iPhone 12 Pro Max Abandoned & Unclaimed By Owner - So I Fixed It For Myself
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 тра 2024
- Its back for another video! This iPhone 12 Pro Max was found on the side of a highway being left for several days in the rain. Likely also being ran over at least once. In the last video we tracked down its owner and reached out to him in several ways, but 6 months on and he never claimed the phone. So being left with it I am taking it upon myself to fix it up!

People be like "Why not change the rusty screws?", Apple be like "NON GENUINE SCREWS DETECTED!"..
LOL
Won’t be long trust me guys jeez a focking battery not allowed now
Mdr
@@DocumentingLife8619
Unfortunately an iPhone does show "cannot confirm this is a genuine apple battery" or something like that and you can't access battery health
Well as an IRP Technici you need to replace evert screw you used. It’s included by the new part. So yes ;)
I like how Apple are claiming to be going more green, and then at the same time do everything they can to stop people just fixing the phones. Surely that will make it more green too.
Yeah, green as in money.
aka greenwashing
The iPhone 14 is actually the easiest iphone to fix since the iPhone 3G
It was the runner up to being the easiest phone to fix
1st place going to one plus I believe

@@Maximus20778 ah gotcha
Surely Apple could allow people to validate parts to the new phone online, if it is really about security that is.
We both know it's not, it's about Money.

This might be one of the most impressive restaurations yet. I find a lot of broken, abandoned phones myself but I doubt I would ever fix them as good as this. Wow is all I can say
Restoration
If only there is a way I can buy them from you 😢😢😢 that would be a lovely way of feeding my hobby
@@wealthgrowth I tell you most of them are beyond repair. I have a Galaxy S3 with snapped board, a lumia 510 with multiple dents in the board and bad charging port. A galaxy A51 That is actually promising - Visually good circuit boards with cameras and battery but bad mid cables and no display, also have an unidentified xiaomi phone from around 2018 in the same condition. The rest are in bits (iphone 3gs no board no battery cracked screen, iphone 4 only half the board and frame, huawei nova 5t missing display swollen battery corroded board, unidentified samsung bent in two no battery no screen, 1 unidentified keypad nokia with likely firmware problems
The most I could do is part out whatever i could and sell locally for a grand total of 5 bucks. If you live in Romania I'll literally ship you my whole collection, there will be 3 extra phones which charged last time i checked (2y ago) and my old main phone
@@ticn I would repair them too but the cost for the parts is too high and is not worth the effort,I live in Romania tho :)

Hey Hugh, i just wanted to give an advice on how you can remove the adhesive from the side of your phone, this trick is actually used by my local repair shop, just take a small motor along with a battery and either take a small screwdriver end or a thin metal rod and attach that to the motor, it helps to speed up the adhesive removal process 😊
Yes, you can buy those as well for about $20. Think they are just called "glue remover tool" or something like that
Those don’t work with the 12 series and up. 99% of the time it rips.
Amazing restore! And I'm sure Apple loves you being able to do it! 😊
Your detailed repair make our day... Thanks to repair master
Hugh, you've been killing it recently, I really enjoy your videos
Love seeing a rare, functional Apple repair. Cheers!
Awesome job Hugh! Well done 👏👏
This restoration has blown my mind 🔥
Love it HJ. Keep fighting the good fight.
You really know how to fix phones some repair shops are bad but you do an amazing job
Brilliant job, Hugh.Cheers 🥃.
Great job once again.
I always look forward to your videos
Amazing work!
Nice work, enjoyed it.
Hey Hugh,
Am your biggest fan here in kenya. Keep up the awesome content
Love the videos Hugh! You are by far one of my favorite tech youtuber. Keep up the good work!
No wonder he threw it out the window😂 Why does apple have to make it so complicated??

Hey Hugh, really liked the video. Just want to say that since you have the original earpiece cable you can reprogram it with the i2C i6s programmer and pair it to a new special i2C flex. After that you just have to solder back a speaker. Done it on the iPhone X. It’s even possible to reprogram it if you don’t have the original earpiece flex but you’ll have to take out the Nand and use the p14 pro. So it’s a big advantage that you have the original cable.
your name is so cool
@@dinozaurpickupline4221 Hahaha thanks!!🤣🤣
Another great repair by Hugh Jeffreys.
4:11 “Out with the old, in with the new”❤
I’m literally watching this on a 12 pro max and it just makes me so sad that someone abandoned this! It’s not even super out of date. I’ve had mine over two years and had no issues.
You will have issues soon
sucks that a lot of the time it's legitimately just not worth it to fix devices like this
Same! When he opened it up and showed all the dirt and gunk inside, it almost made me feel sad, like it was an abandoned puppy or something omg. Had to have been a rich person or something to abandon it because mine still feels high end in 2023 🤷♀️
@@arkvsi8142 oh yeah, it comes with the territory as apple products get older (*sigh*), but as long as I keep a charger with me, I’m good to go
I thought you would never upload a new video, but glad you did!
Lol why
Hey, fantastic video like always, have you thought about doing a “Q and A”? I have some questions and I have a feeling others do too and wanna know more about what you do.
Beautiful and wonderful content, your follower from Yemen
Fantastic repair
Really nice work.
I've found that heat works well with some of the new adhesives on 11 and up. It will soften it somewhat
Love your work Hugh!
5:25 actually iphone 12 pro Max has sensor shift stabilization wherein the lens remains stable on main camera.
Great video sir
Nicely done..😊
why didn't you disassembled everything and cleaned it properly??? It still doesn't look clean inside. this bothered me so much omg
He never cleans phones fully, its bothering me too.
@@DonPatro92 there's no point to as long as it all works, they would've been erroded by now if it had made a difference.
Great job!
Nice work. Very interesting.
Nice video, Hugh :)
I don't have the patience and skills to rebuild a broken phone like that :)
The old camera can be cleaned by chucking it into alcohol for a day though.
You are the best ❤
Nice work

great video, is the s23 video incoming, really wanna see if sammy did some antirepair stuff
Hello,
That's an impressive restoration.
I have some questions about the usability of this damaged phone, if you have time to answer.
- Have you been able to do an iOS update ? I ask in order to know if the problems you see about face ID and other, prevents the phone to update or not.
- Have you been successful in adding a SIM card ? Have you done a phone call without problem ?
- Is the WiFi and the 4G functioning ?
In other words, is the repaired phone is usable, and was the hassle of the repair worth it ?
Thank you.
Was watching this while doing a buttload of homework, and right as I finished the final assignment Hugh went "and we're done" which was just comical timing lol
4:11 my man did a ChrisFix move right there
great job. I would be happy with this result.
you should make a video on how and where to find the best aftermarket displays
where do you get all of your high quality screens because i would love to get some screens to replace one of my phones damaged screen
Hello Hugh I'm a big fan, have you encountered any PWM flicker issues on iPhone, how do you deal with it and what is the permanent solutions without setting up the white balance, does replacing the screen fixed the issues? Thanks
Great video! Yeah these companies talk about preventing e waste. They are the ones causing it! It’s all about money. I was given a 65 inch android tv, all it needed was a t con board, works fine now. Cheapest tv I ever had!
We have a phrase where I come from - You have golden hands! I think the meaning is obvious. Well done, mate!
Very very good job, I was surprised, not even I, I would have picked it up on the road, is this the worst phone you ever repaired, thanks keep up the good uploading good videos, are you based in Sydney
Supreme job Hugh
Nice work as always especially with the cleaning process!
Great job
Big score!
Great job Hugh. Apple is really screwing its customers with all of these serializations
Well done !
Amazing skills.
the man is a wizard! =0
Highly appreciated 🙏
But I still wonder why you didn't just disassemble its parts at once, then try to clean it up fully?!
Just curious Hugh. What happen if the iPhone component for this phone were clean up using ultrasonic cleaner? Will issue be solved, or it still be same? reason I ask is, on automotive industry, normally we clean car component (like car ECU) using ultrasonic cleaner if it rusted.
0:20 I love how you still use that older phone ( what model? I like it) instead of the newest
In our country iPhone (any apple products) considered as a DISPOSABLE tech it is not because where are rich it's because of its products are unrepairable and parts are SOO expensive.
from where you are ?
You are so lucky in the U.S we don't have the Sim card which is stupid
Which company or website do you use for parts?
Another very interesting video.
Very good!😊
I'll never buy an iPhone but I love watching these videos because every time one of these phones gets fixed, I think of it is like we are all sticking it to Apple for their anti right to repair ways.
this video was very good.
Do you think that iPhone 15 models will have esim only in more countries and do you think iPhone outside the us will get mmWave support
For important disply message you need to replace screen ic swap from old lcd to new lcd
great video, iphone 13 pro max. when best place to get repair parts listing diagrams, Thank you
I think you can replace the camera modules with a V15 Pro and a wechat app, I'd love to see more of the custom Chinese programmer repair tools
Nice, good you could do something with it!
Did you updated the jcid programmer? Because the board is a recent model so if you didint update the programmer a while, you need to update first trough jcid repair platform on pc
Who ever abandoned this phone shame on you and I love your vids they are so entertaining
Good stuff
Really good repairs Hugh! I wish Apple wouldn't serialise the parts, it's so annoying!
I wonder if water has corroded something that is affecting the logic bord henc affecting apple pay id and the front camera assembly.. so soaking it all in alcohol bath in a ultrasonic cleaner like a full 1L IPA in a ultrasonic bath for a hour might actually fix any correction in places you just can't get to without using a hot air station and remove all ic's and re solder it all.. it's worth a try as the IPA will clean up any corrosion especially in a ultrasonic bath.
Imagine the OWNER coming to claim it now 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Check the antenna cable at the top right on the camera module for the apple pay issue, thats an antenna which helps for the nfc on the front side, if that had corrosion there is a huge chance that it needs replacement so apple pay messege to be fixed
Thanks for sharing this video, you have done a brilliant job on what you have achieved..All the Best....Andre..
Crazy how well you fixed this. Always annoys me that the "non-genuine" messages happen.
Thanks for the great video Hugh
4:10 Love the ChrisFix reference
I‘m working with these JCID Boards for the Cameras but I am using it on the JCID V1S Pro. I only can‘t read the Camera data when the Camera is shorted and the camera will get very hot as well . Maybe your board were shorted when it failed on all cameras.
Nice restore
Your work is so important!

What tools do you use?
Hugh, I replaced charge port flex on a iphone 12 I bought for $65 because it would not charge with cable. After replacing it, it charged but the touch on screen would not work and was getting message that screen was not original. But still had true tone. I used a mouse to navigate. I decided to erase the phone. The mouse would not work to set up the phone. Would the charge port cause the problems Im having or do I need a new screen?
What a repair! Hats off!
The guy abandoned it because it was cursed. Now, it's been passed on to you.
I have a broken Iphone 12 pro and a one that was replaced by some other parts that has a system pop up that not genuine, parts are display, camera app not working etc. Is it possible to swap my genuine Iphone 12 pro without any problems?
