      I wouldn't blame you with the green colour. I think I'd marry the sunset one 😉

      Thank you The Moody Artist ❤️ after getting used to the differences between these paints and other metallic watercolours they created some nice effects. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for sharing ❤️

    Anything I bought from Derwent, I love, these metallic paints no exception. I use them hell lot for urban sketching. Of course, you have to be very cautious with these since they are decently opaque.

      Thank you Miklos ♥️ agreed! Especially the paint pans 😍
      These metallics are a little more subtle than other sets that I have used. I don't think that is a bad thing either especially for accents and details.

      Thank you Anika ❤️ they were interesting to work with. Although they were quite different compared to other metallics I've used they held up in other ways ☺️

      Thank you Vanessa ❤️ they were a a lot different to metallic Watercolours I've used before. I think once I had gotten used to the differences I quite enjoyed what could be achieved! I'm looking forward to making the video too comparing them all ✨✨✨

    I’ve never come across anything from derwent that I like. I do use one do their sketchbooks as they’re pretty good, just everything else I ended up getting rid of. Love it when you do dragons! You’re the best 💕

      Thank you Emma ♥️ I can understand how you feel about Derwent. A lot of the products are pitched against their competitors and similar products. I've come to learn they're quite different from what to expect. I do think in general that their stuff is good quality and the only thing I've really been disappointed with are the paint pens. They were leaking all over the place 😖😖😖

    These are interesting, but not something I'd buy for myself. I don't think I'd get much use out of them. I love the subtle dragon though. Very classical Chinese dragon. :)

      Thank you Beate A ☺️ they were very different to use compared to the more sparkly Watercolours I've used. They seemed more pigmented and the mica was a lot finer. The lay down was more like traditional Watercolours though and felt more like a normal painting experience. They aren't my go to but I think they have a place in the collection ✨

    I've been wanting to see what these are like. I've ordered the Finetec gold set as I was drooling when I saw them and I'll only ever use gold (I think!) as accents. I can't wait for the comparison video... That will be the most drooliest video for me as I also love sparkly things and love seeing the sparkles move around in water 😂 x

    • @KatyRylesArt
      @KatyRylesArt  3 роки тому

      Thank you mandyeggz ❤️ in glad that this video helped. I think for accents you're fine with the FineTec and they will last you ages! Hehe I'm looking forward to the metallic paint comparison too. I'll be sure to get some dazzling close up shots ✨✨✨

      @@KatyRylesArt my Finetec arrived today
      ... I swatched them and loved them but not as much as I loved the jar of water afterwards. I didn't throw it away for hours as I just kept swirling it to disturb the particles and watched it shimmer 🤣 so please include some water footage as well 🤣❤️

    I love how the swatches look on the black paper but I see what you mean about the lingering pigment. Maybe it could also be the type of paper, like cold versus hot press?

    • @KatyRylesArt
      @KatyRylesArt  3 роки тому

      Thank you Weblight Dreams ❤️ they really stood out on the black paper However the pigments on some really didn't stand out a huge amount but looked quite nice in the white. The swatches were on cold press and the painting was on hot and I think the pigments just disappear and only leave a hint of colour. I think for the metallic paint comparison video I may keep it to hot press ☺️

    more shiny paints to add to the supply list and being Derwent, should be easy to find here 😊

      I think the Derwent website may have restocked if not give WHSmith a try 😉

    I’m looking forward to your comparison video. I had heard the Paul Rubens are nice. But I just got the Derwent graphitint pan paint and love it! So I was wondering if I would like these also. I like painting on white paper. Thought this would be pretty with flowers or birds.

    • @KatyRylesArt
      @KatyRylesArt  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you Gerri Dauer ☺️ I should hopefully be starting it soon. I'm looking forward to making this video too. Each set I've got has different personalities and properties so it might be a bit of a long video.
      The Derwent metallics were very colourful in white paper but some colours weren't quite as sparkly as what I expected.

      Katy Ryles Art I’m more into gorgeous colors than sparkles. But thought if I could have both that would be nice. I’ve got a hand full metallic tubes, but disappointed in how little color comes through.

    Sparkly, shimmery paints and a Dragon..... what's not to like?
    I love it and thank you for sharing.
    I am really looking forward to your comparison of all the metallic paints (I too am a bit of a magpie when it comes to sparkly things). Since I am only just a beginner, I am favouring the Derwent brand for my main supplies. Figuring that if I can learn to achieve reasonable results with one brand, then it might be less confusing and daunting than trying to remember how different mediums work (well it's a theory anyway).
    If it wouldn't be tooooo cheeky - I wondered if you would be kind enough to give your thoughts and recommendations on rigger brushes, the best ones (in your opinion) and the techniques you use, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks Katy

      Thank you Janet ❤️ my inner magpie is always curious about metallic watercolor ✨🤩✨
      I'm looking forward to making the comparison video too. I generally quite like Derwent because they have a subtle take on supplies. The only thing I've really disliked was the paint pens! Awful leaky mess!
      Now as for riggor brushes I quite like the royal and langnickle ones. The clear handle blue tipped ones have lasted me a good while. I'll conjure up a video with some tips because there's a bit of a learning curve ❤️
