Thanks for showing this rare film. I've never seen one of the Baer-Rosenbloom films and have wondered about them for many years. I grew up in Max Baer's town (Livermore CA) and used to go to Max Baer Park as a kid.
I'm 31. But I do prefer a lot of old things. Old stuff from the 20th century and a couple of things from before the mid 2000s is much better than all that new stuff.
In the winter of 1947, Slapsy Maxie and Max Baer starred together at the Kitty Davis Nightclub on Miami Beach. They had a complete comedy show they performed THREE shows nightly.
Slapsy also had a bit on a old radio show called "Duffy's tavern". He played a guy getting a job doing chores in the bar for 10 cents a day. But he was terrible at the job. He messed up most of the tasks he was asked to do,---so he asked for a 100% raise. Duffy: "You got a lot of nerve asking me for a raise when you don't have any experience!" Slapsy: "Yea, but, you gotta understand. The job is twice as hard when you don't know what your doing!" Anybody want to hire a college graduate today? Just sayen. :)
Max Baer had great martial art skills, breaks guys arm throw brilliant punches ,and disarms girl with the gun into days time would've been Boxing and Ufc Champ easy
There is no such thing as a person who is a Boxing and UFC champ, and there never will be. All they can do is pick one for a championship, and try the other, which rarely is a good fight.
No! He made four with Rosenbloom. I have a total of 3 of them in my collection (the others are TWO ROAMING CHAMPS and WINE, WOMEN AND BONG). I'm missing ROOTIN' TOOTIN' TENDERFEET. You can find out more at my site www.columbiashortsdept.weebly.com
@@TheShortsDepartment hope you can upload them on UA-cam someday. My dad would really like to see them. He really enjoys watching these non 3 stooge Columbian shorts.
Yeah, I don't like it too much, either. I did that one a while ago before I had a program with a transparent watermark. I do have two other Baer and Rosenbloom shorts called TWO ROAMING CHAMPS and WINE, WOMEN AND BONG as well as the original script for ROOTIN TOOTIN TENDERFEET that was Moe Howard's. He would sometimes take scripts for other comedians to see if there was anything that might work for the Stooges (I also have his script for LET DOWN YOUR AERIAL which was reworked as GOOF ON THE ROOF).

Damn. Excellent fight scenes. Not bad at all.
4:10-4:20 The only surviving footage of Slapsy Maxie Rosenbloom boxing. 10 seconds of goofy shadow boxing.

Max & Max are not that bad for a 2-reel comedy
What do you need a desk for, if you have no computer? :O
Great idea using a water mark so no one steels your videos 👍🏻

@@EarthSurferUSA there definitely will be a boxing and UFC champion. Likely not the near future; but there will be.

Was this the only short Max Baer did for Columbia?

Remake of one of the Three Stooges shorts
And with Emil Sitka playing the same role in both.
A shame about that "The Shorts Department" logo being so big. Covers too much of the screen.

I can't believe they wrote The Shorts Department across the screen --for the whole film! 👎
@@kylej.mcelravy Thanks. I still love this stuff three years later!😂
