This video was my savior I took my kids for an extra class in the evening and it was freaking cold mistakenly I left my keys in the truck and the whole car was locked after calling the roadside assistance the car was open however the trunk didn’t open my daughter and my son almost froze to death. After watching so many videos, I stumbled on this video it was a lifesaver. Thank you much you are the best.
Two thumbs up! Way way up! The key was folding the rear seats down, and the solution was moving the wire that was past the plastic holder. Couldn't have done it without those details from this video. Thanks a million!
thankyou very helpful video i had same problem i went to so many mechinics they were able to figure out what to do . but its opened when i followed the instruction from you video👍
this works fabulously. Great instructions and didn't take me long to get my trunk open. The hardest part was getting the cable to unlatch the seat. Thanks Evans Uko you saved the day!!!
Thank You Mr Uko for making this video. What a horrible idea Hyundai had when they designed the trunk like this. I had a canvas cleaning bag in my trunk and it must have caught that button and changed its position. If not for your video, this would have been a complete mystery to me.
Thank you for this useful information!! My Sonatas motor blew and its been sitting, battery died and couldnt open the trunk!! My pistol case was in my trunk for months before I stumbled upon this video. Thank you!!
Thank you! I almost called a locksmith but decided to do some research first. This video is very helpful and is actually quite easy. Thank you very much, you probably just saved me at least $200
My Sonata is 2015, and those cables are not visable. I was on the verge of breaking my back seat to gain access when my wife learned that the valet key is used to turn a keyhole right above the rear licence plate and this opens the trunk. I can't believe that this situation is not more prominently mentioned somewhere inside the car cabin.
This helped me so much I can’t figure out why it doesn’t open with my key or button that’s on the trunk but will open if I put my key in. Have you guys figured it out?
Omg thank you. Why hasn’t anyone made a video with just this fact. Edit Well only works with the valet key which I don’t have. But his method saved me several headaches; easy
Found your video on time before the locksmith arrived. Saved myself $200. I’m so happy. After going through a lot of videos and yours was a life saver. Thank you so much and God bless you for sharing this with us.
@keshaundra258 nope, I kept trying and even used a metal hook to try and pull it but it didn't release the seat. I ended up going for a different solution to access the trunk space by finding this video: ua-cam.com/video/tyDjRmF-k3o/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
This was the tricky part. I pulled on the area of the wire past the yellow area (towards the center of the car) it worked. I ended up doing both sides to give more room to squeeze through. The other side looked red instead of yellow. The passenger side leaves the bigger opening of course.
On my 2014 model, there is also a keyhole on the trunk, slightly hidden, on the opposite side from the latch. I was able to open mine by pressing down gently on the trunk while turning the key.
There is a key hole on 2011 Sonata trunk if you look up on left side of license plate, push the key in it. Looks like close, but that will open for the key. Use the key and open the trunk instead of going all this
2017 sonata is the car I have and it’s not working there is not yellow cable nothing like that no yellow lack or nothing like that… where is the vedio of the women talking because it’s obviously that it’s different footage.😢

Looks promising, but I could not understand how do you *pull* a cable with a screwdriver? Did you maybe mean push or push to the side?
Did you figure this out

Thank you for posting this I have the exact same problem but this does not work on a 2016 Hyundai sonata 😢😢😢😢
doesnt work on a 2012 either.
How do i pull the yellow cable 😅 bro good job ❤
Pull the screwdriver towards the front. This was tricky to figure out
This was the tricky part. I pulled on the area of the wire past the yellow area (towards the center of the car) it worked. I ended up doing both sides to give more room to squeeze through. The other side looked red instead of yellow. The passenger side leaves the bigger opening of course.
If you have the valet key, a locksmith can modify the key to make it a master key that unlocks the trunk.
Thanks, had the same issue with my 2012.
Thank you very much, i didn't know what eslse to do
My car is a 2014 model. There is no upper lock so I can see the cable. What is the solution?

Why the HELL do cars have this feature????
Sir this not working for me
Sorry to hear that. Please look for other solutions or contact the manufacturer.
Thank you!

Definitely wrong year on car
Look at jesus himself
All you need to do is use the key to unlock the trunk and then reset the latch. You don't need to put the seats down.
Not true, it's SO STUCK it won't work with key or key fob :(
You talk tooooooo much.
Thank you so much
Thank you!!!
