And once he fails he can completely breakdown as his one way to get out of the cycle of violence was denied him.
Love when you cover the ultimate universe. as i late arriver to comics its the only thing ive felt ive been able to fully follow. also an appearance of the GOAT Sal from comic pop
Owen, comic pop, Alex, and Smokey’s video has kept my strong love for the ultimate universe alive… I remember it felt like a few of us who loved it but it seems like everyone loves it, and it’s back!
Ultimate Deadpool appeared as a boss fight in the Spider-Man shattered dimensions video game. It's never confirmed if it's the same guy from the comic book run, and the version has more in common with his 616 counterpart in terms of powers and overall demeanor.
In Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, Deadpool is a boss in one of the Ultimate Spider-Man missions. Deadpool has “gone insane,” causing his personality to better reflect his main canon counterpart
Hey, Ultimate Deadpool was used one more time. In Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. He's essentially his 616 version, only now he has a small militia that runs a television show just like his 1616 version. It also gave us Nolan North in the role for the first time, so hey, Ultimate Deadpool did something right.
Wow, I had either forgotten or didn't know about a lot of these. It's pretty amazing how little was done with the Ultimate versions of some of Marvel's best loved characters.
i would argue ultimate red skull going so brutal makes sense. when the chance to completely change everything, a single magic wish, would a monster go even harder? after all, it's all getting erased anyway.
Actually the best appearance we had from Ultimate Deadpool was as a stage villain in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. His level was the most entertaining one and he actually acted more like his 616 counterpart. And of course, fantastic performance by Nolan North. The boggest impact that Ultimate Captain Marvel had, was the fact in animated series Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Captain Marvel design was heavily based on Ultimate variant.
I like the idea of Ultimate Thanos being way more in line with Darkseid, but man both in personality and appearance just looks nothing like Thanos, at least make him purple so he's the slightest bit recognizable.
I am a huge 1610 shill, so I always get a kick when it gets talked about, even if it's not super positive. I can't pretend that all of the reinventions were great, and the stories they are within are super hit or miss, but I do love more than I don't. Which really sums up my thoughts on the UU as a whole.
Gonna be that guy. Reed didn't trap Thanos in a time loop in the Cosmic Cube. He removed a safety mechanism in the Cube that prevented it from granting subconscious wishes. Since Thanos's greatest subconscious wish was to permanently become one with death, the Cube granted his wish by killing him. Then Reed opened a time warp to the past to give Thanos the Cube thousands of years in the past, creating a closed time loop and explaining the origin of the original Cube Thanos used.
Mostly cause her entire purpose was to be a damsel bargaining chip for Fury to have a leash on the Hulk. Which you really didn't need to make her She-Hulk for that purpose...
Minor note Ronan is Thanos son in the 1610 universe and resembles Steppenwolf too. And in Hulk vs Wolverine, Jen Walters sells the Hulk serum and found out by Fury to be asking for a copy of the reboot of Star Trek, written at the time by Lindelof and JJ Abrams in a ha ha moment of deprecation.
A bit late to this, but great work Owen! I find it fascinating how, as impactful as it was through it’s 21st century reinvention of characters like Spider-Man or the Avengers/Ultimates, the original Ultimate Marvel Universe had its fair share of updates that just didn’t land the way they should’ve.
Lol! Your making me feel old.😆 I always enjoyed the twist of Ultimate Cable, it was a good surprise and you get the fun of normal Cable without the complicated history that comes with him. Honestly, a lot of the Ultimate line can be summed up as "wasted potential". The vibe that I got back in the day was that they had some kind of plan but it either kept falling short or never materialized(like Bryan Singer was supposed the write a big story arc for Ultimate X-men but directing conflicts made it never happened). Also didn't help that it felt at times like the ones in charge didn't care as long as nothing messed with whatever the big names had planned. Which just leads to a lot of cool ideas and characters with nowhere to go.
Dude, just found you out TODAY and this was my first video of yours. Your explanations and in-depth knowledge is BEAUTIFUL and I am regretful I haven't heard of you earlier. Keep up the AMAZING work yo! You earned yourself a new subscriber!
I know he’s not as big of a character. But it’s worth mentioning, Pyro got fucked in the Ultimate Universe for no reason. I really enjoyed his progression in the X-Men just being a dude with burn scars that wanted a place to belong. Then out of nowhere the last time you see him is in Ultimatum and he’s all of a sudden a Brother of Mutants member and a sex offender who then immediately is killed off. No indication is given as to why he joined the brotherhood and had a huge character change. I know it’s really just because the writer didn’t know how Pyro fit into the Ultimate universe continuity. But that was pretty unfair.
Jimmy Hudson was definitely a cool legacy hero being the son of Wolverine. Having organic coating metal for his claws added a nice touch to his mutation.
I really love Ultimate Deadpool's costume and his more serious portrayal, while still being a motor mouth psycho. I wish he'd appeared more often and gotten some character development. Classic Deadpool is a cool, but I wish he wasn't quite so ridiculous.
ultimates apocalypse Shouldn't even exist in the Earth's 1610 continuity due to how thee mutants came into existence That being a pathogen that was created from Wolverines dna that was then put into the water supply by a Canadian government meaning it's completely impossible for some one like apocalypse to exist since Mutants didn't show up in the ultimate universe until after those experiments on Wolverine occurred
Wow. Great video and thanks. A lot of these characters retakes are pretty interesting but some were not executed all that well. Cable looks to be the coolest from this list. I've been delving into the Ultimate Universe as Marvel releases them in omnibus form. I am really enjoying it. Ultimate Spider-Man is quickly crawling into my top 10 runs of all time. The Ultimates By Millar And Hitch is some thought provoking and crazy stuff. Hickman is solid as per usual. I really liked Ultimate X-Men By Millar but I think it got better with Bendis, Vaughn, and I'm halfway through Kirkman's stuff. That take on The Vision almost seems more in tune with the Silver Surfer. Alien being comes to Earth, has ties to Gah Lak Tus, finds it's humanity. I also really liked those minis by Bendis and Sandoval that told the downfall of Reed. I'm excited to keep reading this stuff. And then there's the new Ultimate Universe kickstarted by Hickman. Haha. Take care and peace.
Thanks Owen been looking forward to this one. Im honestly not surprised the Ultimate Universe was so popular at times but it does seem like they dropped the ball on the majority of stuff and a lot of good ideas! Im starting to collect Ultimate Universe Omnibuses now and after this I’ve been visually drawn into a few more. Ultimate Deadpools look is clean! Ultimate Thanos with a bit more of a Darkseid-esque look and motive is interesting but with Black Suit Reed Richards by his side that has got me! Even Cable it’s like more of a What If Wolverine & The Phoenix got married not Cyclops so that works for me. Another Visual is Charles Xavier in the Onslaught inspired suit & what I assume was Wolverine/Cable next to him in the X-face suit. I’ve been following the new Ultimate relaunch closely so far and exited for what’s to come!
From all forgotten Ultimate Marvel heroes I found Modi the most interesting! Son of Thor and Hela that was destined for greatness, yet lost everything after second fall of Asgard and got trapped for thousands of years inside World Tree, becoming just as crazy and wicked as his uncle Loki once was. All he ever desired is to return his birth right as heir of God's kingdom by recreating it on Earth, but was denied and ultimately killed by the hands of his own father...
I picked up Ultimate Adventures and I still have a soft spot for it. The delays killed its momentum for sure, but I always wanted him to come back. Always surprised when someone remembers this mini
One version for the characters i was really hoping you were gonna take about is ultimate Ben Reily, kinda mad on how made him but i feel bad fod the character in the same time
Ultimate Deadpool did get a bit of a redemption in the Spider-Man Shattered Dimensional video game where his level is actually considered to be one of the best in the game. Though it's quite clear that they did change him a up a bit to be more in line with his 616 counterpart.
We NEED some sort of part 2 to this video. It’s kind of surprising how little of the marvel universe the ultimate universe actually touched. There’s no real Luke cage, iron first appears like twice, task master is meh, the list goes onnn
I grew up loving the Ultimate Universe because of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, The Ultimates, Ultimates Fantastic Four, and Ultimate X-Men. But the characters that were easily forgotten such as Ultimate Deadpool, Ultimate Thanos, Ultimate Hawk Owl and Woody, Ultimate She-Hulk and Ultimate Red Skull should've gotten more stories in the Ultimate Universe. Not only that, other characters such as Ultimate Blade, Ultimate Spider-Woman, Jimmy Hudson, Ultimate DareDevil, Ultimate Punisher, Ultimate Ghost Rider, and Ultimate Doctor Strange should've had standalone stories instead of just being Killed off or shoved aside I love the Ultimate Universe, but these forgotten characters should've been taken more seriously. And I want that to happen in the new Ultimate Universe.
Could you do a video on Jonathan Hickman's tenure at Marvel? I feel like the man has done so much crazy stuff, it warrants a video. Especially the recent X-Men stuff and why he left that.

Dan Ketch as Machine Man was an interesting choice in the Ulti-verse
Honestly I could see a more compelling version of red skull where he believes that anything is justified if he can get his hands on the cosmic cube. Like he was banking on creating a world where he has a family and he’d never become a monster. He can do heinous things cause it’d all be erased. And once he fails he can completely breakdown as his one way to get out of the cycle of violence was denied him.
i mess with this heavy you should write a fan fiction or outsource to someone who can 🔥🔥
Love when you cover the ultimate universe. as i late arriver to comics its the only thing ive felt ive been able to fully follow. also an appearance of the GOAT Sal from comic pop
Nolan North first voiced Deadpool in Hulk Vs.
Ultimate Deadpool also appeared in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions with a TV show called Pain Factor but was written more like his 616 counterpart
This is the first time I ever heard that Marvel really wanted to make a Batman like for the Ultimate Universe, like what were they thinking?! 😅
Ultimate Vision was my favorite amongst these characters. Its unfortunate that she was wasnt used much at all.
Wow, I had either forgotten or didn't know about a lot of these. It's pretty amazing how little was done with the Ultimate versions of some of Marvel's best loved characters.
Having missed the Hulk Vs Wolverine mini series. I had no idea Ultimate She-Hulk existed at all.
i would argue ultimate red skull going so brutal makes sense. when the chance to completely change everything, a single magic wish, would a monster go even harder? after all, it's all getting erased anyway.
Im loving Jonathan Hickmans Ultimate Spider-Man comics and im liking peach momokos Ultimate X-Men comic right now
I like the idea of Ultimate Thanos being way more in line with Darkseid, but man both in personality and appearance just looks nothing like Thanos, at least make him purple so he's the slightest bit recognizable.
Ultimate Captain Marvels suit is sick as FUCK. I love it.
I’ve read Ultimate Wolverine vs Hulk and I still forgot She-Hulk was in the ultimate Universe
Mostly cause her entire purpose was to be a damsel bargaining chip for Fury to have a leash on the Hulk. Which you really didn't need to make her She-Hulk for that purpose...
Ultimate Captain Marvel is one of my favorite designs ever. Love how it takes the original design and thrusts it in a new, ultra "modern" direction.
This is my favorite comic channel. Love the subjects chosen, the chill music, and editing.
Thank you so much!
Would love a sequel video for more forgotten Ultimate characters
Minor note
Ronan is Thanos son in the 1610 universe and resembles Steppenwolf too. And in Hulk vs Wolverine, Jen Walters sells the Hulk serum and found out by Fury to be asking for a copy of the reboot of Star Trek, written at the time by Lindelof and JJ Abrams in a ha ha moment of deprecation.
Ultimate Deadpool appeared in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions.
Ultimate Mar-Vell has my favorite look of Captain Marvel.
the ultimate marvel Captain Marvel inspired the Earth's Mightiest Heroes one.
The best moment when reading any ultimate comic was to see the redesigns
Pasqual Ferry art on the Ultimate FF was so good.
So glad you’re branching out!
Sal is the man.
Should do a sequel video to talk about the ultimate version of spider woman & firestar
Style over substance feels like the execution for a lot of these different takes.
It would be cool if HawkOwl in the main Marvel universe is a comic book series that is 616’s version of the Batman franchise
surprised that ultimate kang wasn't mentioned
I think Ultimate Liz Allen deserved a mention.
Dude, just found you out TODAY and this was my first video of yours. Your explanations and in-depth knowledge is BEAUTIFUL and I am regretful I haven't heard of you earlier. Keep up the AMAZING work yo! You earned yourself a new subscriber!
Great video Owen! 💙
OLC, Comic Pop and Alex Lennen all in one video? Count me in.
Ultimate Adventure was wild.
I really love Ultimate Deadpool's costume and his more serious portrayal, while still being a motor mouth psycho. I wish he'd appeared more often and gotten some character development. Classic Deadpool is a cool, but I wish he wasn't quite so ridiculous.
Im surprised, Bombshell wasn't included in this.
ultimates apocalypse Shouldn't even exist in the Earth's 1610 continuity due to how thee mutants came into existence That being a pathogen that was created from Wolverines dna that was then put into the water supply by a Canadian government meaning it's completely impossible for some one like apocalypse to exist since Mutants didn't show up in the ultimate universe until after those experiments on Wolverine occurred
in the ultimate universe Apocalypse isn't even "real" he's just a 2nd personality of Mr Sinister (who thought that Apocalypse was real)
Silver surfer was a subordinate for Psycho man if i rmeember correctly. That was a fun change.
I love mahr vehls design
Ultimate Thanos is the version I picture when I think of thanos.
Ah, Rise and the fall of Vision.
Like you, I also got my first proper start in comics reading Ultimate, so how did I not know about Owlman?! Great video, as always!
Sal now has talked about that book 3 times on 3 different channels 😆 Sal is the reason I know about U-decide
I picked up Ultimate Adventures and I still have a soft spot for it. The delays killed its momentum for sure, but I always wanted him to come back. Always surprised when someone remembers this mini
Thanks for the link Sal!
One version for the characters i was really hoping you were gonna take about is ultimate Ben Reily, kinda mad on how made him but i feel bad fod the character in the same time
The unuse of Ultimate She-Hulk is criminal, she’s definitely majorly interesting I feel, far more interesting than Betty Ross as Red She-Hulk
This was DYNAMITE, Owen!!!
Great video! Found you a bit ago and have enjoyed watching them
Awesome, thank you!
Alex & Owen in one vid? Hell yeah brother.
Ultimate Deadpool did get a bit of a redemption in the Spider-Man Shattered Dimensional video game where his level is actually considered to be one of the best in the game. Though it's quite clear that they did change him a up a bit to be more in line with his 616 counterpart.
Amazing video! I hope we get a secon part!!!
"its ok Ultimate Thanos can't hurt you" 😰😰😰
Great video! I remembered the vision during the galactus saga. The ultimate books were very good for their time.
Wasted potential and wondering what could have been is always as interesting a discussion as what was or will be In my opinion. Great video
How come your Ultimate Iron Man video is not in your ultimate marvel Playlist
It is now! Thanks for the heads up, I must have missed that.
@OwenLikesComics thank you big fan of your work
Came here from comic Pop Love the video so far
3 goats of UA-cam comics, in one vid; get outtttaaaaa heeeeeeere!!!!!!
We NEED some sort of part 2 to this video. It’s kind of surprising how little of the marvel universe the ultimate universe actually touched. There’s no real Luke cage, iron first appears like twice, task master is meh, the list goes onnn
Mar-Vell's death was so touching that I think the MCU should never attempt to touch it
What happened to the first upload?
I grew up loving the Ultimate Universe because of the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, The Ultimates, Ultimates Fantastic Four, and Ultimate X-Men.
But the characters that were easily forgotten such as Ultimate Deadpool, Ultimate Thanos, Ultimate Hawk Owl and Woody, Ultimate She-Hulk and Ultimate Red Skull should've gotten more stories in the Ultimate Universe. Not only that, other characters such as Ultimate Blade, Ultimate Spider-Woman, Jimmy Hudson, Ultimate DareDevil, Ultimate Punisher, Ultimate Ghost Rider, and Ultimate Doctor Strange should've had standalone stories instead of just being Killed off or shoved aside
I love the Ultimate Universe, but these forgotten characters should've been taken more seriously. And I want that to happen in the new Ultimate Universe.
When it comes to Ultimate Deadpool, I guess it’s just whether or not you find Shattered Dimensions to be canon.
I love Ultimate Deadpool's mask design!

I feel like the fact that all for women in this shot are wearing crop tops says something about the Ultimate universe
That's more an early 2000s thing
Nope. The fact you think it says anything, says more about you, than anything.
@@stapuft It was a joke because the Ultimate comics are infamous for their edginess and attempts to appeal more towards teenagers, specifically boys
@@mttylerdurden9 Yeah that was my take on it lol
@@stapuftnope. That fact that you think it says anything about him says more about you than anything
Could you do a video on Jonathan Hickman's tenure at Marvel? I feel like the man has done so much crazy stuff, it warrants a video.
Especially the recent X-Men stuff and why he left that.
