Mower, Weibang 21" shaft drive, high lift blade, revs turned up. Best mower I have ever used. My other money maker is taking waste away, 7 by 5ft single axle trailer with mesh sides, get three or four smaller jobs in a day, each customer get charged for waste removal but you only make one trip to the dump. With rachet straps I have had 8 or more ton bags of waste in the trailer.
Boy am I happy I found your channel, like you I had to change course and looking for something different. I love gardening and helping people so this would be the ideal business for me. thank you again for all your tips and prices to charge, great respect for you and I wish you every happiness and success. Keith P.S Im watching all your video's and loving every minute of them.
I have sthil RM545VM and the RM545VR mowers only 17"cut but gets down all the narrow paths. Good mowers cut and bag well in the wet. Also just bought a 20" Wiebang for a village green that I've taken on.
Good video! I need to get better at advertising, it's just something I don't push as much as I probably should... In regards to mowers, all my mine are quite old and bought second hand but with a good service they're perfect for the jobs I do... One mower I'm glad I bought was the Flymo GT500 hover mower, it makes light work of banks and slopes, also quite good on overgrown lawns as it glides over and doesn't bog down easily
If I was you go for a second Etesia. Brand new a push mower is £1000 but for me is a great mower as it is the best mower for cutting in the rain plus lifting damp Grass. But a new mower with self drive as you get more lawns push a mower all day will make you tired and sore. When get a high budget then buy a mower with more gears as time is money
Thank goodness I Found your channel I am in 60. I am Hard-working Gardner a lot of good ideas around I I’ll leave me in The Southeast I never know how much the charge at the moment I charge £20 an hour with the Porsche the petrol or diesel where do you go without
I have a stihl rm655 vs its a good mower. Ive had izzys and they're not very good. If you really want to stay with Honda look along the lines of the 500 series. My stihl is fairly light and picks up in the wet. I have other types of mower, mostly stihl. I have tried weibang but very heavy.
As scary as it was, going self employed was the best thing for me. Have to say that without Lloyds bank lending me £10,000 to set up, I wouldn't have been able to do it! Worked for gardening companies in the past and it was the comments from clients that encouraged me to make that step! There is no better job than the one you love doing!!
Hi I am looking to start in march next year so all this information is great . Would you be able to do a video about tax and you paid and insurance etc because that would be very helpful Thanks
Will add to the list mate yeah no problem. Best of luck with it. You're doing right starting in March. Start to prepare and advertise from mid-late Feb I'd say. Any earlier and people probably wont take much notice as gardens aren't a priority at that time
Happy with my Hayter, a bit heavy so you need a ramp for getting it in and out of a vehicle, and Allett cylinder mower for nice lawns that you can charge extra for, higher maintenance costs on a cylinder. I have a regular paid job and do gardening part time. What van or vehicle do you use?
Don't have one yet but I'll be buying a petrol. Probably some sort of mid range £400 approx. I just think they will withstand more use and have more power
Real informative. Im working as a gardnber at the moment but for my boss. Do you charge $20 an hour for the grass cuts so 2 hours youd charge $40? Trying to figure out what im going to charge. Dont plan on selling myself cheap as the work i do at the moment is very pohysical
Hi there, I price per job rather than by the hour. That was you can earn more. So my minimum grass cut price is £20 and some lawns only take me 20 mins ish. If I was to give an hourly rate specifically it would be somewhere in the region of £30 perhaps as once your expenses are deducted you're left with a lot less
@@TheGreyGardener1990 Great thanks. So looking at around 200 pound per day and 100 half day? I dont plan to undersell myself as gardeners need a good wage too. I know my boss charges me out at 25 and another employer here charges 30. Great channel btw
Yeah, I'd say so. People do things differently obviously depending on how they run their business, but I'd say £200 is a good daily figure to aim for. I've done it a handful of times, regularly go £150+ and consider a £100 day on the poor side. Hope that helps

Thanks for commenting mate. Will check that out. Good point re waste too!
The music at the start of the video is pretty chill and fits the video really well
What do you think I can do to keep me ticking over through winter? Will hedges and shrubs get me through?

But if you Google public liability insurance, and read up on that, thats really what you need. Then you can add extras such as tool protection etc
Great video
Thanks Simon 👍

Chickens love them :)
Good advice mate. I’m thinking of getting some pressure washing jobs but don’t know if to get electric or petrol. Which jet wash do you have?
