"Naoe wouldn't be an Assassin because in this time period women were downtrodden" that's exactly the reason she WOULD be an Assassin. Whoever said this knows nothing past the title of the game. Same goes for Yasuke. Slave > whatever happened with Nobunaga > warrior for freedom. It all fits into AC perfectly. Great character groundwork
As long as you have lots of stuff to say and can have somewhat of a clear audio you’ll do great! If you’re passionate about it then you should go for it!
The lead writer of AC Syndicate gave an interview on Loomer's channel back in the day when that game came out, and in it he answered a question about historical inaccuracy in the game, specifically about the presence and treatment of women. And, as much as I may have initially wanted a darker, more brooding game that was more rooted in the reality of the setting, as that would've fit better with my preconceived notions of Victorian London, he actually gave a really insightful and understandable justification for the game's approach to those darker realities of the history of that time. To summarize, he basically proposed to the staff that worked on the game that they should be more faithful to history, including the misogyny, and what he was met with was almost every woman on the team saying that they didn't want to make that game. Essentially they said that they don't enjoy reading/watching/playing stories in this time period and most of human history because it treats them horribly. And so what they decided to do with the world of Syndicate, which already had a more light-hearted tone with a buddy-cop kind of energy, was to make an idealized version of Victorian London that players, not just male players but all players, could enjoy spending time in without being reminded constantly of what is a painful topic for a lot of people. People can yell "soy" or "woke" at that all they want, but I just think that's a really fair and empathetic artistic decision.
I think that is absolutely pathetic Assassins Creed up to that point had always portrayed the era in which each individual game was based in as historically accurate as possible. no coincidence it was in 2015 that they changed course because some women found it offensive. I guarantee it wasn't every woman on the team that refused, yet they kowtowed to the woke. it's no coincidence Syndicate tonally out of place in the series up to that point. and before you start calling me a privileged white male, I am a Mixed-Raced LGBT Individual, hence my name: Mahki Ola Omo-Olani Akinsemoyin
@mahkimahkila6396 Okay, can I call you 15, then? Because that's how you sound. Which is fine, I was 15 once, it's not your fault. Seriously, though, I sincerely recommend you try to exercise some empathy on this. Whether it was all the women or none of them (why would he lie???) it is a legitimate artistic decision. Art is made for more than just the purpose of slavishly recreating reality. And if you want such a recreation of history, there are other games, movies, stories, hell, read a damn book or something. It's not censoring history, it's telling a story, and they chose to design a world that was condusive to that story. And also, yeah, I don't know if designing a world or writing a story where my gender is completely excluded or experiences horrible bigotry sounds fun, so again, maybe try to have some empathy.
@@mahkimahkila6396Sorry, I shouldn't condescend, that's not how I want to come across, I just think you're being a little obstinate, especially calling them "pathetic" just reads like you're young (I'm 23 btw, and I actually am one of those priveleged straight white men that you hear about). I recommend you look up the interview. Just search "Loomer Syndicate Writer" or something and jump to 1:20:56 for the segment I'm talking about, the rest of the interview is time coded as well for your convenience and it's a really good listen.
@calebmurphy9406 its called being realistic. and I notice it's always you "empathic" wokies who are the first to throw insults. the fact is before the wokies emerged around 2015, we didn't have to read a book for historical accuracy. no one is saying Evie couldn't still be a protagonist, sole protagonist even. but to pretend that their were female enforcers in street gangs circa 1800s is ridiculous. and I'm 31, old enough to remember when gamers made games, not activists
We'd love to have guests on the pod at some point. Hopefully soon, once we've got into a good flow of episodes we might have some familiar faces feature in an episode
I know that you read my comment on the first episode but s want to be sure that you do something with this idea. I dont want to be annoying or something and yes i know that this one is about the spinoffs so dont take this as a spam. I would like you to say at least something about my commet in the episode so that i know that you like the idea. I have an idea about the format of your podcasts: I would like you to try to focus on one game in the series in one podcast (like the next one could be about AC1 and it's spinoffs and the one after that AC II and so on) and maybe sparkle a little bit of the general things in between these specially oriented episodes like between every single one about a specific game you do a podcast just like this one and then continue in the format I suggested i think it would be pretty fun to listen to. If you read this i appriceate that youre doing something like this it seems pretty fun and its fun to listen to. Edit: i forgot one thing - i would like there to be some special guests like the hidden one, altair stealth, the spaniard and so on it would be interesting
Thanks for the suggestions! We’re still figuring out the best format going ahead and we’ll definitely take your suggestions into account when planning future episodes

I really wanna see you guys review the comics and webtoons surrounding the game
Will you guys invite any other AC youtubers to talk with?
