I don't know about the rest of the world, but this song does not get played on any rock stations in my area like it deserves to be. This song was an instant classic to me the first time I listened to it at 12 years old back in the early 90's. It still sounds as amazing and fresh as it did back then for me. MASTERPIECE!
This only reminds of an EX who broke up with me while we were living together in 1996. I never heard of these guys until she was playing their CD or it came on a radio or something. Same thing with Alice n Chains, except I can still listen to Alice, lol. I already knew about alice, just never listened to them much before she was around. Oh, why did she break up with me? Cause I broke my collar bone and couldn't work for about a month! It's ok, there were hotter women in the sea after her, lmao. I turned 21 that year, 1996. Oh, she told me that I wasn't reliable as far as keeping a job. Well the job I started when I broke my collar bone, I kept it for 22 more years lol, and now I've worked 5 years at the county, so screw her!
This song in particular has always been a popular radio song on classic rock themed stations in the Southeastern USA. If I recall, the band is from Georgia and they still have a decent following although this is probably the one and only song of theirs that got much radio or television play. I think they are still a band and play regularly although with a different lineup than the one in this video.
Lol I graduated in 1993 and I remember majority of our class going to seem them play in Jacksonville, Alabama at the collosium. Fast forward 15 or so years later and seen them many times at Brother's Bar in Jacksonville... fun times!

After listening to this song for 30 or more years or so, and knowing the words to this song... its weird that people saw this as a pro-war song. To me, a lot of the metaphors and lines used actually seem to be about being lulled into a state of conflict and then realizing it too late and wishing to escape from that situation

I've got you on the beat

But won't you take my place
Since long ago I wandered
Way out on a cliff
With the brilliance of an angel
So fly me courageous
So fly me courageous
Mother America is brandishing
Her weapons
She keeps me safe and warm
By threats and misconceptions
So if you break the chains
You'll have to shake me
And if you break my heart
You'll have to take me
Whoa lady won't you take it easy
Push me out of
Whoa won't you take it easy lady
Push me out of
Whoa won't you take it easy lady
Push me out of
So fly me courageous
I heard your whispers
From the bottom of the canyon
It's not so hard to hide
The rattlesnakes confusion
Wrap me high in the sky
Circle me with stallions
She flew from peak to peak
With the freedom of an eagle
So fly me courageous
Fly me courageous
So fly me courageous
Awesome thanks I used to make up my own lyrics to this back in 91 turns out I was really close!
Thanks!
@Becky & Gary Edwards Yes. It's absolutely an anti war/anti nationalism song.
Thanks for the lyrics I knew some of them luckily my local radio station didn't beat this one in the ground.
Whoaoo baby, woantchoo take it easy!!!

You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me; And Your gentleness makes me great. We are the son's of GOD.
I'm finding all of these songs and bands I forgot about... the fkn 90s was the best time to be a teenager and in my early 20s ...turned 22 in 2000... puro GenX
Good Music
You really fuckin rock out
I love the sound of this song. Was well underestimated. These guys are great!!
tune never gets old -- still is one of the last truly great rock songs from back in the day--soooo good to have youtube around so i don't have to listen to all the total crap being put out these days-thanks for posting
The Screaming Cheetah Wheelies was another TOTALLY Under-rated Bands back in the day
There's actually a TON of proper rock music coming out. You just won't hear it anywhere unless you dig a little. Such is the way of the music industry in 2020. It's hilarious that I have to explain this to boomers so often.
I agree!...today's music is nothing but crap! We need bands playing good music like this again!
@@garysala5441 again. Not true. Dig deeper. Proper rock still exsists it's just not on terrestrial radio anymore. The music indistry is dead, music is NOT.
@@HomeOnDeranged Proper lmao rock is improper
It's still rocking to it in 2021 and will until the day they put me in the ground
I remember seeing them so many times when I was in college at Ole Miss in the early 90’s. This brings back so many memories of them in the Grove.
I am so jealous! 😋😋😊
Still 🎤And it’s 9~2022 Babbyy ! Always listening 💙🎶🎶🎶Saw Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit last night covered this , so awesome 👏🏻 ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Wow! I let this s cool tune slip out of my radar, it popped up randomly, excellent rockin' song !
I was into punk and oi and a bunch of different underground types of music when this came out. But I loved this song and would listen to it all the time. Awesome band. Still into punk, oi and underground. But still listen to these guys. And queensryche
