtuose and played a masterpiece from Chopin. Just amazing.
4:11 all is right in the world and that man hit a vocal note that brought all of you wonderful beautiful people here to celebrate. I feel a little less lonely now.
Madness is a perfect song. The way the bass syncopates with the dark, 90's industrial keyboards and his ethereal, ghostly voice at the songs climax is absolutely spine tingling.
I wouldn't say perfect but it's a great song. There's something satisfying about the main electronic riff. A more perfect song for me would be Knights of Cydonia.

For me, it's the 20 second guitar solo at 3:07 that is short but infinitely perfect. Makes my brain happy and produces that buzzy serotonin/chills throughout the body effect. The layering and build is without fault; this song I never get tired of listening to.
You know what's funny? When this song was released I actually thought it was kinda boring and wasn't a fan. After a couple years, listening to it every now and then, it's become one of my favorite Muse songs.
The kind of song you listen to when you have had a few drinks and miss someone so much. And when that part "I need to love" comes, it hits you hard and you are so tempted to pick up the damn phone and make that forbidden drunk dial.
+Yutella Drunk dialing produces unwanted drunk dates that produces drunk babies. No one wants unwanted drunk babies. Unless you're a drunk douche bag. and then you deserve to be a drunk baby daddy.
That slide at 3:14 literally gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Such a simple and short solo but honestly so good. It's like someone speaking a profound statement in a few words. Muse is such a masterpiece.
Muse usually have two kinds of music. First is the one that you instantly love, like Hysteria, Supremacy or Dead Inside. The other one is like Madness, which sounds boring at first listen, but once you "get" it, is impossible to not love.
Madness is a song that anyone can relate and connect with who has experienced significant pain and loss in their life, whether it be the death of a loved one, or the loss of an ex. This song touches that part of your soul that only those who have done their own soul searching can truly feel...
Aye I can't get these memories out of my mind Some kind of madness has started to evolve Aye I tried so hard to let you go But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole Yeah I have finally seen the light I have finally realized what you mean Now I need to know Is this real love? +Felix Abk yes, you know imo i think that Muse take the place of Queen, and they are inspired by them, i saw an interview of Matt in wich he says that Queen is one of their favorite band (sry for bad english) ;)
It's fine and yeah most of Muse's die hard fans know that Queen is one of their biggest inspirations! United States of Eurasia is a great example. Btw are you french? Your name sounds french hehe
After the disputes that I read here, I must also share my opinion: When I look at the work as a whole and the statements of "Muse", then I say that every album from "Muse" typically "Muse" is because Matthew Bellamy likes to experiment with the music and really tries (in comparison to other bands / musicians) to create with each song / album something new. Even though the album "The 2nd Law" is fundamentally different than the previous albums and contains "atypical" sounds, it is still typical "Muse" because it shows the joy of experimentation. In "The 2nd Law" you can notice it clearer than ever. Conclusion: Despite the very different sounding sound compared to the previous albums, it is a typical "Muse" album because of the still existing passion for experimentation.
Truth to this. The talking heads were way into "experimental" before anyone started making it a problem. It takes away from the beats and puts you into the mind of the creators, something more to appreciate. But some things will come out like shit, regardless.
The discipline Muse has is unreal to giving the best music eargasms is unreal with a 3 man band. The digital bass guitar as seen on making of Madness 2nd Law deluxe version is just wild.
My son's favorite song since he was 5. He is now 8. Next year, June 8th, I am taking him to his first ever Muse live concert. Experience of a lifetime.
This is such a beautiful and sorta sad song. So much emotion in Matt Bellamy's voice. I love when he says" I have finally seen the light." I also like when he sings "I've tried so hard to let you go-o" Also I love the stuttering of the word "madness" and the dubstep/EDM influences in it. Besides that the melody and tune of the song is absolutely beautiful. Really shows how Muse has changed lyrically and musically. I love the guitar solo and the guitar he uses. I'm also getting strong Queen influences. Probably one of my favorite Muse songs to date.
I can't believe that I haven't this 11 years. Driving home from groceries a couple of months ago and heard it on the radio. I said to my husband. Wow what an amazing new song and he laughed and told me it was released 11 years ago. LOL I can't stop listening to it. Love the song.
Anybody notice the glass harp in the background starting at the 1 minute mark?? Seriously, if any of you notice it, just keep paying attention to it as those slower lingering notes carry the rest of the song, it makes it feel more epic, you feel the build up happening already, and that's what Muse is great at with structuring their music, buildup and climax.
Oh Wow, after all the million listens I've given this song, never heard that! I think it's synths though. Nevermind, It's amazing how subtle yet Beautiful and effictive that layer is!
This is what music is. Not only that, but it tells you the truth what’s going on in life, don’t just listen. Feel it. It takes you away. They are lesson to tell us the truth damn.
Come to me, just in a dream, common and rescue me.......this part makes me experience all the supernaturals.... trembles, chills, transcendence, eternity.
Sometimes when I feel really low I listen to this song as it is my favourite song performed by them. I close eyes in bed at night and then at 4:09 onwards, I get this massive rush of goosebumps. I just fully relax, let the song takeover and I feel like I'm floating.
I remember hearing this song when I was like 11 or 12 and became obsessed with it. About two years ago it randomly popped into my head and I couldn’t remember the name. I finally found it after awhile and I’m just as equally obsessed with it. I think it’s where my love for music started.
Idk how old you are but their 2003ish album was the shitttttt. This song was a one hit in comparison. You gotta listen to their Absolution album in full.
Right!!? Make no mistake, after seeing him play guitar live, this solo is not that complicated in structure… But… No, other solo would have fit into the song as powerfully as this one. Just an amazing solo! If I had a dollar for the air-guitar I have done to this…. I’d be fairly wealthy
Caramba! Como eu amo essa música! Marcou uma época na minha vida! Sempre volto a ouvir , pois ela sempre completa algo que mora aqui no vazio dentro de mim!!! Amo esse clipe, amo!!!

Ella you are wrong.. The only LOVE we can control is our own... I wrote this song.. The world needs more Love from each and everyone of us & we can all beat this Madness that has taken control..Be Kind and Loving in all we do. It's that simple
I remember the time this song first came out and everyone was like "wtf is this" and it makes me rlly happy that today ppl actually accepts and loves this song as well as being open to Muse being rlly experimental lately.
@@trishnevarez4190 back when this came out, majority of the yt comments and people from twt were complaining about this (the usual bs about wanting muse's BnR or OoS sound--when does this ever end tbh)--your experience may have been different from mine. i remember being upset at how few actually loved the song immediately. but i guess that's muse's magic. it takes a few listens before you grow to love all of their songs 'cause when they experiment, they do it right or the song might just be too ahead of its time.
This song is still as relevant and goes just as hard now in 2023 as it used to when it was released in 2012. It gives me the same chills today as it did the first time I heard it. It's an amazing piece of music. That bass... And the way they build up the sound... I have no words to describe the feeling. It's flawless.
I got to know this song in 2015, it was amazing, since then it's been a sensory experience to hear it. As Schopenhauer said: "music is an unconscious metaphysical exercise, where its spirit philosophizes without knowing". Thanks, Muse. (11/18/2021)

Congratulations! I like this song too. It's definitely one you can sing, by the lake.
For me, it's the 20 second guitar solo at 3:07 that is short but infinitely perfect. Makes my brain happy and produces that buzzy serotonin/chills throughout the body effect. The layering and build is without fault; this song I never get tired of listening to.
Absolutely same 😊❤
I often think that the guitar solo was inspired by Queen's Bryan May
@@rosemaryselden8976 i think this song as a whole had heavy Queen influence

Incredible solo
You could say this song is or is almost euphoric. Amazing. I’ll keep coming back to this as long as I am alive. Thank you Muse.
You know what's funny? When this song was released I actually thought it was kinda boring and wasn't a fan. After a couple years, listening to it every now and then, it's become one of my favorite Muse songs.
Same omg

this kinda scared me at night when i wake up my brothers has this as his alarm lol

Same here! At 4:00 and forward was just insane watching them live. I just wanted to hug everyone and anyone.
Unless you're a drunk douche bag. and then you deserve to be a drunk baby daddy.
oldsarge101 Hahaha what... I don't think that far. Drunk dial often produces conversation that your sober self will never say though.
+Yutella at least you get it off of your chest. Closure can help, even though you feel like a fool for a week or two.
+Charl Coetzee I've never felt like a fool weeks after I did something like that. I was like 20% more confident.
+Lord Hexdrix and his wicked world of insanity we all have different levels of emotional damage
Oh boy, The last "I NEED TO LOOOOOOoooooOOOOOOOOVE" make me start to convulse.

Orgasmic!!
This song hit different when driving at night
That slide at 3:14 literally gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Such a simple and short solo but honestly so good. It's like someone speaking a profound statement in a few words.
Muse is such a masterpiece.
Thats my favorite guitar ruff of all time

I can’t understand how anyone can dislike this song. It’s incredible in every way.

Muse usually have two kinds of music. First is the one that you instantly love, like Hysteria, Supremacy or Dead Inside.
The other one is like Madness, which sounds boring at first listen, but once you "get" it, is impossible to not love.
"First is the one that you instantly love, like Dead Inside.
"
Lol WHAT ?
It's not impossible.
Hmmmm, that explains their new album then
Madness is a song that anyone can relate and connect with who has experienced significant pain and loss in their life, whether it be the death of a loved one, or the loss of an ex. This song touches that part of your soul that only those who have done their own soul searching can truly feel...
I loved this song the first time i heard it tho
Aye
I can't get these memories out of my mind
Some kind of madness has started to evolve
Aye
I tried so hard to let you go
But some kind of madness is swallowing me whole
Yeah
I have finally seen the light
I have finally realized what you mean
Now I need to know
Is this real love?
Or is it just madness keeping us afloat?
When I look back at all the crazy fights we had
Like some kind of madness was taking control
Yeah
Now
I have finally seen the light
I have finally realized what you need
Now
I have finally seen the end
I'm not expecting you to care
I have finally seen the light
I have finally realized
I need to love
I need to love
Come to me
Trust in your dream
Come on and rescue me
Yes I have known
I can be wrong
Maybe I'm too headstrong
Our love is...
Mama mama...

There's some Muse's fans there hating on this song but those back vocal layers at 2:23 is just pure genius.
Sound like Queen, i love it
Sounds like Queen in a Muse way.
+Felix Abk True for united state. And yes i m 100% french, my name betrayed me lol
One of my favorite songs to blast on the radio when driving late at night. I can't say I fully understand why it is, but it just works.
It's an ultimate breakup song. Like Disintegration
Two people finding each other in the midst of this crazy world. That is what love is.
Idk why, but this song is so relaxing.
It has a hypnotic beat.
After the disputes that I read here, I must also share my opinion:
When I look at the work as a whole and the statements of "Muse", then I say that every album from "Muse" typically "Muse" is because Matthew Bellamy likes to experiment with the music and really tries (in comparison to other bands / musicians) to create with each song / album something new.

Ditto. Great song. Intense music video. And the guitarist invented his own guitar for the major riffs.
Julio 24. Fantastic soul¡¡¡¡
The discipline Muse has is unreal to giving the best music eargasms is unreal with a 3 man band. The digital bass guitar as seen on making of Madness 2nd Law deluxe version is just wild.

@@SnufflySpy yes. They’re doing one next year
I'm seeing them live for the first time in January, I'm beyond excited. Congrats to your son! I hope they play it. ❤️
TheVarietyBros you and i would be great friends dude

I can't believe that I haven't this 11 years. Driving home from groceries a couple of months ago and heard it on the radio. I said to my husband. Wow what an amazing new song and he laughed and told me it was released 11 years ago. LOL I can't stop listening to it. Love the song.
goosebumps every time he belts out those notes at the end
YES
Yesss!!
Same
Both lead actors sent it over the top. Especially when he belts it out. It's everything leading up to that one point in the song/video...magic
Yup the climax of the song is the best !!!!!!!
OMG THANK YOU! Now I can not hearing it!

Just an amazing solo! If I had a dollar for the air-guitar I have done to this….
