I finally understand the mums saying "Clean your room, it's a tip." I have never known where that came from. Thank you from an American watcher!
You did what you could. No reason to feel bad.
Well done for not carrying on! It was way too far gone, that much loose tarmac could have either flown everywhere potentially damaging windows or cars etc not to mention damage your fsc. Well done for showing you not completing a job, some wouldn't show when a job goes south!
The initial brick looked quite nice. That small bit was a sleeper. Complete change of color when washed and a lot of Black Spot. An excellent improvement when done. Looks like the barn will clean well.
Thank you for showing the job that turned out to be "undoable". Now we have seen one that is too worn-out to be improvable. You tried hard. Cleaning up the brick wall and walk was still helpful. As someone said, the roof is in need of cleaning as well, so the owner hopefully realized they bought a place with major overhauls needed.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear
I love the stone & brick used in your country
Seems like it would make more sense to open the tip on Monday mornings so people can drop off waste from weekend projects
i agree ):
We have it open 7 days a week here in Italy thanks ti covid, even though Sunday is only half day.
I think it must depend on where you live in the UK. Ours (and all the nearby dumps) are open Monday to Sunday, and we live in East Cheshire in the UK. 🇬🇧
@@MsCheesemonster13 Definitely depends where we are - in Suffolk, they're open 6 days a week, closed Wednesdays. And they've left the booking system in place, which is good when you go there as it's not too busy, but also bad when you've not booked in and think "it would be handy to drop this stuff off at the dump"...
Here in Germany it's open 5 1/2 days of the week (Saturdays only until like 1pm, but I think it's also dependant on where you live). I would never go to the tip on a Saturday or a Monday, because then everyone else goes. It's so bad during Saturday that the traffic backs up all the way to the main street.
It helps that I can work from home most of the time, so I can go during the week when no one else is going. :D
The most important part of that office from a productivity standpoint is that closeable door (even when your kiddo is so cute!) :)
-someone who works from home
Loving the weather? After all the rain and gloom you give us a shot of your daughter happy as Larry which would brighten up anyone's day full stop. ......I'll say it again you lucky man.....good luck and keep the vids coming .....jules at midland roofseal roofcoatings west mids
I can imagine that was very frustrating, but if I were the homeowner I would rather be told than waste money getting it cleaned when it needed to be ripped up. I personally would still have paid some of the quote since you could have been doing another job and it isn’t your fault the driveway was a mess. The path and wall looked really nice! And your girls are adorable.
I think the owner knew he was going to have to rip it up. It was obvious from the start that the driveway was kaput, fini, done for, on its last legs, no more for this world...
Not your fault the whole drive was being held together by the moss and grass roots. Not your fault at all, Sid~
Well, the brick wall looked good! 👍🏻💙💙. The new homeowner needs their tile roof done too.🤷🏻♀️
As a grown child, I do indeed appreciate the 😝 she gave us 🤣
:D me too
Perfectly delivered raspberry!😁 Loved it!
@@kimberlypontow3497 totally 😆
Omg what a cute kid! It's really nice hearing how sweet and uplifting you are with her. It means so much to children to hear those kind words even if they can't fully understand
That cow shed is going to come up like a gooden😁
SHALOM 🔥
I think you can get hooks for the rails down the side of the unit to hang stuff on so it’s not all thrown in
just had the same myself last week, lightest pressure was tearing up the weathered tarmac, ended up using a load of old bac50 to see if it'll get rid of the moss....he's selling up so he ain't too bothered...like you I never charged 🙃
Little girl is sooo cute💖💖💖💖 both kiddos are cute❤💖
Sid is SUCH a tease!!! So I agree with your daughter... 🤪 Ha!!! Guess I will try to be patient for that barn building. LOL
Mentioned you on the drain unblocker site on UA-cam. He uses Augers to unclog drains he's in England also. Collaboration association buyers groups always good to know about. The way of business
Lovely little one's! Proud daddy ❤️
They make it hard to leave in the morning! So cute
@@PartridgeExteriorCleaningbut every time you do go out that door is for them, to give them every thing they need to grow up a happy live! 😊
Oh man. I felt this loss for you, bud. I know you wanted to do your best, but sometimes you just gotta cut* your losses. I hope they call you in the future to have their driveway done after it's been replaced ❤️
If i can add a second like i would! Hope you are well young Sid!
thank you i really appreciate it! you too!!
Well you can like the video and Sid's comment ^.^ just don't hit one an even number of times......
I hope the customer handled the bad news well. They are fortunate you are so forthright and honest.
Love your videos. While i'm in the US. Still enjoy watching the videos.
The fungi were common Inkcaps and ARE edible BEFORE they start to 'drip ink' Better to walk away rather than start power washing and then having the driveway break into pieces and become unusable - at least that is how I would feel! Maybe they will get you back in a few years when they have renewed the driveway and it then needs cleaned! I enjoy seeing the difference that your work makes on the huge variety of properties, and I am sure everybody is pleased with the results.
Good call man
Respect. You gotta know when to call it when it will just make things worse.
My driveway and some of the walks here in the Santa Clara Valley are nearly as bad. My parents - years ago - had the cracking concrete covered with a pebbly surface to make them last longer. Cleaning them was "interesting" with a lot of debris ending up in adjacent areas. I think you did the right thing in admitting that you were risking doing more harm had you continued.
Yes I had the same problem with my drive ,I was a bit disappointed as at first jklkkolszj jezbcbhrhhhhwhhh patak patacks
Hello Sid: I am with you on that driveway of concrete and tarmac. I hope that the customer realises that it is better to simply tear up the driveway and start all over again. It will look beautiful when it is redone.
Your daughter is a star!
I am a gardener the tool that is best for that driveway area is a strimmer with a medium soft line or just a very hard brush. Cover nearby windows and face away from vehicles as you work it will throw small stones. You could probably make a hood. It would clear the moss, vegetation and the top layer of soil, you can run over with a blower afterwards. You can't clean it too much the soil is holding it together. It will tidy it up at least, or you can use herbicide first in the Summer. You could treat the area to prevent moss regrowth afterwards, it is much cheaper than a new driveway.
I also have a rotary brush for the Stihl combi tool but it would probably damage that surface. The benefit is everything stays dry with the brush and strimmer so it is much easier to clean up. It's not ideal but it is quick, it would only take 5 mins. It looks like they got as cheap thin tarmac job done at some point. I use this technique on old paving brickwork with soft bricks and pointing, crazy paving with plants and herbs the homeowner wants to keep growing in etc. any uneven delicate surface that is too big to scrape or brush.
Put something in your t&c's like 'If we discover a surface does not have sufficient structural integrity during cleaning we will not continue work in that area until further discussion' to stop people being disappointed.
You did your best Sid, the customer can't ask for more than that. Daughter's are beautiful. Best wishes Christine x
Sid: "Can you say hello to Daddy's UA-cam subscribers?"
Daughter: _blows raspberry, giggles_
🤣🤣🤣
Customer grassesup Kev ha , only kidding😀
When I couldn't finish a job I would use my connections within the trades to recommend a company have a day love from TEXAS
You did what you had to do. We all know Sid you wouldn’t have walked away from that job if you didn’t have to. Your kids are lovely and funny. Can’t wait to see the next. Cheers for the video take care and hope you and your family and kev are doing well
Yep you said it Sid "you can't polish a turd " 🤣🤣👍
the mushroom is actually edible, when found early in a young state. It is Coprinus comatus, trivialname shaggy ink cap...
Think your mushrooms were Shaggy Ink Caps - edible, except not with alcohol ..... but like everything, unless you’re absolutely sure, don’t consume them!
Well, time to start "Partridge Plastering, Asphalt & Tarmac Service" 😁🔥💪
When he learns how to lay asphalt so he can come back to such a driveway
You could tell from the start that was gunna be rough
Honestly don't blame you for running
You can’t feel bad about the job Sid. The state of the tarmac and cement… were already in a bad state. So, you did the best with the circumstances, that’s what matters. Also, you have to look after your tools, if the bits coming off were to ruin/damage/destroy in any way, you’d have to pay for a repair/replacement. Hopefully the owners can get it all sorted.
Love your channel and all your videos. Could you do one on accepting payments when you first start out? I could use some advice on how to go about it. I'm glad the weather is changing. Love the cold. Cheers.
there are some things that just can't be done
I treat all mushrooms as poisonous, unless Atomic Shrimp says otherwise.
Her reaction is totally valid and applicable to most youtube subscribers. :D
Not worth damaging your equipment for that drive dude
You did the right thing awesome job on what you did do.
The quality of your work speaks for itself Sid. As for that driveway you did all that you could and more.
Those fungi are called Ink Caps, the liquid from the decaying fungi was used as ink. They are also called Judges Wigs, for obvious reasons as the outer skin starts curlying up which gives the appearance of a judges wig. They are edible providing they are picked and eaten while the flesh is white. Anyone reading this should do their own research though.
Let's see if we can break a whopping 5 likes on this video 😈
No but he knows how to do a good job
Idk man…sometimes I think you ask too much from us…😂
5k we wanting aye buddy
It's the effort that counts Sid 🙌 also your pc setup is looking niceee and clean ✔️
That tiny sneak peek was mean.lol. hope you get that job it will be awesome. As usual you are always top notch.
Your daughter with her cute little accent and pffft 😂 love it! Great office set up!! I hope the homeowners and your clients appreciate your honesty. Integrity is hard to come by these days so well done.
Crazy how you look at it and don’t see anything wrong and then you clean it and it’s like WOW that was dirty 😮
You have a beautiful home and family.
I am from Brasil!!!
Love vídeos ❤
Walked away from a job for the same reason about 2 months ago. Neighbor came out and spoke to me as he was leaving for work, told me his drive was the same age, but he uses tarmac restore paint on his every year for the cost of under £25 each year to self apply with a roller (laid in 1996). The difference is night and day. His looks brand new and the customers I was doing looked like it had taken a few grenades... I did similar by cleaning just the bits that were in good condition and his path to the house and accepted a nice brew as payment ♥ You are a good guy Sid ♥
Had a similar situation with a crumbling combination driveway.
Our solution that would work there too would be to curb the garden side of the drive way.
A few courses of bricks around a down spouts. Then order a load of gravel & back fit the lot!
Advantages:
- cheap and quick
- drains well
- never a problem with ice or snow
- added security as you always hear anyone skulking about on the drive or around the car.
You work so hard 😊
I always find yr vids so satisfying too watch buddy..
Looks like trying to power wash rubble.
Yes…we all do deserve your sweet daughter’s raspberries for something we hide inside!!💙❤️💜
Cold in UK, HOT in Texas. I'm impressed at how meticulous you are with each pressure washing job.
“Should I eat a poisonous mushroom 🍄 and see what happens” lol! Keep that funny sense of humor please.
First your daughter's response was perfectly adorable, love the computer set up
Also, just as much as we (you and your audience) love the cool amazing jobs we also need the less productive seemingly failure jobs too. It's how it goes and it's okay. Bob Ross says you need the dark to see the light, nearly every time he paints mountains and trees....😆
Idk if the UK ever heard of Bob Ross but it's the most peaceful and beautiful show to watch.
Anyways, great job, keep up the hard work, and don't worry about the likes, they will come. Excited for the next vid 🤪
Hope Kevin's shoulder and neck feels better, don't forget to stretch before work you guys, helps out a lot
Yes, we here in the UK know Bob Ross. We’re pretty civilised now, running water indoors, electric lights and flushing toilets as standard now 🤫
@@JulieWallis1963 🤣listen I didn't know how much a free public prodcasting show was aired overseas in the 70s and 80s. I didn't mean it as an insult to you
@Blondie every year, I love them
They're the calendars I always get
The mushrooms were shaggy ink caps! A good eating mushroom but you have to eat them quickly after harvesting as they deteriorate quickly after harvesting! always do your research though!
Man, I wish you did the re-paving of driveways and stuff. Would love to see that on the vids from you too, Sid! But I know that's not what you do, so 🤐.
Your little girl is absolutely adorable along with your baby boy . You absolutely deserve everything Good you get because you always do a Amazing job .
Great work once again sid 😉
I'd of been half tempted to ask you to just remove the loose tarmac if i was the customer. The old concrete might of been better than that tarmac (probably a cowboy job when it was done too)
You did the right thing and were very fair to do what was possible.
Ink Cap mushrooms, edible! Great vlog again Sid. 😊
all mushrooms are edible once.
@@sirBrouwer Indeed but Ink Caps are edible without death! ☠️
I love that your daughter told us hello that way! 😂 my daughter does THE SAME THING 😅 or dead looks you in the eyes and says “no” so flatly lol
I love that your storage is an old artic trailer!
The phrase 'trying to polish a turd' springs to mind with that last job.
That mushroom you saw is a Coprinus comatus. When they are young and still completely white, they are very eatable and taste good. They must be consumed as quickly as possible after plucking.
When they get black fringes and/or start to curl up, they become uneatable. The taste becomes bad to very bad, but they are not poisoned.
your kids are sooo adorable!! You said you were skinny. No. You are slender. lol Oh and the teaser was mean! haha. Can't wait to see that video! Don't feel bad about walking off this job. They really need to tear up that old concrete and repave it. You did the wall and it wasn't even part of the quote. Great job and carry on! Love your videos!
That concrete driveway.... Have you heard of a westerman, a big cylinder wire brush sweeper. Would have worked well on that 👍
Nice computer set up mate
Oh, thats why there is so much fly tipping there
Cowboy tarmac job ... 1" on top pf concrete not good. Sid, Its good youre honest with the client and explain more damage can be caused.
What a sweet little girl. She made me smile! You actually did a whole lot of work before you had to quit.
Where is the cow barn video that will make a great video
Well done to the excellent paint spray it looks very professional you should be proud. Great to see Mavarak helping out his mum x
Aww precious babies
Great video! ☺☺
8:26 its a shaggy inkcap(based on the bottom looking like its turning to a black liquid), they're actually safe to eat, just have to cook it first, but if they've already started to ink, they wont be nice to eat
ese camino estaba destruido, seria imposible limpiarlo sin destruirlo mas de lo que estaba... pero me quedo la duda.. que paso con el establo?? lo limpiaron?? van a limpiarlo mas adelante??
I thought you had warehouse space? Why a shipping container still?
What a beautiful little girl and boy you have. Bless them
Ink caps edible 😊
Your kids are gorgeous! What is it with u men and messy, sheds, garages etc 😂 my dads garage is a nightmare lol hes 80 next year. Never mind about that job it couldnt be helped driveway was crumbling away. Well done on the other ones 👍
I've never heard of a tip/garbage dump not being open on a Monday morning, as for the driveway you had to walk away from, well, I don't really blame you, that is good business sense because it would probably get damaged to the point that you would have to completely replace it out of your own pocket,
Can only do what you can do, hope the customer appreciated what you had done, and understood why you couldn't do finish the job as expected
“I’ll just blast all this pointing out!” What a bodger!
Great Job
What do you think about posting leaflets when first starting out??
One question - why you don't have blower and stock trimmer and first do the trimming the grass and weeds and blow it and only then you percede with wet jobs? Same question for large hall job full of leaves and dirt... it's just way easier to work with dry material than wet one...
