This was bitter sweet for me! My earliest memory maybe 3yrs or younger is camping with my parents. My dad is in his late 60's and my Mom passed away in 2011. We stayed on the beach in a TINY camper. My mom had me at 17!! So this is in 1979. On Matagorda Bay Between Galveston & Courpus Christi. They were poor young hippies scraping by on Love 🥰. We stayed a week in that tiny camper night fishing and all piled in the bed together. I often think of that memory & it fueled my love of tear drops. I can't picture the outside no matter how hard I try. My mom would tell me often, Good thing I was just a baby and had NO clue how broke & hopeless they were. Funny because it's such a treasured memory of mine! When you stepped in your camper I almost fell off my bed!! THIS IS THE EXACT TYPE OF CAMPER WE STAYED IN!!!!! SAME layout, stove, bedding - MIND BLOWN. I have looked for years! Now I know the outside, the details as an adult! It was an OLD pretty rough original they had rented then! Made me get a lump in my throat. I see my mom so young and vibrant enjoying the adventure! My mom was hardly older then I am now when she passed. She battled stage 4 Breast Cancer for 9yrs. and by then there wasn't much left of her or her spirit. She would later say we were "camping" waiting on a furnished apartment to become available. Had it not been for that tiny camper we would have been homeless! Funny how innocent kids are, as long as they are loved and feel safe, they have no clue how precarious things are. She looked back at those days as making the best of a desperate situation. Probably fishing out of the mere necessity too. I see my first adventure that fueled a lifetime love of Camping, the beach and a obsession with tiny little trailers 🥰😍😇 Thank you for the trip down memory lane & solving a lifetime Mystery! 😉⛺️🏖
Its a peace of art Patrick. Super well done. My offer just went up to 125 k, and I know thats not enough. I hope you keep this forever. If I did the work you did on this, I wouldn't take a million for it.
WOW! You did an absolutely IMPECCABLE job restoring that - it's so beautiful. It's nice to see someone put the time into the craftsmanship and the effort to make everything congruous takes a keen eye not everyone has - really really impressive : )
The end product is a testimony of love. The perfect blend of upgrades while keeping the original flavour. Excellent job Patrick. I can't believe you found perfect cushions! So well done. High five!
To think this beautiful sweet treasure was made when I turned 7 yrs old. This is a true treasure!! This is something that you will never regret doing. I love it. Thank you for sharing your love you put into this home.
Beautiful!!! I really like the way the Nest cushions look in there and the color is very vintage looking. Of course I like the whole thing. You could have likely easily bought a new one for the amount you have in it, but yours is truly one-of-a-kind and tastefully done...priceless.
Watched all your videos from start to finish. I'm restoring a 58 Steamline trailer and I found a lot of great information in your build. Excellent Job!
Best of luck with your restoration, Python! I hope you can meet up with Patrick for a tour when you are done. I think his tours are always fun to watch.
Wow! All your hard work and attention to detail has paid off! It came out great! Now it’s time to enjoy it! Maybe you need to design a new trailer line for Airstream and call it “The Patrick” 😆
Patrick, great restoration! You have the advantage of working with RVs and the knowledge to know what you wanted in your Airstream. Love the little touches you made and your explanation of everything. Those Airstream cushions are quality! How fortunate you found a replacement that would fit. Loved the vintage color and style as well. I think you turned a lot of people on to Airstream replacement cushions for their rigs. I enjoy all of your videos. Thank you for sharing your RV this time.
Patrick, so excited to see your completed refurbishing of this beautiful 1961 Bambi. Nobody does a better job than you on Airstream tours. Your love , appreciation, and knowledge of the Airstream is incomparable and I find myself glued to your videos. You have re-boosted my determination to one day have my dream come true of owning a Bambi. Beautiful work you have done on your restoration. So enjoyed the tour, thank you!
You are justifiably proud of your work and skills used to bring this Baby Airstream back to its glory days. I think I, at 4'10" tall, could live full time in this beauty.
Your ability to not only plan but execute the plan is phenomenal. I most enjoy your tour and its complete explanation of all the details. A most enjoyable viewing! Than you
Just stunning. I could just tell that the love you were putting into this camper was going to pay dividends and it does not disappoint. The way you hid the outdoor shower was genius.
Absolute perfection. I really admire how much time and thought you put into the restoration. Maintaining as many original components as possible adds to the authenticity. Your work is impeccable Patrick! I hope you enjoy the finished product for many years to come.
Awesome rebuild! I love Airstream trailers. When I was stationed at George Air Force Base in Victorville, CA, every winter thousands of Airstreams would fill the fairgrounds with snowbirds.
I have been watching and enjoying your tour videos. And I'd have to say that this renovation tour of your beautiful Airstream Bambi is absolutely wonderful. Your attention to the Airstream details and the knowledge you have of Airstream Campers, makes this video so special. Thanks for sharing this Jewel with all of us. Great job Patrick, she's a beauty!
I have a 2005 , 75th anniversary Bambi ( Thor ). I love my Bambi but have to say the original is so well made! My floor rotted out and I had to have it replaced. It was impressive to see how well the original was made. I prefer my layout but something very special about yours. Your craftsmanship had made your Bambi priceless !
Maintenance and preventable maintenance is key. The floor will rot when exposed to water for more than 180 days. Always inspect your RV inside and out.
This is soooo nice. I could live in this full time. Id even trade my van for this. Maybe. You did a great job! Thank you for sharing this and for all the work, sweat, heart and soul you put into the remodel.
Stellar! I was born in 1961, and I am a Gypsy descendant. I have a 1/18 scales of this style. I keep it as a symbolic representation of my love for 'caravans' and my itinerant Spirit. Great seeing the real thing. (Im from Atlantic City myself). Amazing job, Jersey!
I somehow missed this video when it originally posted. UA-cam recommended it today. I love your enthusiasm. Thanks for sharing this with. It's fantastic.
What a wonderful job of restoring, not renovating! The thought you put into keeping vintage parts, polishing original parts, etc., keeping original ideas while adding newer and necessary updates is impressive. Things like keeping the old vent outside but sealing it indoors, keeping the original battery container and repurposing it, hiding the new heater output so nicely, keeping the original drawer system (not putting in new punch-button ones) are so thoughtful. Ditto hiding your outdoor shower - that all impressed me. Kudos!
Back in the 70s we went to an air stream gathering . I can't remember how many where there but that was my first time seeing the inside of different airstream. There where long ones , baby ones and some middle sized . We where they with a square dance club doing a demo . I remember the shine on the airstream and lots of great food. You did an amazing job bringing this one back to life .
Spectacular! Love the walnut and also the bright white. I love how you restored as many components as you could. Love love the cooktop. Fantastic job Patrick. Oh My!!!
You did an amazing job with this resto-mod, I love your attention to detail. I had a chuckle when you mentioned the old school labels and having someone on Etsy make them, I still have one of those label makers and use it occasionally. They were the original cordless label maker😁.
It’s perfect! Everything turned out so well, in particular those cushions are kick as#. I love your table and countertop (beautiful wood and finish). The toilet base that your friend made really looks good. Your obviously a perfectionist and it shows, thanks for sharing it with us.
This is obviously a labor of love. What a beautiful restoration! Your hard work has paid off. I love that you saved all the different emblems, warrantees etc. I like the color scheme. The device to hold the lawn chairs is awesome, I always look for the area for storage for chairs, trash and laundry when I view these videos. I can't recall, did you invent the holder for the chair holder? Overall, incredible 👏. Thank you for sharing. I am sure that this is like displaying your baby for the first time. Have you ever thought about doing conversions? You have the knowledge and expertise of what people would like based on having seen your camper and this Airstream restoration.
You definitely found a diamond in the rough you did a excellent job on remodeling this airstream I wish it was mine lol keep up the good work be blessed thank you for your presentation.
Wow Patrick- That was an intimate tour of your spectacular restoration, revealing your painstakingly intricate attention to detail. You balanced the modernization perfectly, while maintaining all the aspects of Bambi's originality. It serves to show that the investment of time and meticulous labor really pays off. And yes, I LOVE it!!!! ♥️

Have a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2022 Patrick!. I really love all your videos & it's even better when it's something you have done yourself!
As usual, great video Patrick! The work and attention to detail you put into both this trailer and your Airstream van are amazing. No shortcuts, and it shows in the finished product! I will have to check out the entire restoration series.
After thoughts:: 1. Thanks also for new ideas like adding the low-point drainage points and securing the inverter on the fold down panel, and the Battle Born with heater - I can use those hints! 2. Seeing the tear drop running lights and large round tail lights reminded me how my brother and sister-in-law had a car-show business geared to antique autos/vehicles. I actually still have some of the tear drops and old bulbs which could be available for you to give to others who are doing a similar restoration if you want them. 3. Oh, and now I know what those pyramid-looking frames in the cellar are - old stabilizers!

Patrick youve done an absolute awesome job on this! Be proud! I'm only hoping you have children or nieces/nephews to pass along your wonderful love and knowledge of campers!! 💖💖
I love this! Can you share the brand of smoke detector you have? It looks petite and aesthetically pleasing. I hate to have something off-scale in a small trailer. The one thing I can offer you is: Museum Wax. It is a putty-like substance (used in museums) to secure items in a display. You can secure your plants, for example. I secure things on my mantle at home so the cats don’t knock them over. It’s a great material for improvisation because it stays put until you want to remove it and then it removes easily, without any damage.
Thank you for the suggestion, I will check it out. I looked at my purchase history and I cannot find it and there are no markings on them. I believe I bought them on Home Depot
Wow, you really did an OUTSTANDING job restoring this baby! I think I would have to pull it with a truck, with a shell that has a back door, or an SUV, with storage capability built into the back 1/2., so that I'd have a place for xtra things that can't find a place in the Bambi. It's pretty storage-challenged, but GORGEOUS! xo
Wonderful walkthrough video Patrick, and well built....I always enjoy your videos, you give in detail description. Well done . Looking forward for more of such amazing videos.
Beautiful restoration on the stove. I think that you did a great job on the choice of a refrigerator, it does not clash regarding style, in particular the white front that matches the stove.

It's pretty storage-challenged, but GORGEOUS! xo
Thank you very much!
Wonderful walkthrough video Patrick, and well built....I always enjoy your videos, you give in detail description. Well done . Looking forward for more of such amazing videos.
Thank you very much
Beautiful restoration on the stove. I think that you did a great job on the choice of a refrigerator, it does not clash regarding style, in particular the white front that matches the stove.
Thank you very much. Emma
