    Thank you to the "Time-Stampers"
    I know I F'd up on the Nate Dogg thing. Message received :-)
    Also, I LOVE this one and it has already become my favorite since I started this journey.
    To the person saying to Tweet this to Snoop... How F'n Sweet would that be???
    One more thing... I DO understand what $5 on the $20 sack means. My issue was how much did you think you were going to get for it!? haha

      20 sacks used to be fat in the 90s. In Buffalo, in the 90s, there were spots you could go to and roll 4 nice blunts of a 10! Real talk!

    The Chronic - Dr. Dre - it’s the origin of the GFunk

    • @MOORxDOPE

      Not quite, Above the Law was first

    • @GG-dd5uw
      @GG-dd5uw 6 років тому +4

      perfekt1 ehh you could argue that GFunk was created by Warren G and Dre while Above The Law was classic West coast gangsta. But again its like opinions on flavors

    • @MOORxDOPE
      @MOORxDOPE 6 років тому +10

      G G it’s literally where he got the idea from. Hutch and Daz has talked about it numerous times and Dre’s leads are almost identical to early above the law.. this is from a huge Dre fan.. Dre was more on the classic PUblic Enemy sound while hutch was crafting g funk... Dre didn’t get on it until the last Nwa lp

    • @antichoice1
      @antichoice1 6 років тому +1

      @ perfekt NWA's first album was '87, what demo do you have that predates it, because Above the Law's first album is officially 1990's Livin' Like Hustlers?

    • @MOORxDOPE
      @MOORxDOPE 6 років тому +4

      antichoice1 Bro, nwa’s 1988 album had no Gfunk on it...there was absolutely no trace of gfunk in nwa until 1990s 100 miles and running which came out August 1990. Above the law came out February 1990

    This is why I love your videos. I’ve listened to Doggystyle for 20 or so years, I must’ve just gotten used to it, sometimes we need a fresh perspective to appreciate how great it is. I’m only at Ladi Dadi right now, just thought it was worth mentioning that it’s pretty much a homage to Doug E Fresh and Slick Rick’s version from 1985.

    I’ve said this on other videos but this and The Chronic are the two best produced rap albums ever. Musically and technically. They’re mixed flawlessly. Dre replaying samples with live instruments was huge.

      Every sample that Dr. Dre has ever used has been properly cleared to use in his productions. That is the opposite of stealing.

    • @VolkXue
      @VolkXue 6 років тому +1

      SnackBarSounds... No, Dre changed the law by not sampling and having a separate band play the songs. There were giant lawsuits over it at the time specifically related to the Chronic. The Fatback Band and a few sued Dre at the time. Leon Haywood most likely got robbed the most though

    Bruh... what someone else already said, such an amazing feeling seeing your reactions to something we grew up with. It's especially refreshing because I was a metal head too until I found out about rap. And you recognize rappers well already!
    Gonna exclude skits here:
    6:09 - Gin & Juice
    9:26 - Tha Shiznit (this thing was freestyled)
    13:36 - Lodi Dodi
    18:12 - Murder Was the Case
    21:31 - Serial Killer ft. Kurupt (verse 1), Daz Dillinger (verse 2) and RBX (verse 4)
    24:18 - Who Am I? (What's my name)
    27:15 - For All My Niggaz & Bitches ft. Kurupt (verse 1, 3 and 4), Daz (verse 2) and Lady of Rage (hook)
    29:55 - Ain't no fun (if the homies can't get none) ft. Nate Dogg (verse 1), Kurupt (verse 2) and Warren G (verse 4)
    34:02 - Doggy Dogg World ft. Kurupt (verse 2) and Daz (verse 3)
    38:07 - Gz and Hustlas
    41:10 - Pump Pump ft. Lil Malik (verse 3)
    Dre is credited for producing all tracks, but a lot of the beats were made by Daz Dillinger. Producing is kinda different than making beats tho, so they both did their job amazingly here.

    “ I got 5 on a 20 sack” means that he and most likely 3 other friends will pitch in $5 each which will allow them to get a $20 sack! Most dudes from the hood couldn’t afford to just go all in and get the 20 sack on their own. I got 5 on it is one of the most well known phrases in Hip Hop history. A hip hop group called the Luniz made a song titled “I got 5 on it” and I highly recommend it!! It’s an instant classic!! If you do a video on it come “prepared” like you did for this reaction video cause I can see that you’re more focused!!

      Leon Anderson Compare the commercial ones: Juicy and Mo Money mo problems.
      Juicy has a meaning in the album, it adds a lot. Mo money and even Going back, they don't mean anything to the album. Just two singles, know what I mean?

    Dude, that was a blast! I haven’t listened to this album in awhile. But listening to this again brings me back.
    And watching you react to it brings a smile to my face. I guess it’s amusing to see someone enjoy listening to something they normally wouldn’t search for. But, you seem like a pretty chill guy.
    And don’t feel awkward pausing to speak; your analysis and interpretation of each track is awesome. F-k people who complain.
    I listen to all kinds of music; and over time you take the classics for granted. But after revisiting this album, it makes me appreciate the talent that went into making this, and every other great album.
    Badass music is badass music, no matter what genre.

    I definitely recommend for you DMX - It's Dark and Hell is Hot album, or at least the song Damien from it where he talks with the devil. Slippin is a classic with a good vibe that tells of his upbringing. DMX is a rapper from New York that got popular in the early 2000s. His rapping is gritty which you might like from a rock perspective. He was signed to a label basically on the spot at a party because he is that good at his best.
    Plus Slim Shady LP, especially the songs on it that were on the mixtape Eminem made that Dr. Dre heard that made Dre sign Eminem. It is amazing to imagine Dre hearing those songs for the first time.

    Its not just that you're buzzed that you're feeling this album. It's a really well produced album. Snoop's smooth delivery, Dre's beats, the songs all just kind of flow into each other so it's almost like one long experience rather than a collection of songs. The storytelling going on in a lot of these songs is genius. What's to hate?

    I've said this on ur videos before, I truly appreciate what you're doing with this and I love how you being a producer can see hip hop for what it is. Dr. Dre is a wonderful producer and engineer, but most of this album was produced by Daz who was Dre's first student and he learned well. Hip hop definitely takes talent and I'm glad you can see all of the talent hip hop actually has.

    I was smiling when the Shiznit was about to start lol That’s one of my favorite beats and songs on the album. Honestly smiled every time a song started hah. I used to listen to this album everyday growing up hah. And next time I have an album I’ll be sure to text and call you to get it pushed up for a reaction hahah.
    Let me tell ya why this album “feels” so fucking good hah. A lot of the samples that Dr Dre used we’re from soul and funk classics from parliament and other 70s groups with some hip hop drums and beats . If you want to rabbit hole into some shit look at the songs credits and lists and I Guarantee you’ll love all of those bands as well and the songs they came from . That’s how I grew my appreciation for music over thee years... but this Album is a masterpiece/ classic hah. It’s how a lot of people were introduced to Snoop and why he’s a legend to this day. And like a lot of other people commented for your questions, that’s Nate on the hook hah. Ohh and I think that’s George Clinton on the intro as well. Keep em coming man!
