@@Tronjon4278 Cindy has always had the freedom to leave if she wanted to but SHE decided to stay. She was never kept in a cage or made to stay in the house. She was allowed to be a baboon. There is also a strict hierarchy among Cindy and the family. Ruben even said he and his brother are below Cindy and his parents were alphas. I think with the boys growing up understanding and respecting Cindy and Cindy being able to move about freely and be a baboon, things turned out like they did.
This is heartbreaking news. I’ve never said prayers for a baboon before… But I will tonight. We just love Cindy so much. 💖✝️🫶🤞🏼🙏 They are NOT JUST pets… They are members of our family. I am a South African who lives in Mexico, and a Mexican friend (she is married to a South African man) once made the remark, "South Africans live with their animals". When I say "South African", I also include the Namibian Afrikaners because we are the same stock. Back to my Mexican friend's remark: Yes, we do live with the animals around us, not over them. My uncle and grandparents raised 3 orphaned meerkats as if it was the most natural thing in the world. We raised orphaned/abandoned lambs the same way. My Ridgebacks are absolutely part of my family and act as if they have the exact same rights as my children. As Africans, we understand the difference between anthropomorphizing animals and living with them on their terms. You and your parents are doing a phenomenal job with these animals, Ruben, and I applaud you for that!
