Finding the footprints of the 3 legendaries has to be some of the most out of place thing they did in SwSd in general. Rule of thumb should be that if you can't do something well then don't do it... All 3 pokemon in question have 4 legs with different footprints. Yet the footprints are just a *pair* of the same oval shapes. They didn't even bother making 3 different set of footprints to match the pokemon. When you track a monster in Monster Hunter World every single monster has several different tracks they leave behind as they move around in the map. Whether it's footprints, them scratching the ground to mark territory, shedding scales or even carcasses left after they eat a smaller monster. I get that the tracking of pokemon is not the main focus of the game or the DLC but it's yet another perfect example of the bare minimum implementation of a feature. I appreciate that they do at least something different but the execution is just so bareboned that it pisses me off more than makes me want to praise it.
They don’t even need to create new footprint designs for the Pokémon as they have each of their footprints shown in their respective Pokédex entries. All they had to do was throw the 3 different footprints into the textures for the footprints.

Yes, I also wanted it to be good but when I saw the price tag after knowing it wasn't even finished and then they were gonna sell content that should have been part of the base game as DLCs I just couldn't even think of buying it. You have to pay for the game, the 1 or 2 (or maybe more) DLCs, the online membership, the fucking transfer app that doesn't even let you transfer what you want and pokebank in case you want to transfer something from a previous gen (and you can actually do it). I just bought Digimon instead. 2 full games for the price of one, they come with every DLC and pre-order bonus present in previous versions (for free) and you can even transfer Digimon in between both games.

I liked legendaries back when they meant something. Now they are just random concepts thrown together to justify some Pokemon being stronger than others...
Your points about their refusal to do anything really interesting with the battle system is really one of the most frustrating things about modern pokemon. The battle system hasn't had any major changes since the physical/ special split and they really don't try and explore what they can do with it. They added double battles, triple battles, rotation battles, horde battles, and totem battles and only double battles have stayed, if just barely. There's so much potential with these extra systems to make cool ass boss fights against a souped up, unobtainable legendary or non- pokemon boss that messes with game mechanics in a fun and memorable way. I know people wouldn't care if you couldn't capture a legendary pokemon since they're supposed to be so dang powerful and, like you mentioned, they are usually unusable in serious content. I played Shin Megami Tensei Apocalypse recently and in comparison, even if they've had a very similar battle system for the last 3 games, they explore messing with mechanics and give you interesting ways to use the battle system. There's a boss that swaps weaknesses constantly that lets you take advantage of your ability to change party members mid-battle at the cost of turns so you gotta weigh your options, there's a boss that gets stronger each time you hit his weakness for extra turns so you have to play around it, one where you need to build a team around *preventing* them from scoring extra turns, and more. Just stuff that tests your mastery of the battle system, the ability to adapt and take advantage of the options available to you makes for some really fun and memorable encounters that Pokemon really never tries.
I think there's two major issues with the combat system in pokemon: 1. Super effectiveness is way too powerful and often decides battles based on who has the type advantage rather than the actual choices made by the player. This is a big fundamental issue and really takes away all challenge especially from mono type gyms. You can literally just catch a random pokemon that's super effective against a gym and pretty much oneshot through it all, what part of that is being a pokemon trainer? 2. And I think this is an even bigger problem... None of the opponents in the games use advanced mechanics and the player has access to multiple different benefits. EVs, items, move synergies, abilities, switching pokemon and the special gimmicks megas etc. are always accessable to the player but the AI enemies never use them. Not only does that make your pokemon stat-wise overpowered compared to all opponents, all instances of depth and challenge are taken away cause the opponents almost never use items or actual strategies. Even something like the Galarian Star Tournament is a complete joke cause you can bring 9 pokemon and there's no level cap. It just makes no sense and it's incredibly immersion breaking. The battle system in Pokemon actually has a good amount of depth to it when you take in account all the things I listed above yet almost none if it used in the games outside competitive. In gen 1-5 there's several difficult opponents but in gen 6-8 I can probably count with one hand the amount of relatively difficult moments in the game.

Oh godness, you finally make me realize why the open world of SnS made me always soo angry- its the biggest franchise in the world and yet the world is void of personality and flat! And the Pokemon are rather random and seem scattered, instead of herds staying together,, Robotic indeed. The comparison to Breath Of The Wild made it really snap (aaand made me want to play the game despite never touching a Zelda game before-)
BotW is crazy nice just for the sheer joy of discovery while playing it. Every so often I see a video of some neat combat trick or someone exploring some neat place I never saw in the 3 times I've played and it just blows my mind (and makes me really want to play it again). Definitely worth giving it a shot.
Bro I cannot recommend Breath of the Wild enough, it’s full of serene environments and creative challenges and is just so much fun to explore. It came out back in 2017 and still holds up to this day. Definitely worth the money, both for the base game and the dlc. Also the art style is gorgeous-
I agree, I like the thought of legendaries but I think they should be difficult ingame bosses unable to be caught. How is it legendary if everyone has them?
32:00-33:00: Its so sad he's amazed by this, even though this is so totally natural and simple. This is literally the definition of what people call 'starved for quality'...
Agree with most of your complaints, just wanna point out a couple of things: you CAN actually use many of the legendaries in ranked battles by default, like all the "minor" legendaries (the legendary birds and dogs, the regis, latios/latias, the genies, the ultra beasts...). It's only the "major" legendaries that are currently unavailable, but ranked battle rulesets actually change periodically to keep the meta fresh so I'm sure that towards the end of the game's lifecycle they'll allow any non-event legendary to enter, they did the same in Ultra Sun/Moon. Also from their perspective they did actually all legendaries with Crown Tundra, it's just confusing because the Pokemon Company classifies event only legendaries as "Mythical" pokemon, that's why those are missing from Dynamax Adventures.
Although I completely agree with how the newer pokemon games, the graphics and designs of characters are amazing it still lacks life and the love that was put into other games like omega ruby and alpha saphire and sun and moon, there are some beautiful moments in the crown tundra, my favorite part of the dlc was the part where peony wakes up behind the logs or roots with us and is like, " Hey..what's u- OH MY GOODNESS!" just the sheer shock and mindfricked expression he has when he wakes up is priceless
Legendaries are cool plot devices but stuffing several dozen of them in one area just sucks. I was so disappointed to find out Diance wasn't a Carbink evo
My favorite thing about the Galarian Star Tournament is that I can get my trainee Pkmn to lvl ~50 after just one run; granted, I needed a consistent way to sweep most duos in the tourney (Ty Toxtricity). I just barely found you, but you've definitely got my sub~
Honestly, the key word here is care. They dont care, at all. They know they could release a literal hallway of a game with a few bushes here and there to encounter creatures and there still would be fans buying two copies and defending it furiously...
about the moltres encounter. You literally just can fly to the train station on the island and intersect it right next to the dojo. I personally hated all the running around cause it was like a worse version of the "running" legendries (latios/latias, the lake trio, legendary dogs, etc). I know those had set patterns to follow as well but like my main issue was running into other pokemon just loading into the wild area as I chased zapdos and articuno down. One thing that especially peeved me was the dyna adventures. Fun gimmick the first few times but its so frustratingly slow and just impossible with most npcs. Only reason I wanted to hunt these legendries when I already transferred my own is the chance of them being marked, but considering each run takes me 20 minutes I just don't feel like its worth resetting. I wish they put them in open world too or like the old gba and ds games, have the returning legendries have their own separate discoverable areas that you have to stumble across or have items to access (example the encounter with kyogre/groudon in HG/SS). I can still remember that giddy feeling playing FR/LG for the first time as a kid and just stumbling across the original bird trio while exploring. So much missed opportunities with this whole entry. Swear the only good thing this dlc brought was my metagross back.
@@slevinchannel7589 nope but thanks for asking and not replying with anything actually having to do with the video or the content of the comment! Have a wonderful day
Easy set up for a negative in the galatian star tournament: you can be overly leveled and hold six while everyone else got three and no player character team ups.
It’s Called Pokemon But the Pokemon Feel Robotic - The best Example For a Great Game with Creature’s is Monster Hunter Monster Hunter has a Good ish Landscape it’s the same path over and Over but the monsters they have their places their nest They change pray spots water spots sleeping spots they sniff around the play with their environment they’re fight each other Their creatures Feel Alive Wich Makes the Game Amezing.
The Galarian Star tournament isn't actually good at all. Mainly because it's way too easy, there's no challenge whatsoever. You can bring up to 9 pokemon in total against the 6 of your opponent's and there is no level scaling meaning that you're able to bring a Lvl 100 pokemon to just oneshot everything. A simple "choose 3" system and lvl scaling would've easily fixed these issues and it's actually something we've had in every single past game with similar features. I get that the text lines and interractions are cool but c'mon that's something that should be expected by default. It's just text, I don't think that much thought was actually put into it. If something as basic as this is worth praising then the standards for these games are stupidly low. They could've made an actually challenging end game tournament with the opponents having genuine competitive level strategies and items etc. Black & White 2 had the world tournament which had literally all gym leaders, elite fours and champions from gen 1-5 with real strategies and you were limited to certain amount of pokemon and a set level. It did a feature like this way better and you didn't have to pay freaking $30 to get an access to it.
I would’ve preferred something like Isle or Armor and Crown Tundra as the main game that has a story of instead of being a Pokémon trainer we’re supposed to explore the world and research legendary Pokémon as a professor’s assistant. There would be interesting puzzles, awesome plots, and interesting rivals that you meet along the way. When your done with the main story there could be a battle frontier:gym challenge DLC. It’s because the games are so boring now that it’s just no point in buying them when EVERY GOOD THING CHANGES AND EVERY BAD THING STAYS THE SAME .
It dawned on me the other day. The game developer Wild Card already had a Pokemon game that make Game Freak look bad at their own thing. This may be a long comment FYI. So if you don't know Wild Card made a game called Ark Survival Evolve. You tame dinosaur and all other kinds of creatures. Well a year and a half ago I believe Wild Card added a feature called Cryopod. This Cryopod acted just like a pokeball. But a slight difference is these Cryopods had charge timers on them, so you will have to return to your base and charge them. And if you look on UA-cam some content creator reskin Ark creatures to look like Pokemon. Game Freak should be talking with Wild Card to see how to fix Sword and Shield.
There's dozens of mechanically better monster collecting turn based RPG than pokemon out there. Temtem, Monster Hunter Stories and Digimon to name a few. But Pokemon is pokemon and always gets special treatment. No matter how shitty their games are they still sell well while other franchises might kill the whole series if they mess up even once. It's incredibly sad. Monster Hunter Stories is finally getting a sequel next summer and I really hope people check it out. It's got everything the pokemon games lack and more.
Legendaries are only great for shiny hunting. They're more like trophies tbh. Also I hate when they add random versions of a pokemon. Eevee is the only one I get excited for. But pokemon like the two new regis, galarian and alolan forms and so on are just dumb. Just make new pokemon!
@@ihaventshoweredin7weeksbut792 personally I think they could've made all new pokemon instead of replicating existing ones. I dont think we needed 3 different meowths, diglett with hair or giraffe exeggcutor.
Pokémon's world simply isn't interactive. That's the word you may have been looking for. You can only talk to people and fight Pokémon. In a huge world that you can't touch. Imagine wandering through a big store where most shelves are empty and you can only buy pasta and soda.

As a kid playing pokemon soul silver I alwaye saw legendary pokemon as signs of achievement, like how you finish the games and have the box art legendary to show for your efforts, now they are handing the legendary pokemon out like candy which is really dumb to me.
The point about set pieces was really good as I just played spiderman ps4 yesterday and a chase scene WAS scripted but it was really fun to play without knowing and felt like you controlled the pace. So in pokemon its really underwhelming...
you aren't even wrong. The ""open-world"" in sword and shield consists of a linear road that STILL ends up in the same place every time. It's just a glorified route. a true open world would be breath of the wild, hell *minecraft*. Sword and Shield don't qualify as that, since really you can't have an "open world" and still have closed off sections.
I got my team to lvl 100(easily), so why should I spend 30$ on the dlcs when I can buy another game? I refuse to use legendaries, I completed the DeX in ultra sun, if anything I can wait until the next game. The only thing to do is online battles, and that gets old. Pokemon just became too easy.
Blame the fans when they criticized Gen5. Game freak put a lot of effort into Gen5 guess what? It didn’t sell well, when X,Y outsold Gen5 that’s when Gamefreak stop putting effort into Pokémon games. That’s why they’re so easy now

Ok as a radio the stumbled upon your video, I was agreeing with everything until you said the trio-legendaries from BW are terrible-that was a terrible take cuz different dual typing is FAR MORE superior to other trio legendaries ie Sinnoh. Side note, great video! I have been playing older games and taking notes and last challenge and fun I had was completing my first dex for BW, getting my ass handed to me in HGSS
Technically about the legendary thing is that I assume GameFreak’s shitty logic is that the ones not here are mythicals not legendaries but it is still really stupid.
Yeah, they are getting really lazy with newer Pokémon games... I enjoyed ORAS as well. That Deoxys fight was so awesome! They showed us they can make cool games,so why aren't they doing it anymore?
I just realized how visually boring Pokémon is when the P5R footage cut back to swsh footage, i knew the newer games looked bad, compared to almost every game on the market currently, (AAA and indie) Pokémon is just visually fucking barren.
This video has probably the longest Persona clips I've watched and... I dunno, the artstyle doesn't really do it for me. It's not _bad,_ it's just not my cup of tea. Guess I'm not gonna play that supposedly amazing game! :/
I dislike Legendaries for a different reason. After season 3, they stopped being special. There are too many of them. Back in Gen 1 and 2 you can play the game without encountering a single legendary except Suicune in Crystal. And with RSE focusing on the legendaries I was fine with but later one they crammed legendaries in every dungeon and even force you to catch some. Worst are myphical Pokemon which there are so many of them and they are event exclusive most at the time. Why don't they demote them or stop making new ones?
You really shouldn't put the interesting stylized menus and layouts of P5R next to Pokémon its really really not fair to Persona to degrade it like that. Truth be told though I started my Pokémon journey with yellow and after tree treegate I firmly quit Pokémon. Temtem scratches the Pokémon style game and persona scratches the pretty much everything else itch.

Also the art style is gorgeous-
I agree, I use to love legendary pokémons, until they started to add too much, now they are just an easy mode button.
I agree, I like the thought of legendaries but I think they should be difficult ingame bosses unable to be caught. How is it legendary if everyone has them?
32:00-33:00: Its so sad he's amazed by this, even
though this is so totally natural and simple.
Finally someone mentions the map...
I was actually SUPER upset when it was the day the DLC came out and I went around excited for new clothes
to find out there...really wasn't any.
My favourite thing about crown tundra :
Peony's reaction at 42:36.
This whole review I'm thinking of my boy Radiohead the Obstagoon. One of the best new pokemon and killer of half Leon's team.

Everyone already complimented you on the thorough critique, so i'm just gonna say nice tshirt :) radiohead is my favourite band
about the moltres encounter.
Ok, but grammar?

Easy set up for a negative in the galatian star tournament: you can be overly leveled and hold six while everyone else got three and no player character team ups.
Also hated that there was no b=running shoes button. And the fact that they didnt add a hard mode or let you turn off exp share.
Imagine if the team making Zelda games helped in making a Pokémon.
Idk how the hell you dont have atleast 100k subs man
One of the most underated channels

Still waiting on a new evolution to this day rippppppp
Can you elaborate why galarian and alolan forms are bad
@@ihaventshoweredin7weeksbut792 personally I think they could've made all new pokemon instead of replicating existing ones. I dont think we needed 3 different meowths, diglett with hair or giraffe exeggcutor.

Pokémon's world simply isn't interactive. That's the word you may have been looking for. You can only talk to people and fight Pokémon. In a huge world that you can't touch. Imagine wandering through a big store where most shelves are empty and you can only buy pasta and soda.
I like how he compares it to PlayStation games as well. Just give up on Pokémon. I gave up after Crown Tundra.

Can't call it open-world if it doesn't even qualify as that. To do so insults actual open-world games.
you aren't even wrong.

That’s why they’re so easy now
@@MrBGP006 the worst part is, People didnt like Gen 5 because some designs looked stupid (they arent even that bad) and partially because the main game had only new mons
Ok your criticism isn't invalid of course, I agree. But like, legendaries are absolutely part of the meta and able to be used competitive.
I’m pretty sure it actually was every legendary...
They got rid off the mythicals!
Well you can take it to the Uber tier

Ok as a radio the stumbled upon your video, I was agreeing with everything until you said the trio-legendaries from BW are terrible-that was a terrible take cuz different dual typing is FAR MORE superior to other trio legendaries ie Sinnoh. Side note, great video! I have been playing older games and taking notes and last challenge and fun I had was completing my first dex for BW, getting my ass handed to me in HGSS
Technically about the legendary thing is that I assume GameFreak’s shitty logic is that the ones not here are mythicals not legendaries but it is still really stupid.

A POKÉMON game WIth a FUCKING DLC That’s all I need to know Jesus Christ. WHat has happened Nintendo?
I Hella love ur opinions lol
Yeah, they are getting really lazy with newer Pokémon games... I enjoyed ORAS as well. That Deoxys fight was so awesome! They showed us they can make cool games,so why aren't they doing it anymore?
I'm in to be a voice actor
I just realized how visually boring Pokémon is when the P5R footage cut back to swsh footage, i knew the newer games looked bad, compared to almost every game on the market currently, (AAA and indie) Pokémon is just visually fucking barren.
Dynamax Adventures SUXX even with friends lmao
