Damn dude, I really like Lord Pumpkin. And I don't mean on a superficial level either, I actually thoroughly enjoyed his story. I LOVE everything about him, his design, his personality and his story. I actually really want Lord Pumpkin to be a mainstay in the Marvel universe. Maybe they can reboot him into an anti-hero with his own series, he's just too damn good to ignore!
I like Lord Pumpkins style. I wish he'd come back full-time as a Dr Strange Rogue. Sludge could be one of his Henchman, a victim of circumstances but not really evil, but bound to a dark master. I think Lord Pumpkin being mostly evil but having a soft spot for Children would be a nice way to add a level of depth to him outside of just being an evil Spirit and Wizard.
Yeah, him having a soft spot for children would be nice to add depth to the character and maybe imagine him threaten any drug dealers when any of them would ever sell drugs to kids, that would be interesting to see.
Hey Mr. Rogues. Just wanted to say thanks for giving the Ultraverse some love. If you're curious about what happened to poor Kenny, his fate is found in Giant Size Warstrike #1, Prelude to Godwheel. Long story short, the seed he ate slowly transforms Kenny's body into a new form for Lord Pumpkin.
The character has potential, I think that killing the little girl was kind of out of character but I can see him return, by the way, we need a Lord Pumpkin vs Straw Man crossover
With all the forgotten supervillains, I would not be surprised if Rogues made a list of the best forgotten villains (in his opinion). I love Clayface 3, corrosive man and Stirk just as much as Lord Pumpkin. One day, I really want to see all these villains return. At least once.
A bunch of other people already told Rogues about Madman. He said he might do him at some point. Honestly I agree with what Rogues said in this video. I’m getting tired of constantly hearing about random forgotten or obscure characters. Some of them are genuinely cool but the vast majority of them are kind of pointless and whether or not they existed wouldn’t change anything. It makes me feel like Marvel and DC has way too many characters and that it is inevitable that many of them won’t get a chance to shine. I hope that next year Rogues will start to talk about more big Marvel and DC villains. These are the guys that have a ton of good stories, complex characterizations, and accomplishments. I’ve been waiting for that ever since he became Mr. Rogues although I understand if it’s too much work. I do think it would be cool to see Rogues’ top forgotten characters. Maybe he could do it if he ever decides to conclude his forgotten characters series
Actually, we do learn what happened after the circus in Warstrike: Prelude to Godwheel. Kenny was taken in by a nun as he began transforming into Lord Pumpkin. He changed completely when Warstrike tried to use his healing powers on the kid, and from there they went to Godwheel.
"Have Tim Burton direct it and let Johnny Depp do the voice of Pump. Come on, it would be perfect." ...Well...then I guess we could say Tim Burton has TWO pumpkin kings under his belt. XD Personally, I would like to see Lord Pumpkin, and maybe a couple of other Ultra characters, in an animated movie. Marvel has done a few of them, and since I doubt a live-action film would turn a major profit, personally, an animated adaptation for the fans might be the best way to go. Speaking of, I REALLY need to look up the Ultraforce cartoon show now, for a VERY specific reason: apparently, one of my all-time favorite voice actors - Roger L. Jackson - played Lord Pumpkin in the show. And if you don't recognize that name: he's the voice of Ghostface in all four Scream movies. The guy on the phone? Yeah, that's always him. He's also known for voicing several characters in the American McGee's Alice games, including the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, and the Jabberwock. So...yeah. I now feel OBLIGATED to look up the series, and I think I'll do so RIGHT. NOW. Because Ghostface/Cheshire as Lord Pumpkin? THAT MUST NOT GO UNSEEN BY MINE EYES. UPDATE: I was misinformed. Jackson was NOT the voice of Lord Pumpkin. Pump was APPARENTLY played by Don Francks, the same guy who voiced Dr. Claw in Inspector Gadget, and was also the voice of Boba Fett in the little known show "Star Wars: Droids." (pauses) Still good! :D
Well, the entire series is up on UA-cam, in one single video ;) I've heard it's supposed to be pretty corny though, so don't expect too much out of it :P I also read that Pump appears in only two episodes... anyway, have fun with it! Do tell later what you thought of it, too.
I actually watched Lord Pumpkin's episodes today. I haven't checked out the rest of the show yet, and I'm not entirely sure if I will. It's...okay, I guess? Lord Pumpkin and his crew are easily the most memorable and fun characters in the episodes in question; the rest aren't BAD, per say, but they aren't especially interesting, either. Of course, that could POSSIBLY be just because I haven't read the comics yet for any of the Ultra Verse, since - just based on what you've said here - a lot of it SEEMS to follow the comics relatively closely, with a few minor alterations. The stories are a little wonky (but it sounds like that was an issue with the Ultra Verse in general), and the animation is good, but not especially outstanding. I'd say I'm glad I saw them, and I'll definitely be checking out at least the scenes with Pump and his gang again, but I'm not sure how well the rest of it holds up. I haven't read the comics yet, but just based on the cartoon and everything you said, I'm tempted to agree and say already that Pump might be one of my new favorite supervillains. If I ever do another 12 Underrated Supervillains List, he'd probably be in the top five...but of course, it's probably best I read the stories first before I make up my mind there. Plus I'm still on the fence about the list for a few reasons.
@@mr.rogues4145 I'd cast Dwight Schultz to play him in a gritty, Marvel Netflix style Sludge TV show. Think he's a good fit. Great at playing theatrical, over the top characters. He voiced Professor Pyg in Arkham Knight.
I must admit, even as a die hard Marvelite, I do have to question Marvel's decision not to use the Ultraverse characters. It's the same deal with Miracleman (formerly known as Marvelman). They have these fan favourite characters just sitting around doing nothing. It's not like they've never utilised characters they've acquired from elsewhere before either. There was a time when Marvel owned the comic rights to Transformers, GI Joe, Doctor Who and Rom Spaceknight, all of whom were fully integrated into the Marvel universe and therefore could AND DID crossover with Marvel characters (a lot of people tend to leave out the time Spider-man fought Megatron when discussing his symbiote wearing days... look it up, it happened). The only reason they don't appear now is because the licenses ran out. But they still do it for other characters they get they acquire. While there still hasn't been a Star Wars crossover, legally they can do one. And Angela, a character originally owned by Image, is about as integrated into the Marvel Universe as one can get. Upon falling out of a dimensional portal, she becomes best friends with Gamora, joins the Guardians of the Galaxy and finds out she's Thor's sister before becoming the queen of one of the Nine Realms. All the Ultraverse got was a few small crossovers and all Miracleman got is a reprint of his most popular series.... That's it.
If marvel did use them, it would be done poorly. They can't even write their own characters well, so I doubt that they will treat the ultraverse cast with any respect.
The problem is most of the Ultraverse characters are way too 90's to work today, most are very...of their time. With that being said some Ultraverse characters could work today, in my opinion those characters are: Sludge, Ghoul, Topaz, Nightman, Lord Pumpkin, and Mantra. While Prime could work with a major redesign the character seems a little too much like Shazam, just with Mad-Science instead of magic. Rune could also work if used correctly, although there could be some overlap with Sauron. As for the Angela situation, she was created in a collaboration between Todd MacFarlane and Neil Gaiman meaning both had half-ownership of the character. The problem was that MacFarlane kept using her without consulting OR PAYING Gaiman in media other than comic. This came to a head during the broadcast of Spawn the Animated Series on HBO at this time Gaiman had enough and took MacFarlane to court for unpaid royalties, as part of the settlement Gaiman was allowed to sell off the character to a third-party and claim the revenue instead of unpaid royalties, rumor was that Gaiman sold her to Marvel just to really piss off MacFarlane due to his history with the company.
I like marvel (classic marvel, not modern marvel), but I am also a big dc comics fan, though I am sick and tired of dc pushing bat man and neglecting their other heroes.
Sludge remains one of my all time favorite comic book characters and I loved what they were slowly setting up between him and Lord Pump. What a shame Marvel threw that entire universe of characters away
i love Lord Pumpkin. he's such a strange character with a very unique backstory that's so stylized and as you said, has a very Burton-esque feel. i just wish Marvel would actually do something with him and Sludge. I would totally watch a movie about Pump.
Awesome overview as always! Although, I wouldn't say a movie featuring ultraverse characters would be "impossible"; with the titan Marvel has become thanks (or no thanks) to Disney, it wouldn't be surprising that they got people dedicated to sleuth for retrospectives such as yours to get ideas for new movies.
Maybe for an underated rouges video you could do Hydro Man? I know he was featured in the spiderman animated series and ultimate spiderman, but I feel like he's overshadowed by his superior counterpart: Sandman.
really the Ultraverse must back someday, of course including Lord Pumpkin, what in turn is his most representative and notorious villain, so creepy and powerful, a evolutive evil with many layers: king, tyrant, sorcerer, gangster and many more, really deserve his own movie in the remote case, of the future existence of a hypotetical ''Ultraverse cinematic universe'', but another detail is Mr Mischief (3:04), i think that he is secretly the true ultimate villain in Malibu Comics, likely the most powerful of all, and he wants stop forever the godwheel, or simply cause chaos in any of his realms, perhaps is a servant of a greatest evil (thus probably exist many like him), or avatar of that supposedly evil entity, he only ''helped'' Arielle and Lord Pumpkin kill each other, in ''equal footing'', for his own sadistic pleasure, is a very manipulative being, many stories about him would be cool too.
In my opinion I see the Lord Pumpkin like this: a guy with Jack skeleton's body and oogie boogie's personality, but also has some jack skeleton personality in it too, (And just so we're clear he made his first appearance in 1993 the same year the nightmare before Christmas was released) Awsome character!!!
Pumped up kicks. Not many actors will play a character evil enough to talk a child into swallowing his seed. Sam Rockwell's done that, so maybe he can do it.

If Marvel were smart Lord Pumpkin would be a great Rogue for Spider Man Noire! It would be a great graphic novel! I would say how about a list of the top pumpkin headed villains in comics but I can only come up with two Lord Pumpkin and Jack O' Lantern!
If not Johnny Depp then maybe Chris Sarandon aka the voice of Jack Skellington. Now that I think about it a cinematic version of this character might look something like the scarecrow in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.
He does seem more of a fit for DC than Marvel somehow. I don't know about the rest of the Ultraverse, but if Malibu had been bought by DC instead I'm guessing this guy at least would have gotten a lot of use.
To me him and Sludge and him scream DC, imagine Sludge, Tar Pit and Clay Face teaming up as a part of a revamped Sludge origin (in the part of his life where he acted like a villain), also replace the word “Ultra” with “Meta because they mean the same thing
For some reason my first instinct was to assume that this was a forgotten Batman villain. Was surprised to find out he is basically a Marvel character. Too bad Marvel doesn’t use Malibu characters for whatever reason. There is some potential in those characters. Like Lord Pumpkin could easily become a Ghost Rider antagonist or something. Such cool character.
Hey, dude, the first origin story of Lord Pumpkin appeared in the short lived Hero Magazine. It was written by Dan Danko and drawn by me. I think it came out before Lord Pumpkin #0. You should dig it up.
Wow, really cool to get a comment from an actual creator. And really? I didn't know that. Information about the Ultraverse is a bit scarce overall. Great job on designing Lord Pumpkin btw - one of the coolest comic book villain designs ever!
@@mr.rogues4145 Specifically it was in Hero Illustrated #8 February 1994. The story printed really dark so I was not happy with that and I can't remember if it was reprinted somewhere else. It may have been later.
He did it... that crazy son of a gun, he actually did it Edit: I very much agree with that Statement but besides Lord Pumpkin, I'd like to see more of the Ultraverse characters in Marvel. That is if they remember them. If Marvel was to make a movie, they should go the DC route and make it an animated film for fans. Is there any chance any other videos of the Ultraverse Characters on you're channel? They are definitely interesting and I believe qualify as forgotten characters. I didn't even knew they existed till you're Sludge Video. Also, Happy New Year
Yeah, if he was in the Marvel Universe, i could see him be a enemy to Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange and few other supernatural characters in the Marvel Universe.
Uhh so about what happened to Kenny... Rogues you missed some comics of him, there were some that explains what happened to Kenny... Basically the seed that Kenny ate slowly transformed him into Lord Pumpkin himself and he took over Kenny's body... Yeah pretty dark stuff...
It's a shame that Pistol lacked the faith of Linus, who was willing to wait forever for his Great Pumpkin to rise. As for who would play him in a film.... Maybe Jack Gleeson.
I think I know why Pump killed the girl. Remember that he promised to never leave her? Well, he had to leave behind the first two children he befriended. So, rather than disappoint her by abandoning her in another one of his "deaths", he instead killed her.
I really like Lord Pumpkin his look and overall story I'd love for Malibu to be rebooted or the characters at least given to maybe the likes of image comics I'd love to see more of Lord Pumpkin
I only want Marvel to incorporate the Malibu characters into their books because then that means Lord Pumpkin can be featured in the MCU, played by Jeffrey Combs. Who would he fight? Ghost Rider (Johnny Blaze).
Marvel completely forgot the Ultraverse. They were not even mentioned in the last Secret Wars. Apparently, according to Wikipedia, there was an agreement between the owners of Malibu Comics and Marvel, so maybe Marvel has to pay them if they use those characters, I think. Anyway, if I could I would do a comic where Lord Pumpkin now lives in the Marvel Universe. He managed to survive the collision of worlds and the restoration of the multiverse, only to be beheaded by the minor hero Devil-Slayer. However, his head managed to survive and was found by the daughter of Parker Robbins, The Hood. With his help he manages to recover his body and decides to take control of organized crime, while pretending to be the eccentric imaginary friend of the little girl. He meets the Earth 616's version of Frank Hoag and manipulates the circumstances to turn it into Sludge.
So with this being the last video of the year, I figured it would be a good chance to ask - who was the best comic book villain of 2018? For me, it would have to be Lord Drakkon from Boom Comics' Power Rangers series. The guy beat just about every Ranger team in existence and almost succeeded in rewriting reality.
It's always Two-Face, man, always Two-Face - even the years he doesn't appear. On a serious note, I can't really say - I haven't read enough new comics.

As long as you don't abandon the forgotten villain series l'm all for what ever you feel like!
If Marvel were smart Lord Pumpkin would be a great Rogue for Spider Man Noire! It would be a great graphic novel! I would say how about a list of the top pumpkin headed villains in comics but I can only come up with two Lord Pumpkin and Jack O' Lantern!
I agree ^^
If Marvel brought back Malibu comics as an imprint I would buy every title.
Have an awesome new year Mr.Rogues!
Lord Pumpkin for Doctor Strange 2! Charles Dance voices
Pumpkin has a very interesting backstory and character. It would be great if he got some big exposure.
Could you do an underrated rogues video on The Calculator?
Thank You for this delightful nostalgia piece. Will definitely check out your other videos. 😊😁
If not Johnny Depp then maybe Chris Sarandon aka the voice of Jack Skellington.
Now that I think about it a cinematic version of this character might look something like the scarecrow in Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow.
Love the look of Lord pumpkin
Anyone who wants this guy to be in the DC universe?
He does seem more of a fit for DC than Marvel somehow. I don't know about the rest of the Ultraverse, but if Malibu had been bought by DC instead I'm guessing this guy at least would have gotten a lot of use.
To me him and Sludge and him scream DC, imagine Sludge, Tar Pit and Clay Face teaming up as a part of a revamped Sludge origin (in the part of his life where he acted like a villain), also replace the word “Ultra” with “Meta because they mean the same thing
Malibu Comics owns Lord Pumpkin which was bought under by Marvel Comics. Marvel owns this character.
Agree! I would love to see him as a rogue for Batman Beyond!
@The 8Ball because most other companies are bought by Marvel or DC and the other one's just aren't that interesting.
So glad the complete history series is returning.
Oh, it never really went away, they're just so much work I like to push them up indefinately... ;)
Great video, Mr. Rogues; hope this won't be the last!
Marvel doesn't deserve pumpkin man is way too good villain
For some reason my first instinct was to assume that this was a forgotten Batman villain. Was surprised to find out he is basically a Marvel character. Too bad Marvel doesn’t use Malibu characters for whatever reason. There is some potential in those characters. Like Lord Pumpkin could easily become a Ghost Rider antagonist or something. Such cool character.
Absolutely. Bring back the Pumpkin! As for Pistol? I dunno, any kid actors worth a damn?
Also pumpkins are fruit.
Happy new year buddy.
Such a good villain... too sad he was forgotten. So many development just going to waste.
indeed
Isnt he the same as Jack O lantern or Demogoblin?
Wonder what his favorite Charlie Brown movie is?
Happy New Years, Mr Rogues.
Happy new year!
Happy New Year!!! :D
No matter what, I'll be happy to see any of your videos!
Happy new year, and thanks!
@@mr.rogues4145
:D
He did it... that crazy son of a gun, he actually did it
Edit: I very much agree with that Statement but besides Lord Pumpkin, I'd like to see more of the Ultraverse characters in Marvel.
Also, Happy New Year
Happy new years mister rogues !!!!!
It resembles Jack O'Lantern too much. Either way, great video!
This is awesome!!
Sick video bro 💯
Loved him in ultra force cartoon
Yeah, if he was in the Marvel Universe, i could see him be a enemy to Ghost Rider, Dr. Strange and few other supernatural characters in the Marvel Universe.
Happy New Year, see you in 2019.
Happy new year, and be well!
Uhh so about what happened to Kenny... Rogues you missed some comics of him, there were some that explains what happened to Kenny... Basically the seed that Kenny ate slowly transformed him into Lord Pumpkin himself and he took over Kenny's body... Yeah pretty dark stuff...
I’m all for Lord Pumpkin returning
Here are a few ideas for future videos: Bloodscream (Marvel), The Spacemen (Marvel), Magpie (DC), Riot (DC).
Happy New Year rogues! Here's hoping you cam "Pump" out way more videos in 2019!
Happy new year! haha indeed.
Nail it !
just the phrase "marvel owns.." make you wanna gag
It's a shame that Pistol lacked the faith of Linus, who was willing to wait forever for his Great Pumpkin to rise.
As for who would play him in a film.... Maybe Jack Gleeson.
fuck yeah I love lord pump
I think I know why Pump killed the girl. Remember that he promised to never leave her? Well, he had to leave behind the first two children he befriended. So, rather than disappoint her by abandoning her in another one of his "deaths", he instead killed her.
I really like Lord Pumpkin his look and overall story I'd love for Malibu to be rebooted or the characters at least given to maybe the likes of image comics I'd love to see more of Lord Pumpkin
Please review kings of fear, (as soon as it is complete)
I think after you do the penguin video you should do an underated villain Video on the mole man he's a marvel villain
Excited for penguin. He is my favorite recurring DC villain.
MANƐSHARK so is mine
their should be a pumpkin boys coming c with jack-o-lantern and Lord pumpkin v as the villains with spiderman as the hero to boost pumps popularite
I wonder if you do a spiderman underrated/obscure villian Mr.Negative or The Swarm
Nice video ^^ and Happy New Year ^^
Thanks, and happy new year!
@@mr.rogues4145 You're welcome and Thank you ^^
I like Lord pumps act his design and his origin he should be one of Thor's rogues and made sludge a hero and a friend of hulks
Would love if Danny Elfman voiced Lord Pumpkin
Great villan
Happy New year Everyone
Happy New Year Rogues!
Happy new year, Josiah!
Awesome vid but how did u get the comic series
As he's in the Marvelverse..Lord Pumpkin teams with Jack o lantern vs Spiderman and Doctor Strange.
Yo where u been folks
can you do the Jester Underrated Rogues
Maybe Lord Pumpkin, could team up with the Snowmen from Space.
No, Marvel would sue.
3:39 The scene Makes me think of The Dr Seuss Book the Lorax when the Once-ler gave The boy Who Visit him a Seed to take Imagine that with The scene with the Words from The Lorax book📙📙📙📙📙📙📙📙📙📙
This villain seems pretty cool
Reminds me of Jack Pumpkinhead
Jack O'Lantern from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy?
@@damianprock1650 Jack Pumpkinhead is a charcter from Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz's sequal Ozma of Oz whos a talking pumpkinhead man
@@jmann6130 I suppose so, but there's also Jack O'Lantern from the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, who always pulled pranks and has a vendetta against Grim for cutting his head off, he's even an enemy of Spider-Man's
