They have a version with a pocket for a sleeping pad and I'm wondering if that would be equal as having the under quilt to help with keeping warm?

No clou how you setted up the underquilt all i can say from my experience after i bought the underquilt for the Night Cat is that its not wide enough for the Hammock, for a normal Hammock the Night Cat Underquilt is pretty okay and cheep but under the Night Cat Hammock Tent i wouldnt use it cause it lays to tight to the Hammock. The Underquilt need to be 30cm wider to fit totaly well and gives you a good air circulation between Hammock and Quilt 🤷
Will mosquitoes still get to you with the underside quilt?
If the screen is zipped mosquitoes shouldn't get you with or without the quilt....
In my opinion with it on the ground you might have to have a canvas mat under

We used it in the rain last weekend and it stayed dry inside
