Wow, this conversation is literally a game-changer!! Thank you. As an European living in the UK, I must say that it was super helpful x I had one person saying strange comment about my accent but I didn't say anything because I didn't want to be 'in trouble'. How wrong is that? We all have accents and if we speak a new language or move somewhere else it'll be different, but that's the beauty of it, isn't it? X

Thank you so much for having Dominque as your guest. I really wish I was brave enough to stand up to the 2 bullies (my line manager and her boss) at work. They were able to do so because it was in a small office with doors, to cut a long story short I had to leave cos my mental health was affected!! Ever since then I have always been apprehensive about working in offices with rooms, I prefer open plan. Happy to say I am a lot better and I will call out bullying straight away, I thank God my employer does the same. No one has bullied even since they can try but me I will defend myself. Honestly in my experience particularly being in a field with very few immigrants, I have come to realise that the problem is much more bullying than racisim. These bullies will pick on anyone they feel would be vulnerable and those new to a profession/new immigrants are easy targets.

Gosh! Dominique has inspired me. Thank you Nannelle. I am a Cameroonian too. Newly qualified in OT. I faced the bullying too. But God helped me to finish my studies. I would like us to connect via email if you want. I would like to hear more of your experiences and how you overcame them.

Dominique.... i think i love you lol... thank you for that. I have been struggling with career progression, been stuck in the phase of "im just here for money". But i would like to settle here and make a life for myself. There is so much pressure from back home that sometimes we forget that we need to build our own lives, you cant pour from an empty cup.
