@@purpledrakefishing great trip. The Clark was a bust for me, not even a bite. But I fished a small stream near Alberton that feeds into it and had a freaking blast. Cutthroat's all day. Early morning nymphs and afternoon top water caddis.
@@tigersteamer Too bad about the Clark's Fork, looks so great when driving alongside it from I-90. Glad you found a smaller stream nearby that delivered!
so I wanna go in those states outside California, I wanna venture in Montana, Idaho, WY etc. but have no clue where to start. I will go and get lost and ill find em trout! great drake great stuff
The famous streams that get all the press are drift boat nightmares, LOL. It is pretty easy to find decent streams throughout ID/MT/WY that although are no secret, they are on the smaller side and don't get the armadas of boats.
@@patches152 Agree, like Patrick says, local fly shops have great info if you go into them and their websites usually have info/maps on the good local streams.
I liked it better when you said where you were. Gives a schmuck like me that gets out about twice a year a little inside info to help plan a good trip.
Appreciate that you don't share the location here as I really believe that finding these places and having success is a reward that shouldn't be overlooked. This is a fantastic river and a lot of fun. Also "I see what you did there" have fun and keep fishing.
Thanks! 🍻 I could definitely tell the river has been hit hard by the fishing guides/clients and the fish were tough to catch---each fish felt rewarding to hook into like you said.
Nice vid. Lost? Nah, I know right were you are. I've never fished the North Fork of it but I hear its pretty good. Go scout it out for me. I'll be waiting for your report. LOL!
I'm in Idaho as well for the next few weeks, looking forward to fishing tribs of the salmon this weekend, hoping to see some cutthroat. Local river is too warm to fish so gonna do a lot of alpine lake fishing and traveling to colder water spots.
surprised you didn't see any risers. also, whitefish lover perdigons. i have a bright orange one and can't keep them off of the hook in the fall/early winter.
@@patches152 No, zero fish rising and I saw only a few insects flying around --maybe a few red quills here and there though I wasn't sure. I like the perdigons so far though, so easy to tie!
Glad you mentioned it, because I literally just got back from Bestbuy and picked up a GoPro 10, LOL. Makes me feel a lot better about the purchase. I won't be using that camera anymore--I totally agree, I hated the narrow view it had!
Love the StoneDaddy! Beauty Cutts, PD...
Love watching you work that pulse 3wt!
My favorite fly rod I have ever bought 🍻
You always fish the coolest spots, love this content!
Thanks Jon! 🍻
Great water, looks fun.
How did your trip go? I think you mentioned you were going on the Clarks Fork a week or two ago?

Oh and by the way, thanks for all your on line tutelage (big word for me). It really helped with reading the water😎👍

Love crystal clear water flowing through high desert like that. Looked like fun!

euro mono rig is effective as hell, but there is something about floating line

Very busy at the moment but we should try to meetup for Pyramid next season 🍻
@@purpledrakefishing heck yeah that would be fun
Dude - this is a fishing vid, we want to see the fish!
I don’t know man, I like the older vids, these are too zoomed in, can’t have perspective. My $0.02. Glad you got out though. Safe travels.
