Hi friends, Ive spent all of november working on this, and I cant say that this is the best cosplay Ive ever made, but im incredibly proud of this video, I genuinely think its the best piece of content ive made yet, and I would absolutely appreciate it if you shared it with a friend.
Along with making kokomi’s kimono, I cover
How to make a zippered pocket
How to carve a lino block stamp and how to use it
What flatlining is and how to do it,
What a walking foot is
How to sew rope together into a bow
Jabot bow tails
And How to make a seashell out of fabric
I have a lot more ideas on deck, and a lot more work to do to make them come to life and I so very much appreciate you for coming on this ride with me so far.
Let’s teach and learn how to sew, together.

This is not a tutorial, this is so you can watch me suffer is such a powerful opening statement
You gotta put the thesis in the first paragraph
I love videos that start with that.
@@SarahSpaceman you gotta hook the readers in the opening paragraph😊
hi!!! leaving this here for anyone trying linoprinting: if you want a really solid block of color, try to only move the roller one direction when rolling ink onto your stamp. if you go back and forth, you’ll just end up picking the ink back up and while it may look fully covered, you’ll get a patchier appearance when printing. ok love you guys amazing cosplay you’re totally one of my biggest inspirations sarah byeeee!!
This is so good !! Watching people make genshin costumes instead of buying them makes me think when I (eventually) do Mona I might make her since I've seen a few people do corseted bodysuits (including you!!) And I just love the effect it gives for her so much. I'm just,,, not ready for that stress 😂
Well hopefully it would be less stressful if I post a video about corset making, its not as scary as you might think and i bet you could do it :D
@@SarahSpaceman I mean if u happened to have a video planned I would be very interested 🥺🥰

Anyone wanting to use printing for their cosplay: She is using speedy carve, which is different than linoleum. It is easier to use as it is softer and probably better for printing on fabric. Also, they do in fact make ink for this. Find “block printing ink” for fabric. Speedball has “Fabric Block printing ink.” To properly get ink on your “brayer” (the roller), get a pane of glass like a picture frame glass (it does need to be a fairly large piece of glass for most prints, and if the edges are sharp, cover them with masking tape). This glass is where you will be putting your ink down and rolling it out. Use a ink knife to create a line of ink and roll the ink out. Look up how to coat a brayer with ink for block printing tutorials to learn how to know when you have just the right amount of ink prepared. Speedball ink is easy to wash off the glass. Just use the ink knife to scrape away excess and you can use paper towel and water to remove the rest.
Kokomi is my absolute favorite character in Genshin. And I’m so happy to see someone making cosplay and loving her!
Me to!
She's a good substitute to Barbara.
In high school I did a lot of block printing. What we did for the ink was to get a rectangular plexiglass plate and put a glob of ink at the top. We would get a tiny bit on the roller then roll it underneath, continuing to get more and roll until we heard a "sticky" or "clicking" sound while rolling. You also want that sound when rolling onto the block you are printing from. Whether it be one of the rubber ones or corkboard, you want to hear that sound. It means you are getting just enough ink to make it dark but not too much ink that it gets messy
Same here in college! Except my professor told me that it should sound like a light shower on the roof and not like heavy rain. And the way that I gagged it was the feel of it.
"if you're willing to put in the work you still might end up with something that makes you happy" is such a great message and especially so for newer cosplayers like me.
I made my first ever hand-sewn cosplay 2 years ago and my mom thought I was crazy for even attempting it as I hadn't sewn since preschool, but through sheer will, a desire to make it, and a lot of very helpful online tutorials I did end up with something I was really really proud of and it sparked an interest to make more cosplays!
omg the massive effort put into this video is so appreciated i can't believe i didn't discover this video until now 😭😭
Thank you so much!!
As someone who loves kimonos it's kinda funny to see the obi bow hanging at butt level 😂 Overall beautiful costume and tremendous effort with all the stamping and layering!
This was so inspiring honestly. As someone who has a lot of troubles in starting anything i'm not a 100% sure i can finish, you really inspired me in trying🌸 so i think i'll try to make Kokomi's jellyfish!
Aww yay! Thanks so much!
even if this is not a tutorial all the general explanations of what certain stitches are meant to do and the explanations of the techniques, as a sewing newb, mean the world to me
HIDDEN POCKETS
*THIS IS NEXT LEVEL*
*EVERY COSPLAY NEEDS SOMETHING LIKE THIS ITS SO FUN TO KNOW YOU JUST HAVE HIDDEN LITTLE THINGS LIKE POCKETS*
SARAH i was having so much fun watching this, and then I had to absolutely YELL because I also always feel like I'm doing my best imitation of the wavy sponge lady when I'm talking to myself as I film 😆😆😆
We can all only hope to be as Iconic as her lol
I really enjoy watching you make this kokomi cosplay it turned out amazing!! I myself really want to get into cosplaying and i am thinking of trying out making lisa from genshin for a con next summer. I am a complete beginner but you have explained so many new and cool techniques that i never thought was possible and i cant wait to try some of them out for myself! i really appreciate the effort you put into this series! thank you!!
That is so so sweet!! And I’m so excited for you to make Lisa, I’m sure it’ll come out great and that you’ll have so much fun being her ❤️
Being able to see your journey on this cosplay is so amazing to see and also so motivating !! The way your videos are always so dynamic, with clear explanations of what you’ve done and why/how, it’s always very nice to just take a moment to watch them
Thanks so much! that means so much it really does!
I just found you and you now have a forever subscriber! I love that you tried experimenting with lino blocks for your cosplay. Especially because I am a huge relief print fan and it’s one of my favorite art mediums to work with. For someone who claims they don’t quite know what they’re doing and you did amazing. I especially loved that you took a paintbrush to help thin out the paint on your block because I could see that the paint consistency was not quite right, it was too gloopy, and had to be thinned out. You had such an ingenious way to fix your problem! I also want to say thank you, you’ve inspired me to go back into cosplay, and even though I am not the best at sewing. Maybe I can lean on my strengths and try a cosplay and use block printing with it. Who knows but I am definitely excited to try again!😊
This is such a sweet comment thank you so much! I hope you do! Im sure youll create some wonderful cosplays!
This was a monster project(for Genshin impact standards…) and you rocked it! My First actual attempt to cosplay aether made me realise that the quality of cosplays either went really bad or I am just not willing to sacrifice my happiness to undone or simply Not well done costumes. So I will have my First real self made costume for yun jin in the early 2023 month. Your Video is encouraging and resembles what many forgot over the past years. Cosplay is not perfection. Cosplay is still a Hobby and for many a relief.
It was really fun and relateable to see your process✨
Did you finish your cosplay?
@@_moonette__ as i wrote i attempted a Genshin impact cosplay and everything went fine but- I choosed a different one that took a lot of tricky steps. At the end I had to cancel the halfway done cosplay. I bought shenhe instead and did stick with my aliexpress yunjin:‘) I am a Little defeated ever since…
This isn't a tutorial but you include the best visual explanations, information and resources I've seen! Even more so than actual tutorials I've watched on yt ^^"
I know this isn’t a tutorial, but I’m learning lots by just watching you! Satin stitching, how tights can be made, how you can make pockets, and etc! Keep up the great work!
Oh my God I am in awe in how you put together your videos- the over explaining is so helpful to a person like me who wants to learn how to make full cosplays on my own someday. This is incredible-
“Even if it’s got extra toes” is what I needed to hear right now. I’m making a Chrissy Cunningham cosplay and seeing the love, dedication and attention to small sometimes seemingly pointless details is giving me the push I need. I’ve literally put my blood into this thing learning to punch needle patches. Wich has been frustrating since I bought the wrong fabric have made three different iterations trying to get the right shade of yellow/orange and shapes, had the threader break and have sliced my hands to hell and back. I also have had to learn to drape since the “easy hack” for the white section of her vest (cutting a slightly larger t shirt to match then sewing it together” didn’t work with my mahoosive yabbos 🙄. I’ve been taking a break from all that to make the skirt while I watch you videos and can rest easy knowing that even if my hair-brained schemes to cheat the athletic tape at the bottom doesn’t work out I’m still on the right path. I’m sure there’s more lessons I’ll learn but I can feel better knowing that even if I’m poorer in finances from my mistakes I’ll be richer in knowledge because I learned from them. ❤
Honestly, I don't know how you got it like that. it's satisfying to see all the stages of production. In addition you take trouble to explain everything you do. Thank you very much for these beautiful videos.
guys please , give her more subs that chair arm at the end KILLED ME 🤣 great video , great cosplay. you are super talented and smart and for sure a hard worker .
seeing your entire journey of making this kokomi cosplay come to life was incredible! this is my first time watching your videos but i’m absolutely invested now 🥺🥺💞 and i know people have said this before but when you “overexplain” sewing techniques and what your thought process was like, it really helps break it down for people who have an interest in sewing + cosplay but are too afraid to begin (so thank YOU 😭😭🙆♀️💖)
i love how the tail flopped like a fish when thrown onto the table, how perfect!
Thank you! I really enjoyed seeing how you brought this together. I love your willingness to blend techniques, try new things, and share the journey with your viewers.
Thank you!!
aaaa I was so excited to see that you uploaded again!!! Watching this whole process really inspired to me try new techniques too, particularly in more elaborate cosplays that I've been to intimidated to try. Overall 10/10, incredible fish content.
Also, thank you for introducing me to that rainbow sponge video. I'm utterly obsessed w it.
Oh it is ABSOLUTELY my favorite video on the internet and it has been for years. Also thank you so much!
You will have sooo much more subscribers. Your videos are the perfect mix of education and entertainment.
wow i love these two videos. you look sooo cute!!! and i love that youve included the "mistakes" you made, it makes me feel so much more comfortable with all the mistakes I am making during my projects.
Tysm! We all make mistakes! And Its important that I show mine so that if anyone follows this as a tutorial, they know where they might mess up too :)
I love kokomi so much ! I've been looking for a tutorial for her cosplay since so long ,thank you so much !
Sadly english isn't my main language, so I have difficulties to understand, but it's okay ^^
I think it's really fun and interesting to see a true DIY of something that many pro cosplayers would use a printer for, something that most people don't have access to. In today's day and age I feel like making printed patterns, 3D printed weapons etc is the new standard, instead of the old school cut and paste and experimenting with what you got.. So love seeing all your new tecniques!
These process videos are so cool and informative!! The cosplay came out AMAZING!!
This cosplay turned out so beautifully!! I loved seeing how you learned new techniques and I hope I can do this too one day!
I was excited to see the rest of this but I was not ready for what I saw. This is amazing! I cannot wait to see the umbrella.
Got recommended your "Can this Cosplay Win an International Contest?" and now I am binging all of your videos. This 100% brings me back 15 years when I made cosplay for me and my friends (as the only one with a sewing machine and a grandma with sewing knowledge). I haven't thought about cosplay and sewing much in the last few years, and this has made me a bit emotional in remembering the hardships and the big payoff of seeing your hard work cosplay on people. Thank you so much for your efforts in producing these videos! 100% understand the struggle of getting all of the little details right. I hope that your content blows up more and more.
This is an incredible amount of work! I love creative artist endeavours of all kinds, more than earned a sub!
ahhhh it looks amazing.,,, your detailed explanations are so helpful and i absolutely love every video you put out!! tysm! its a huge inspiration to me and i love seeing your progress and how you tackle each project :0!!
Love watching your process! Beautiful Kokomi cosplay and an amazing video!
This cosplay is amazing! And I love the videos with all the new techniques I saw.😱🥰 I‘m curious what else will come next.😍
I'm only 3 minutes in and I'm already obsessed with your videos! Gurl! This is amazing!

Aw super cute and extra complex! Great job! Love all the iridescent layers!
I watched this video making my first corset (I found the corset video too late) and it really inspired me and helped me push both my mental and physical boundaries! Honestly you are the core of my sewing passion and expertise!

Thank you! And thats a great idea for Thoma!
i'm using this to learn how to make patterns and such, they've been so helpfull. and hopefully next year i'll be able to do my first ever homemade cosplay. (i'm gonna suffer, but it'll bve worth it)
Omg is the most lovely Kokomi that I ever seen ✨ Great job, you look wonderful 🎉
Thanks so much!
You're the most relatable cosplayer ever cuz I'm a fashion designer (student). Im in my 3rd year of college and I learned a lot from your videos that my college couldn't teach the tips and tricks. Thank you for giving so much information and showing us the ways of the cosplay!♥️ You're amazing♥️ and please keep making more videos. It's so fun to watch!♥️💫
Ahhh!!! Your videos are sooo captivating, I originally planned to view them for the tutorial aspect but they’re actually so entertaining. Keep up the amazing work!!
Aww! Thank you so much, that means a lot to me to hear that 🥰
Really enjoyed watching your suffering lol - in all seriousness, this was a lot of fun to see you bring Kokomi to life! Also, love your red wine colored nails 💅

It’s beautiful!!! ❤amazingly done
That's so crazy, you put so much work in it and it came out so good - even tho u said it's not perfect, I think it's much much better than some of the costumes u can buy online for tooo much amount of money ❤
I love your videos!!!! Taking notes and learninggggg :3
I absolutely adore your Graphic design the texts the trasitions everything just looks absolutely amazing. It somehow makes me want candy. 😅
I love this cosplay so much kokomi is one of my favourite characters in Genshin so I just had to see this finished!
I find myself binging all your videos. Your attention to detail is breathtaking!
Wow, thank you! Glad you like them!
"Lino" or more properly "wood block" printing, actually was originally used for printing fabrics both to directly apply colour to fabric & to apply wax to resist colour (as in the batik process) while dyeing fabric.
These videos are incredible. Ur so underrated wth
Thank you so much for sharing your pattern! I’d love to make a doll-sized version of the robe :)
Love how this turned out, looks more real than the just printed ones.
I love it !!! I dont know how you do that but you explain so well that even if Im french I understand how to sew certains things better !!!
This is no less than a masterpiece
THE BRAVEST!!!! congrats on ur kokomi pull and congrats on this making this outfit which ostensibly makes no sense come to life!

27:03 2k?? And only 2 years ago… Wow you’ve grown a lot with now having 163k 🤩 You really deserve it 🙌
Oh my gosh I just stumbled upon your channel and I LOVE your content 💕😭!! You made me laugh, inspired me to craft, and I loved learning so many techniques from this video! Even though I don't play genshin, I love crafting and cosing so it was still really fun to see you bring this design to life put this entire cosplay together ! I totally feel your struggle on translating some design elements to irl bc sometimes they just don't make sense LOL. The animated explanations are also so well done and dynamic 🙏
Your craftsmanship is beautiful and I can't wait to see more of your videos 🥳💕
Aww thank you so much! That means so much to me🥰🥰
You are so talented, good cosplay!!!
