This is actually the best arrangement. From left to right in order Someone whos still in WoW thats getting tired of Blizzard’s shit Someone who dipped their toes in FF but is still in WoW Someone who left WoW and is enjoying what a dev who cares can bring to a game Their lineup is literally the perfect image of the whole situation
So i just started FFXIV like yesterday, and almost immediately i was in a town square and there was tons of people just sitting around with eachother, either rping to themselves (i assume in a group chat) or just whispering/party chatting eachother and /dancing and playing music and just chillin, it immediately felt more how to say, like a community chilling, chat wasnt bombarded with WTS WTB LFG, and i asked a question and was immediately met with a welcome, a friend request and a whisper telling me to message them if I had questions, i like the story but it definitely feels like a more healthy happy community, if I compared it, I would say it’s like wow is the sweaty who screams git gud and min maxes everything and ffxiv is the healthy community experience (edit: someone said to wait til i heard a bard playing real music in game, so i wanted to mention here that it’s happened a few times but the coolest one was not even in a main town, just a guy sitting on some stairs playing Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen, and i just sat down and listened for like 10 minutes, truly a community based game)
@@ddot196 God the first time I sat down for a concert in Limsa was, like, fuckin inspiring. I couldn't help but think "God damn, people in an MMO sit down to actually do this? This is awesome!"
Lol, don't worry, you'll find plenty of the elitists if you look at PF for extreme/savage fights. But you'll also have the "stfu you don't pay my sub" toxic casual crap from people who haven't figured out what an AoE rotation is, the BLM who wants to be a frost mage, etc.
@@Savashri I always hear this, but I've never actually encountered the "you don't pay my sub" type. I wanna specify, I'm not calling you a liar by any means, just something I thought was interesting. Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe Leviathan has notably fewer of those types of people.
Dude this was seriously entertaining. It usually is good, this was great. Watched all the way through. It’s probably because there’s so much positivity about the subject and Zepla was an awesome guest. I was subbed to her on YT, have to check out her twitch
I have played wow for 10 years switched 2 weeks ago to ff14 it feels like when i saw wow for the first time i am playing on the free trial but absolutely love it i have seen every episode of all craft and this is by far the most enjoyable episode hope to see more like this the look on asmon's face when zepla was talking about crafting was priceless
The biggest difference between FF14 and WoW is FF devs play their game, love their game, and are involved in the community they created. They listen to their players better then any dev team I've ever seen.
take your time, dont take all quests, just do mainstory quest and the blue ! ones that unlock stuff mostly. Story is pretty slow at the begin and combat aswell. Join the novice network, they help mostly alot. Also in every Inn there is a guy with a green sprout on the head, if u complete their arenas u get some pretty good early game gear and also a 30% exp ring up to lvl 30
@@maximal99334 do any quests that you want, really, even the side ones can be fun. But yeah, prioritize MSQ and the blue quests, and i hope you're not the crying type! :D
@@maximal99334 I have found that in some areas you get to, a few of the side quest will reward some armor. So when you get to a new location with side quests, at the very least check out what the rewards are. You might end up getting more than just XP and Gil. Have fun and I hope you enjoy!
Holy hell, this is entertaining. Watched short version, came to see the full one. Asmon and Zepla seem to be the great MMO-centric comedic duo: equal experiences, same interests, same wavelength but different charge. I see amazing potential for some of the best collabs in the future.
Well the crafting looks daunting at first but they introduce the new skills gradually, and once you get the hang of it for one job the others work the same. And up to level 60 at least (i am on a free trial so i can't speak for the higher levels) you don't need to craft anything, my first playthrugh i completely ignored it.
@@gusty9053 I like that all the jobs take it slow enough that you understand the in and out of everything you're doing before it adds anything else. It's nicely gradual.
@@gusty9053 Everquest II had a whack ass crafting system with failure if you didn't adequately do something at the right time, it was very skill based, at least when I saw it. Don't know if it has changed or not since then.
It was a therapy for Asmongold lol. "I know it's hard to accept that the current state of WoW isn't what it was back in the good times", "all it needs is to accept and let it go" Asmongold actually smiled, it was great (well who would not smile talking to someone with fluffy long ears ?) Congratulations for the way you convinced Asmongold to try the game and focus on having fun again.
And what kind of fun he has. Beating raids with random people on the highest difficulty, skipping nothing of the story content and also do fun stuff like Golden Saucer games. I don't remember seeing him that happy when playing WOW. Glad for him, glad for the community to support him. He definitely deserves it and also FFXIV will gain a lot from this, more attention and more player playing the game. It's a win win win for everybody, and feels great.
Blizzard should be sweating right now! I’m hoping they take look at FF success and use it to improve the game. No more contrived systems that no one wants that punishes people who don’t want to grind all day or chose a covenant based on what’s BIS vs what the player wants!
Blizz did look at ff stuff... But took the worst bits. There is thorgast as endless dungeon with buffs and so; meanwhile there is the deep du geon where you have 200 floprs with random generated map, traps and items to use (it's just a different way for lvl up stuff or for get a mount / few titles instead being ens game) Also in ff you can get the item you want from the raid for your bis slot after x amount of weeks with tomes, like you need a ring from the end game raid? After 4 week of no luck you can just buy it and there is no such rng like "will it get warforged or so?"
@@alessandroseverino8222 also the fairly regular Moogle treasure hunts where you can buy best tribe and raid mounts. I got my chonker Laurel Gobbu through them. Was saving the points for a Revelling Kamuy (sp?) but saw that big boy and just had to have him.
To all the new players, Welcome to Eorzea! I hope you get to play it on your own terms and maybe come to love our world. But I hope wow gets to a state yall enjoy again as well.
I only play WoW for the friends I've made along the way. I'm sure there are many like me playing for the same reason. I've had trouble getting into FC's the 2 times I've tried to play FF, but I'm trying one more time! haha
@@melissas4874 Well, I'd be amiss if I didn't try. If you're on Leviathan, I can add you to my FC. They're pretty chill and welcoming, no real standards except log in once every like fifteen days, or say something if you'll be gone for a while.
@@JamMasterJesus I'm not, but thanks anyway. I started a new character on a crystal server since I hear this center is more newbie friendly? But then I hear other negative things so who knows (and it's not balmung).
@@melissas4874 Ha, I was actually going to ask if it was Balmung. Tbh, I don't hear a lot of specific server stereotypes. All I've heard is about the ERP community all over Crystal (most rampant in Balmung and I think Mateus after that) and apparently a lot of US-based streamers are on Primal. But now that you mention it, I think I hjave heard that Crystal is the most newbie friendly world, but thankfully most of the game is like that. Regardless, I hope you have a good time in Eorzea!
@@melissas4874 there are a few Discords with FC recruitment channels. The Balance Discord is a good place to start and they have links to data centre specific Discord servers if I recall correctly. I just joined the first one I saw that seemed cool and everyone was welcoming and helpful.

This was soo much fun to watch! As a FF14 veteran I remember in Heavensward when that wave of WoW refugees that Zephla was a part of came through and getting so many ques for the first few dungeons in lvling roulette and helping them understand the mechanics of the game and letting them know the rotations get way more complex and also having a little chuckle when they would stand in aoes.
I'm a refugee, but some of this stuff is in both games (just different markers). I did the moogle king and we wiped - everyone focusing a different mob down, tank and other players running everywhere. I think WoW is a lot easier than their player base realizes so poor coordination in content like this doesn't really effect them too poorly.
Zepla is the sweetest, most wholesome girl. She was like, genuinely concerned for Asmons well-being and his plight with the WoW Addiction. Truly, a prime example of mankind. Asmongold: Constant random eyebrow movements. Zepla: Smiling 10 different ways per second.
Zepla is Female Asmon. They talk in similar ways, both have something going crazy going on their faces while they speak, similar kind of jokes, similar stories with wow, holy shit.
She's mirror universe Asmon. Instead of sticking with a game he hates and growing bitter, she left for a game she loves and became happy and wholesome.
As a person who came into FFXIV having played literally every FF up til that point, it DOES enhance the experience a little bit, but also the way mythology works is that the first telling of the story doesn't matter, you can see tonberries in another game and enjoy it, but it's not central to any one game in the series. FFXIV is a fine one to start with.
It makes it better for the fan service but it’s not necessary. That is the beauty of it, people with no previous FF knowledge can enjoy the game and the people in the know get something extra.
This just shows that Asmon is openminded and smart, he just seems to be stuck playing towards his twitch audience at times where he really just wants to do the opposite
@@Exroth Nah i think it's more that he knows that's what keeps his twitch audience large. It's a metrics thing. If he was anything other than that - his twitch audience would drop - and it might kill his channel. This is his profession. He's making these decisions because the numbers show it's the decision to make.
Despite Asmon's reaction to Lalas, the moment he encounters them in game and reads their dialog he's going to think they were written by the 'boys' in his stream...
I just finished a realm reborn msq and it's was so good the story was so well told I can't wait for this upcoming week cuz I'm off work for 4th of July week I am going to grind some final fantasy XIV I am so hooked now
Her response regarding gear grinds @ 1:18:40 is true from the point of view of being someone that’s been there from the beginning of the expansion and made their way through the content on schedule, but she’s talking to two people starting fresh. There are weeklies, there are item currency limits, and there is a grind. For anyone new to ff14 this is very much the case. Once you’re up to the point where you can start raiding sure, you can start grabbing BiS pretty quickly I imagine.
I feel like she's spot on about it, crafted gear is there to get you started on the grind towards your bis the tomestone gear isn't your only or primary source for gearing up initially.
Not sure if this makes it better or worse for you, but the in-game hypothesis for the Au Ra is that they are actually descended from some sort of "Demon" race. So you could be a demon guy with a mustache.
Even though I saw the shorter version of this Zepla's reaction to hearing Goldshire inn and Moonguard still cracked me up. I'd love to see Asmon and Zepla do more collaborations. Their personalities just work so well together. Edit: Also wtf Zepla lives in Ukraine. And the fan fest video of Soken is a punch to the gut. It's not common in Japanese culture to be open and emotional so publicly and it shows how close the team are watching their reactions.
Ff14 has so much going for it. Gameplay, graphics, story, professions, classes, social, dungeons, mechanics, customization, casino, you can even make your own house and decorate it. Be any class you want. There's alot of depth and layers you can get lost. I think everyone should try ff14 at least once regardless of what anyone says. It's a unique experience that's not easy to just explain you have to experience it.
Funny how things have changed, especially for Asmon since this video Really feeling for him being happy playing a game which is fun and obvious which he is enjoying:)
Nice to see Asmond having a fun time and just being chilled and not being too biased also love Zep just being balls to the walls like "yeah, well its shit" lmao also "I have socks on my mic and crocs on my feet" is such a fucking good quote lmaoooooo
Wow, this was an incredible podcast. I can't wait until Rich gets to max level on his summoner and gets to tackle that nuts rotation. So hard to master, but damn does Akh Morn and Revelation feel good. I have fun just smacking a dummy on that job, you feel like a demi-god.
If it helps with very few detours the MSQ quests alone took me 13 and a half days to clear. Thats time played. It's the best story I've ever encountered. ARR is slow but once you're in Heavensward and beyond it's a wild ride that hasnt slowed down at all.
I’m at Stormblood now and I feel like the game slowed down a lot compared to Heavensward but I’m pretty excited to play through Shadowbringers since everybody has been hyping it up
So I just upgraded my level 30 ff toon from free trial to real game owner. I'm a little bit excited, but I'm also overwhelmed a bit. It's hard to switch from the end game centered wow tbc classic to a new game with different systems and a vastly different goals. There's so much to unlock and obtain too.
Awesome episode, i play both games, i have 25k hrs in wow since vanilla, and 2k hrs in ffxiv just started last year. Ffxiv to me is the better game for alot of reasons. Great show
Asmon has been playing FF already. He let it out when he said he needs a new character to level with Zepla @1:42:14 mark then tried to play it off. Calling it here.
Yep! And smart on his part. When he streams it he’ll probably already be on Heavensward and thank god because his minions won’t be able to flood the server with new characters to follow him around.
he probably made a character so he could choose his dc and server, then change his settings ingame to hide all that so not as many people can snipe him as easily
this is the first time i see a Allcraft episode and its with Zepla as well! can't be a better then this! If Asmon would go Vierra, his viewers would run away screaming. But hell, it would be worth it ;) the intervention part really took me by suprise, yet somehow i could totally understand it. And Netflix seems to have gone insane with that dating show...
This was awesome. Came for Zepla got so so much more. Thank you for uploading the vod. On Crafting: I am afraid to tank. The only time I was cool with it even on a small level was as a Druid Bear and well... I'm a bear what F's do I give I'm a god damned bear. I learned my rotation, got the best gear I could, practiced, pushed myself to do better and eventually...I got ok at it. When I started FFXIV I was still afraid to tank but I did the same thing. I learned the class, I asked others, I geared up, practiced and...I'm ok at it. Crafting isn't much different than learning to tank. It seems daunting but with work and knowledge you can get ok at it. You can get more than OK at it. You can become a mentor. You can top leader boards, you can make ASS LOADS of money, and get desired top end gear before anyone else with a bit of effort and practice. Physical classes, Tanks and dps, are Disciples of War. Healers and casters are Disciples of Magic. These jobs are about fighting mobs, saving others, healing wounds and slaying monsters. They are not the only Disciples though. Those who go out into the world with scythe, pickaxe, and fishing pole in hand are Disciples of the Land. They honed their skill and focus on finding and obtaining the riches of the natural world. They also have the best spell in the game - Sneak - which hides you from all monsters up to 10 levels above you (and even then they are just slightly more aware of you). Materials in hand they can take those items and build or create. All crafters (Alchemist, Culinarian/chief, Leatherworker, Carpenter, Goldsmith, Blacksmith, Armorer, and Weaver) are Disciples of the Hand. Yes to make a pair of shoes you need to kill the boar, then treat the hide for leather, get laces and rubber then assemble them but you don't need alts to do it. You can do all of this yourself. You can be every job in the game - war, magic, hand or land - so you can do it yourself. Just because they aren't combat jobs doesn't mean you can't min/max or find an ideal rotation or go to a training dummy (read: trial synthesis) and practice. It is part mini-game part gameplay. You can even make macros to set it and forget it for one full rotation. The content for non-combat jobs is just as engaging and exciting (and grindy and frustrating) as content can be for combat jobs. The devs left no one out. So... pick up a crafting job. Practice, research, gear, learn. That pair of boots might seem hard to make and to make high quality. It can be just as daunting as a combat class. Gathering is the most chill, relaxing way to explore a zone or the world. It can be just as fulfilling to make that early raid set when a new tier drops as it can be to strap on your sword and board and feed a boss it's teeth. Diadem chat is belssed or cursed tho. Grandpa Elf reminds you in the gatherer only instance to get up now and then and to refresh your food buff. Or a heated discussion on the logistics of making love to dragons, and disturbing shower thoughts.
@Rich I watched your Intro to FFXIV vod on twitch. You getting distracted by: -Should I start crafting now? -How do I dance? -What song is that bard playing? -Eff the stats, I'm wearing this gear to look good! all before completing your level 1 quest had me rolliiing! Hope you continue to enjoy the game!
Started a month before Shadowbringer release in July 2019 and I now have around 415 million Gil. Trust me it didn’t come easy…most people are happy to have between 10-50 million Gil.
If I had to describe what FFXIV is like, I would say something like this. First of all it's a social space like any other. People hang out and ask if someone wants to do some activity. They can be stuff like hard boss fights, dungeons, grinding or finding treasures. But they can also be non-battle things like playing cards, majong, chocobo racing or hanging out in ones house someone just decorated. You could even decorate a house together if you want. But you don't have to get involved into these social things. You can just chill, be in your own space or use informations by others as a reference. However, there is this big elephant in the room called "MSQ" that everyone won't stop talking about. The game keeps gating you off of content unless you do it, people tell you to just stick to it for the next 400 hours while simultaneously telling you that it starts off boring but gets better later and it really makes a bad impression to be honest. But let me tell you this: If you every watched a TV show or an anime you really fell in love with and wanted to binge through at some point, the MSQ will eventually be that. Depending on how you treat it. The MSQ is part like an anime or show, part like a book and part like match-made multiplayer duties. And depending on where you're coming from everyone will think of this a bit differently. Some just want to play a game and will go into it thinking there's too little gameplay in it, others might come from other single player Final Fantasies and have anxiety to do this multiplayer stuff to progress the story, etc. But most people will just be turned off by reading a lot of text. And yes, A Realm Reborn has very little voice-acting (at first) and the prospect to having to read a book for most of the coming 400 hours or so is a big turn off point for most. ARR is the reason why most people drop from the game. If you made it to the end of ARR (not vanilla 2.0, but the post stuff in 2.55), you will most likely be in it for the full ride, but the story grund up to that part can be demotivating. It's like a roller coaster where ARR is that first long upclimb and 2.55 is that peak moment, where suddenly the real fun starts and it won't stop all the way through. So this book part is something that might turn you off at first. But the sooner you get into that mindset and start paying attention to the story, the sooner you will start to enjoy the whole package. I was a big JRPG fan before it, so I like games with deep and interesting stories. And I never thought that anything would come close to the classics like Xenogears, Suikoden 2, Final Fantasy 7 or even the original Nier. But now after completing Shadowbringers I must say that FFXIV has one of the best, if not the best story in any game.
1:23:00 (Q: What do you think FF14, took from WoW that makes the game better): Here is a small list of very direct decisions and designs that were made based on WoW either implementing or missed-implementations of these. - Alt-friendlyness. Removal of solo-job character. Lowering nuisance of logoff/in. (Player irritation, input) - Designed classes without multi-specs. Diminishing balance issues as game progressed. (Player irritation, input) - Quests where mob-drops are guaranteed without %-chance drop. (Player irritation, input) - Character-centric story approach. With actions having impactful meaning on (seemingly) benign NPCs. Who are re-used intermittently to give illusion of living-world. (Player irritation, input) - Developer transparency and approachability. (Player irritation, input) - Adding external DPS-meter checks kicking (against TOS), in order to improve/remove toxic elitism and hard meta in the community. (Casuel players, input) - Transmog = Glamour. Adding color/dyeability. (Popularity of system) - Creating (baked-in) old-content reusability system. Ensuring content is utilized throughout experience (Duty roulette, Moogle-esoterics, BlueMage Carvnivals, Glamourability of items etc... (Input, from Vanilla WoW wishes) - Expanded WoW World-boss events, into larger expanded (Hunts)-system. (Player input) - Seasonal events (Hatching tide, Valentione, Starlight) etc... Old-item/content available in Mog-station after 1yr exclusivity, in order not to lockout player base's access and make them feel pressured to re-sub or remain subscribed. (Popularity of system, player input on negative business pressure) - Designed in-world/styory minigames re-imagined and concentrated into one larger-hub (GoldSaucer) in order to make these mini-games consistently utilized, and waste less developer resources on their inception. (Improving resource management). - Failed/Missed Warlords of Draenor (garrison) contents player-base wishes. Template for Housing in FF14. (Player input) -Missed WoW-Tamable pets and Mount custom armor community wishes. Into customizable Chocobo-barding (Player input)
I think many don't realize how a development team may be inspired by what the opposition is lacking rather than what they have. I think if the WoW-base would occasionally play other MMO's then it may force Blizz to improve. As long as they know they have that loyalty, they have no incentive. ESO put in archeology and when I heard this I wasn't exactly thrilled since I did not enjoy it in WoW. Well they have made it into a mini-game that I love. And you actually get an item for your in-game home from doing it and it isn't a long grind. I think there are a few MMO's that are doing a lot right for players and their enjoyment of their game.
While Yoshi did have the devs play WoW, and I'm sure there were some lessons learned there, a lot of your examples were present in Final Fantasy XI, an MMO that was out 2 years before WoW. You could play every job on 1 character in XI, for example.
Also for everyone starting, push through of ARR but try to enjoy it too. The story is amazing and if you have experienced ARR stuff later feels 10x better. Endwalker will end a storytelling of 10 years
With the influx of WoW players coming to FFXIV, i hope this will be the incentive for Yoshi and his crew to improve pvp system as well(Let's be honest, its not great atm) and attract more players to it! I know a new mode is coming in Endwalker and am really looking forward to it.
@@dedarkshadow there are very minute population of pvpers in ff14, some of those players never left the wolves den pier. This is how conversations about games should be had. Reminds me of all the times my friends have shared something super cool that they're into. None of this stupid drama
The last 573 hours of progression on any new raid boss in FFXIV is all about that last 0.1% of boss health. And getting over the line is all about getting so smooth with the mechanics that everybody starts to finally get 'in the zone' and go back to being able to 'slide cast' it all through that last bit.
I am loving FF14. I am a newbie and totally clueless but for me there is no going back. I played WoW for years, and its just not in the same league as FF14. I so love all the looks you can have, and all the interesting pets, and the list just goes on and on. I also play Lalafell as they are the best race hands down.
I just rewatched this episode after the last episode of Allcraft and holy crap Rich. You changed for the better A LOT. How could you become THAT wholesome and attractive in such a short time? Like wtf!?
Crafters make alot of gil when new raid tiers come out due to making potions, food, and new armor/weapons. To get there though does take some time and investment as your crafting gear needs to be pretty recent and usually fully materiaed (Most gear has 2 slots for materia but can usually be overmelded with up to 5 tho the chance of successful overmeld drops with each one you get onto the gear, melding crafting/gathering gear tends to be a big expense for crafters and as a result not everyone is making the newest gear right at its release so it balances out. The crafting system is amazing and very very rewarding for those that are willing to put the time into it.)
Could get Larryzaur involved. He's a content creator that has gotten a chance to talk to the dev team and do interviews. As it stands, though.. Zepla is perhaps one of the best possible creators to convert Asmongold over to FF.
As a non-streamer unknown player - yeah the open world of FFXIV always has more people around just doing things than in WoW. Nobody's showing up to see me because no one knows who I am in there or anything and I don't engage with streaming or whatever. So I just see people. It's honestly also like that in GW2 and ESO. I'm not sure if this is the population being more engaged, or if it's the way they do servers and mega-servers vs phasing. It could just be that the tech in WoW phases us away from everyone too much... But the way the devs of the other games do it just feels better to a player. There's always enough people to enjoy things, but not so many it lags (in the current versions - these other games had bad lag some years back because of how they handled phasing. So, they fixed it).
Late, but the other reason in-game brothels are a sore spot for the FFXIV devs is because a few years ago, during the Q&A at Fan Fest, a reporter from Rock, Paper, Shotgun basically took over and wasted around *half* *an* *hour* asking about the devs views on in-game brothels despite devs making it really clear they didn't want to talk about it. That was just the cherry on top of a really distasteful article in general about the Fan Fest from them and they were most likely banned from then on. Possibly the whole publication
@@DerelictSong Oh im sorry, i hope i am not too late. The command /gpose is a emote repeater as well as instagramm esque photo/screenshot taker. And then theres the mods for that. Texture mods, posing mods/costume emote mods, you heard it, it exists, and ofcourse it goes NSFW
I realized I'm most looking forward t Asmon spending some wholesome time. Not being angry, not being annoyed by the game but spending a bit of a relaxing time with nice people. I can only imagine that going to be good for him. Even if its not for his viewers its at least for him. After all that WoW shit n drama he deserves just some wholesomeness.
movement doesnt immediately stop the casting, you have a fraction of a second before it interrupts the cast bar. if you time the movement correctly, you can move while the bar still fills. I usually do it on WHM, so I can cast a big heal while still getting out of telegraphs.
I ve just stopped wow couple days ago because i was sick of those things i have to do.. Now i play ff14 and love the things i want to do! I feel so much better now :) after so many years of playing wow...
I did, no regrets, somehow I was higher level botanist than conjurer but got back to CNJ when I learnt how I will acquire my first mount and let me tell you I love chocobos they are soooo adorable. When I will have one I will probably full commit to secondary jobs. This is what I lacked in others mmos and what was holding me in WoW(except the story). Professions. P.S. I played only for two days :D
Like the thing with "Prestige" mounts and transmog in 14 is that they understand the concept of hardcore raiding and give raiders appropriate rewards, but 14 also understand the concept of "hardcore casual". Like people who dont necessarily raid all that much but that do a lot of everything else and play a lot everyday. She talked about Ultimate transmog, but crafters also have the resplendent tools transmog. Also there are things like aquarium fish. Anyone who ever went for the Warden of the Seven Hues know what Fishing (Savage) is and how much of a flex having that fish in an aquarium at your house is. So like....every facet of the game has its own prestige reward. So in 14 you can flex even if you are a casual who don't raid a lot and get that satisfying sense of achievement anyway.
As a side-note. I had this discussion with a friend of mine, that loves WoW, hates FF XIV purely on the Global Cooldown that is higher in FF XIV (2.5 second vs 1.5 second in WoW), and says FF XIV feels slow. Sure, I play FF XIV since the beginning of the re-release, but yah, I don't think it's slower. He also keeps claiming WoW is much harder in the instances then FF XIV, which I disagree with, but yah, he did high mythic instances, and he did a few hard dungeons in FF XIV, I guess I won't be able to change his mind with that.
Zepla is literally an opposite image of Asmon. Female. She plays an mmo that doesn't make her rage every second. She works on herself during her free time. She plays around and is not afraid of her physical appearance. 😅
15 years of Wow... Downloaded FF XIV while watching this.. Not started it yet.. I know what will happen.. I mean if I've played through FF7 about 10 times cause it's the best game ever.. Most likely i will leave Wow for FF XIV... Wouldn't surprise me at all....
How they talk about WoW is how I feel about For Honor. I loved that game, and I wanted to be the best. I wasn't the greatest or anything but I got very good and the game just got worse the better you got at it. I made an alt and spammed ranked on it just to see what I would get to without any stopping or planning or anything and I made it to #13 but by the time I got there I just never wanted to play it competitively again. I also still come back to it from time to time just to see if it's gotten better, and in many ways it has, but the magic of what it once was to me is so far gone it feels like a completely different game now. It's sad, but I will cherish the memories I had from that game from the closed beta all the way to when I finally stopped for a very long time
This is actually the best arrangement.
From left to right in order
Someone whos still in WoW thats getting tired of Blizzard’s shit
Someone who dipped their toes in FF but is still in WoW
Someone who left WoW and is enjoying what a dev who cares can bring to a game

The lack of a general chat really is a huge boon to this game
It's such a fun game. Wait till you randomly see characters rocking out on instruments playing actual music in game. It's amazing.
Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe Leviathan has notably fewer of those types of people.

take your time, dont take all quests, just do mainstory quest and the blue ! ones that unlock stuff mostly. Story is pretty slow at the begin and combat aswell. Rich: Would you tell us more about crafting since I am not there yet
Zepla: Welcome to my Ted talk on the Crafting System in FFXIV.
"I know it's hard to accept that the current state of WoW isn't what it was back in the good times", "all it needs is to accept and let it go"
Asmongold actually smiled, it was great (well who would not smile talking to someone with fluffy long ears ?)
Congratulations for the way you convinced Asmongold to try the game and focus on having fun again.
There is thorgast as endless dungeon with buffs and so; meanwhile there is the deep du geon where you have 200 floprs with random generated map, traps and items to use (it's just a different way for lvl up stuff or for get a mount / few titles instead being ens game)
Also in ff you can get the item you want from the raid for your bis slot after x amount of weeks with tomes, like you need a ring from the end game raid? After 4 week of no luck you can just buy it and there is no such rng like "will it get warforged or so?"
@@alessandroseverino8222 also the fairly regular Moogle treasure hunts where you can buy best tribe and raid mounts. I got my chonker Laurel Gobbu through them. Was saving the points for a Revelling Kamuy (sp?) but saw that big boy and just had to have him.

@@Braiel91 true, now you can buy the exarch and augment it shortly after if you have enough tomestones
one face model for the male Au Ra has scales that look like a mustache so technically you can have a dragon man with a mustache

-Should I start crafting now?
-How do I dance?
-What song is that bard playing?
-Eff the stats, I'm wearing this gear to look good!
all before completing your level 1 quest had me rolliiing!
Hope you continue to enjoy the game!
I'm also a Triple Triad addict, I'm only lvl 20 and got to the casino last night and didn't leave until I logged off, lol.
1:23:00 (Q: What do you think FF14, took from WoW that makes the game better):
Here is a small list of very direct decisions and designs that were made based on WoW either implementing or missed-implementations of these.
- Alt-friendlyness. Removal of solo-job character. Lowering nuisance of logoff/in. (Player irritation, input)
- Designed classes without multi-specs. Diminishing balance issues as game progressed. (Player irritation, input)
- Quests where mob-drops are guaranteed without %-chance drop. (Player irritation, input)
- Character-centric story approach. With actions having impactful meaning on (seemingly) benign NPCs. Who are re-used intermittently to give illusion of living-world. (Player irritation, input)
- Developer transparency and approachability. (Player irritation, input)
- Adding external DPS-meter checks kicking (against TOS), in order to improve/remove toxic elitism and hard meta in the community. (Casuel players, input)
- Transmog = Glamour. Adding color/dyeability. (Popularity of system)
- Creating (baked-in) old-content reusability system. Ensuring content is utilized throughout experience (Duty roulette, Moogle-esoterics, BlueMage Carvnivals, Glamourability of items etc... (Input, from Vanilla WoW wishes)
- Expanded WoW World-boss events, into larger expanded (Hunts)-system. (Player input)
- Seasonal events (Hatching tide, Valentione, Starlight) etc... Old-item/content available in Mog-station after 1yr exclusivity, in order not to lockout player base's access and make them feel pressured to re-sub or remain subscribed. (Popularity of system, player input on negative business pressure)
- Designed in-world/styory minigames re-imagined and concentrated into one larger-hub (GoldSaucer) in order to make these mini-games consistently utilized, and waste less developer resources on their inception. (Improving resource management).
- Failed/Missed Warlords of Draenor (garrison) contents player-base wishes. Template for Housing in FF14. (Player input)
-Missed WoW-Tamable pets and Mount custom armor community wishes.
Let's be honest, you don't play 14 for the PVP. It's an after thought here and honestly it should be
@@dedarkshadow there are very minute population of pvpers in ff14, some of those players never left the wolves den pier. Yeah pvp is an after thought but look at where the coolest glams n mounts are locked behind; the feast. But unfortunately i heard the people who land top 10 are usually the same group of people due to win trading(its a rumor so im not 100% sure). The devs are trying but they dont seem like they know how, you can really tell but its ok. Just hoping endwalkers new mode will be a fresh start to a better pvp
@@BlackWinchester yeah mounts are cool, but they are mostly from the feast (4v4) that has issues with match fixing and cheating so I don't partake. The other glams you can just do the daily and eventually get them
@@dedarkshadow Nah not those easy to get pvp glams, im talking about the shadowstalker set and its recolored variant. Honestly i can live without the mounts, but the glam is drip. You know how it is, glam is the true endgame ua-cam.com/video/FsQ8611mkKU/v-deo.html
@@BlackWinchester ooh you mean the feast glams. Yeah I know people who tried for them
This is how conversations about games should be had.
Like wtf!?
Rich third-wheeling hardcore this episode
crafted gear being a preraid bis is an amazing idea
Shutup weeb
Chris A we’ve got a memer here boys
Oh boy, I'm on Midgard, if rich is there then asmon will probably roll on it. Let's get ready for hour long ques!
Better get on early boys!
From the future as a Cactuar resident:

The queues... The _queues..._
Possibly the whole publication
thank you for uploading the actual vod been waiting, loser youre the best
Love her so much! She's such a sweet person.
Y'shtola is such a good char
or how rich says it: YESH 'LOTA
@@BlackWinchester or how a Namazu version of Rich would say: 'LOTA, YESH-YESH
17:00 She tried so hard to not mention the Gposer community.
Oof
what is that? im kind of new just finished the storm blood
Asmon looked like a burnt out war hero comforting a shell shocked rookie when Zep was talking about wow crashing and burning lol
Asmongold : "I want a big beefy guy"
Also Asmogold : "I like to have my characters to kind of look like me"
Me : Nooooo comment :D
So I was slidecasting this entire time? I thought it was just my shit internet making me think that I was still casting lmao.
movement doesnt immediately stop the casting, you have a fraction of a second before it interrupts the cast bar. if you time the movement correctly, you can move while the bar still fills. I usually do it on WHM, so I can cast a big heal while still getting out of telegraphs.
500ms + 2x your ping, basically
I've watched this episode about a hundred times. Love the chemistry between these 3
I ve just stopped wow couple days ago because i was sick of those things i have to do..
IIt seems 21:30 is where Asmon accidentally picked up Y'shLotta.
Wow, Zepla did a really good job of explaining the craft meta in FFXIV.
Zepla is literally an opposite image of Asmon. Female. She plays an mmo that doesn't make her rage every second. She works on herself during her free time. She plays around and is not afraid of her physical appearance. 😅
I've been banned for talking shit bout dps... been a final player since ARR in top OP raider in Leviathan. Fuck with me yall
again, what a good episode!
Japanese people they're really genuine and hard worker really ♥️
15 years of Wow... Downloaded FF XIV while watching this.. Not started it yet.. I know what will happen..
I mean if I've played through FF7 about 10 times cause it's the best game ever.. Most likely i will leave Wow for FF XIV... Wouldn't surprise me at all....
Many have said Shadowbringers is the best FF story since 7
Well then? Did you?
Zepla raid group - you're all doing your best good job
Asmon raid group - it cycles the skills in perfect order or else it gets the hose again 😂
It's sad, but I will cherish the memories I had from that game from the closed beta all the way to when I finally stopped for a very long time
"It feels like a DnD campaign where the DM wasn't really prepared." - Zepla, The best description I've ever heard for the Night Fae story LOL Amazing.
That 27:03 Ship of Theseus / Titanic metaphor was pure gold
This whole WoW exodus has kept me so engaged this month. I’m super excited to see how asmon’s experience is.
Best episode ever.
zepla is such a kind and generous person lmao what a gentle river of a human being
