Enjoyable tour. I can't remember the brand, but our family of 4 lived in a 22' camper for 2 years back in 1947-48. Me and my brother thought it was fun...Mom cried a lot during that adventure.
Thank you so much for the tour of the Elkhart Travel Trailer Museum . Years ago we had an Open Road Camper Van that was great . We only went on a couple of trips , but had it for several years. Took it to Disney World in ‘72 and stayed at Fort Wilderness Campground .
Thanks for this excellent and comprehensive tour. I really enjoyed seeing the vintage campers, especially the Lindbergh one. I didn't know that he was a camper enthusiast. Take care and happy travels to both of you. 👍💯.
That museum is awesome! Loved seeing all the vintage rvs! Def have to have a Winnebago lol! Wow didn’t realize that place was only four hours from us! We are going to have to check it out!
love this video. and that last trailer you showed where we had to guess the name of it I am guessing its a Shasta, my parents had one similar to this one back in the early 1960s right after they got married. Dad was in construction and he and mom traveled from one construction site to the next and pulled a small Shasta trailer home they lived in, of course my sister and I tagged along until we outgrew, and about 30 years later I rented a small trailer and when my parents came to visit they both were not only surprised but dad discovered it was the very trailer they lived from 1962 to 1967 as in the closet that's in the bathroom still had the wood frame dad put in to make a bed for my sister and I when we were babies. too bad then the owner did not want to sell it at the time.. and now its long gone.
I lived in Elkhart for about 44 year now I live just outside of it and I have never been there. China Star is definitly the Best . Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for taking all of us on the tour of this museum. I think that last rig was made way before my time, but someone already guessed who made it. Calling it a Mansion is to me an understatement! LOL! My favorite is that Winnebago … looks like the one from Trapper John, MD, the one named ‘Titanic’!
Wow, that is awesome. Some of these I'd rather have than a current one. Seemed really home like rather than luxury small apartment. Much better camping experience IMO.
I have to comment on the first trailer you presented, the little black teardrop. I have my parents two burner propane stove exactly like the one in that galley. I also have the aluminum griddle that was made for it. Mine has an attached emblem between the two gas valves. It says "Cent-a-Meal", I guess that was the company that made them, but the one you showed is the only other one I have ever seen. Kind of nice to put an era on it, I would have guessed the 40's or early 50's, I grew up eating hotcakes and eggs cooked on ours, and still use it for camping, and a stove for when the power goes out. I'm 74. Nice video, great old campers!
Cool museum. I was recently at a military plane/auto museum in Paso Robles CA. They had a beautiful REO Speedwagon Motorhome from 1929. It was gorgeous all wood inside.
Really great episode Michael and Jo Ann! I love how the first one is a tiny teardrop. Really nicely done too! One of my other favorites is the Serro Scotty teardrop... that was a fun surprise! A campground in the Finger Lakes region here in NYS (Sampson State Park), has a Vintage trailer rally every September. Someday, Chris and I have to get to that! I also thought Camp-EZ could be featured at the museum too =) ~ Maria ps. I cheated and peeked at the Museum website ... I found the 42' trailer... I'll only say... it's as old as I am LoL (1955)
I just love you guys. I currently camp out of my truck but I dream of a teardrop one day. Hoping for a Vistabule. But for now I just love looking at your videos. Keep up the good job.
Hey, just what I was thinking. I'm getting a new truck (Maverick) but the bed is too short to sleep in so considering a teardrop. That Vistabule does seem nice. Pricy but nice.
There are solutions to fit a diy unit into the bed like a. Upscale with smaller base but it expands above the bed to create a white giant teardrop that starts over the cab and slopes to the tailgate I can send a sketch. See my life pod UA-cam sc hobbyist. Michael r weekes
Wow!!! Awesome Video! I've followed camp and camera for a year now! I wished I'd have known you were in town! I work in Elkhart and would have enjoyed meeting you! I've been thankful for all of your advice on your build! I've finished mine and am heading to Acadia in September for 2 weeks. Thanks for all you do! LOVE CAMP AND CAMERA!!
Hey, I would loved to have visited with you while there! Wow! A trip to Acadia would be sweet! Congrats on your build, and safe travels. BTW - I’m digging the biplane in your avatar! Pilot?
@@CampandCamera Unfortunately not a pilot. I work the flight line at the Elkhart Airport just a mile down the road from the Hall of Fame. Shame on me for not going there but when the corporates fly in I always point them in that direction. :) Perhaps I can go to the Hall of Fame soon!
Thank you for this wonderful video. My Dad, Jim, and I visited there in the late 1990's, and although awesome then, it was a lot smaller. Dad, um, "went West" in 2008, so I am currently crying while watching... 😞😓😩😤😡
I really appreciate you showing that black Teardrop I seen someone else did a walk through they did not show that one I like they put a top load fridge in it the other one you showed the grey teardrop was super nice too having only one door on a Teardrop seems odd if the other person needs to go in the night they have to hope over the one still sleeping not waking them
I'm retired from the Smithsonian Institution and have visited a lot of museums. If you like Americana, this is one of my all-time favorites, along with Warp Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska. You can easily plan a vacation of museum visits in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Ohio.
If you likes this museum you'll love the Volo Museum in Volo Illinois which I think is about a 100 miles or less to the west. They not only have muscle cars but movie cars, a few Dussenbergs... and a camper section with some cool vintage camper. There's also military vehicles and snowmobiles and outboard motors for boats. It's surrounded by an antique market as well. Very worth the trip😊
Oh great, now we have to go to Indiana! Thanks a lot ;) So, my guess is it's a train car. Namely because of the whole 42' thing. I mean, where do you park at Denney's. Thanks for another great video. We also know your names now. I like that. Hope to meet you some day at a teardrop meet-up. That is, as soon as we finish building ours. :)
some great vintage stuff. However i didn't see even one of what i own. A real 1954-55, 45ft long "Spartan Mobile Manor" These were made in Oklahoma by a airplane manufacture. I really love mine. They had quality in mind to keep up with the competition in those days.
Airstream in the last camper. Is the Spartan Mansion in the Airstream family? Just going by the shape and interior wall, I'm guessing some sort of an airstream. We have a pop up, which were perfectly happy to have. We were building a teardrop, but didnt get it done, and now that our basset has grown into a senior, and we liking our space, more, we decided to go for a Pop up. Perfect fit. And it was already to use.☺️ First one we looked at, and the layout was just what we wanted. Thanks for this tour! Husband's cousin lives up near Elkhart, IN, and mentioned it. We haven't been there yet, though, just various car/truck museums.
I don't know a thing about Serro Scotty campers but there was an old one at my campground last week. I guess I should have stopped by to chat about it.
I’m thinking the 42’ RV was the 1954 Spartan Imperial Mansion
Bam!
@@CampandCamera hmm guy knew his rv's bravo
I love the spartan mansion, we use to live in one about 6 years ago I loved it
Is it just me or does that 13' airstream look like a toaster? Love it!
I loved that Winnebago you showed, hear the end of the video. These old campers seem so homey, with their decor. I love them.
Some of those 70+ year old campers look to be in better shape than a lot I've seen on the road! 👍️
Cool, i never knew they had an RV hall of fame.
You guys do such a good job putting together these videos. I felt like I was at the museum myself.
Thank you, keep up the good work.
We really appreciate that! Thanks for coming along.
Since I'll never be able to go, thanks for taking me on the tour with you. That was really cool.
Excellent Video! I Really Enjoyed The Tour! Thank You.
Really enjoyed this video on the RV Museum in Elkhart IN. Thank you for bringing us along on your journeys.
Enjoyable tour. I can't remember the brand, but our family of 4 lived in a 22' camper for 2 years back in 1947-48. Me and my brother thought it was fun...Mom cried a lot during that adventure.
That looked like the trailer Lucy had in the long long trailer. I think it was a Spartan mobile home.
I like the 1985 is calling. Exactly what i grew up camping n fishing in with Grandparents. Loved This tour. Thanks
Another great video, Michael! Thanks for keeping us all connected!
I love the background music.
It's so hard to believe how much things have changed in what is really a very short time. Cheers for this!
My Dad and I visited in 2018, I would go back in a heartbeat. Karen Hanten

I’ll bet that was a great trip!! I didn’t realize Fort Wilderness had been around that long.
Was It worth paying taxes and insurance for so many years to only use it a couple of times?
Thanks for this excellent and comprehensive tour. I really enjoyed seeing the vintage campers, especially the Lindbergh one. I didn't know that he was a camper enthusiast. Take care and happy travels to both of you. 👍💯.
Excellent share - what a blast from the past.
That museum is awesome! Loved seeing all the vintage rvs! Def have to have a Winnebago lol! Wow didn’t realize that place was only four hours from us! We are going to have to check it out!
It might be a Spartan. Fun tour. Thanks!
11:14 Man, it really bugs me when I see a camper has a bigger sink than the one I have in my apartment! I would kill for a double bay sink!
I can't begin to guess about the mystery trailer, but it has a cool 60's look. I really enjoyed the show.

Love that old teardrop galley.

Truly enjoyable to watch Thank-you
Thank you!
Omg! 1985 called and want their camper back 😂😂😂 I want that baby airstream so bad!
It’s a cutie for sure!

Thank you for your nice videos.
I didn't know about the museum either. We may have to go some day. Another good one Michael!

Wow I would love to go there thank you for posting
Being from tulsa my guess was the spartan, but I couldn't tell you what model.
Love yalls videos
You’re right!
Thank you for sharing this, it was very interesting.
That is one place that I hope to visit one day.
AWESOME…!! 👍🏼👍🏼😊👣🩴

Yes ! The trailer from the Lucy movie! The one she goes on her honeymoon with and collects rocks . I’ve seen it years ago on telly here in Australia.
Well, I didn’t know about that! Now I’m gonna have to watch that movie!
That movie was hilarious, I'm from Oz also😀

The Long Long Trailer w Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz
That last camper looked like a Spartan to me.
You got it!
Very well done. Good job
Bro this is awesome man!
This one was sooo interesting! Thanks 🙏
😅 Nice effect at 5:31, "1985 called".
This is awesome, definitely one museum I'm going to want to visit! 👍
LOL! I thought that would be fun. We really liked this museum.
Airstream in the last camper. Is the Spartan Mansion in the Airstream family? Just going by the shape and interior wall, I'm guessing some sort of an airstream.

Great to hear your pop-up is a good fit for you. Anything that gets you out camping is the best! You got the Spartan part right.
Great tour
Did your 42 ft mystery camper include a sewing machine? (Seen best at about time 11:17) Thanks for the tour. ~ Steven, Utah
Sparta! Love them.
First thor camper or a true park model. So cool like that museum.
I own the famous 63 Winnie that spent every year at the MN State Fair for decades. Might sell it this summer.
8:58 they actually do make windows that open up in that manner; I've seen mostly double paned Euro windows that open like that for rain.
That place is well worth the stop. Best part to me, the irreplaceable smells of history...
Nothing smells like a vintage camper!
Thanks for posting. Love you're videos.
Thank you!
Wow! the small airstream would be perfect for me.
THIS IS 100% AMAZING 😘
This is awesome! Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
That 42’ looks like the trailer used in the movie “The Long, Long Trailer” with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez.
Nice tour 👍🏼
Thanks! 👍
I love this airstream
Very cool!
another great vid, loved the walk through time
I'm guessing the trailor is the one from The Long Trailor with Lucy and Desi.😝I did see the real macoy being towed to I'm guessing a festival.
I don't know a thing about Serro Scotty campers but there was an old one at my campground last week. I guess I should have stopped by to chat about it.
They’re definitely a part of RV history. This teardrop model was pretty cool!
The one at 7:36 is legendary 🤘😎🤘
