Thank you for this. My microwave trips my circuit braker every time I start it, i believe i need the doir switch replaced, and i was under the impression that they were all the same, but when i went to purchase it they have both options No and Nc, can you please tell me which one i need? Thank you.
II'm confused - you say everything is fine if the meter reads zero, and that the switch is broken if nothing changes, but what about if the meter DOES show 1-2 ohms when tested?

I replaced the monitor switch, twice, on my GE microwave with a new one and the fuse kept blowing when I closed the door. Finally I simply did not reconnect the wires to the monitor switch and the microwave works fine. Is the monitor switch really necessary or is it simply a safety precaution?
Thank you. Got the replacement switch from Amazon and it worked. I could not find exact replacement & so used the following switch: LONYE SZM-V16-FD-63 -- no issues so far.
Usually a door switch breaks first. But I've had all 3 go out at once before from people slamming it shut. Replacing these fixes it almost 10/10

Would a bad switch not let the microwave power on ? I replaced my fuse and still no power.
Thanks! I was able to fix my 1996 microwave with an 8$ part
